Countdown to the Oscars: What You Can Expect From the 2014 Ceremony

Countdown to The Oscars

The Oscars are coming up in 48 hours and we couldn’t be more excited! Here are 5 things to look out for on Sunday night.

1. Ellen DeGeneres’ opening monologue. Ellen hosted the Oscars once before in 2007 to great reviews. How will she top her last attempt? She stated: “It’s the Academy Awards. It’s prestigious. It should be sophisticated. It has lately turned into something that’s a little more about the clothes than the performances, and I will comment on that.” – Well we can’t wait.

2. Musical performances. U2, Pharrell Williams, Karen O, and Idina Menzel will be performing the nominated original songs. Pink and Better Midler are also expected to perform.

3. Tighter than usual races. It has been difficult to predict winners for certain categories just because the race has been so close, especially for best picture and best supporting actress.

4. Special Presentations. These presentations are expected to honour both real life and popular heroes, from Nelson Mandela to the fictional superheroes.

5. A Wizard of Oz Tribute2014 marks the 75th anniversary of the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz, and The Oscars will pay tribute to the amazingly popular film.

In honour of the event on Sunday we have launched our “Guess the Winner” Giveaway. Select who you believe will win in a given category and you could win a $20 gift certificate for Amazon. Enter now!
