It was only a few hours ago that we learned that the upcoming fourth season of American Horror Story would be subtitled as “Freak Show”. Now, we have more details about casting and the setting via Entertainment Weekly.
The show is set in Jupiter, Florida where Jessica Lange, playing a German ex-pat, manages “one of the last freak shows in the U.S…. [who]do anything to keep their business around.” Returning from previous seasons are Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, and Frances Conroy – all of whom will be joining Lange’s group of “unusuals” – and will each be playing performers that Lange’s character has rescued.
It’s not confirmed at this point, but Emma Roberts and Denis O’Hare are expected to return. There’s been no mention on series favourites Taissa Farmiga, Jamie Brewer, Lily Rabe, and Gabourey Sidibe.
With only 13 episodes to the seasons, Ryan Murphy and the writers have a lot of work ahead of them. But, I imagine that this season will be full of twisted horrors – many of which will keep us all up at night.
We previously reported that Lea Michele, star of Murphy’s other hit series, Glee, recently mentioned on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, that she would love to take part in the upcoming season of American Horror Story. It would be interesting to see Lea take on a much darker role.
