In case there was any doubt that Amber Riley was perhaps one of the most talented vocalists to come out of Glee, she took to the stage on The Queen Latifah Show and beat down absolutely every doubt that any person could ever have.
Amber visited Queen Latifah herself to promote her new song “Colorblind,” the first single off her her debut album. The song was written by Claude Kelly and Emeli Sande.

What’s so incredible about Amber’s performance is not just her incredible vocals, but the lyrics of the song that, when listened to closely, can easily resonate with just about anyone.
Speaking with Queen Latifah, Amber said, “The lyrics are really true, like, you took away my colour. You took away my brightness in the world, the way that I see things, and now I only see things in black and white.”
Of course, Amber also gushed about her triumphant return to Glee with her character Mercedes making the move from LA to New York City so that she could begin to record a new album and also be closer to her friends. We know she’ll get to perform her song “Colorblind” on next week’s all-new episode, “Bash,” presumably to reflect the feelings she has after Kurt is attacked.
There’s no word yet on when Amber’s debut album will drop, but “Colorblind” will be available on iTunes on April 8.
Glee season 5, episode 15, “Bash,” airs Tuesday, April 8 at 87/C on FOX.
