Rian Johnson Will Reportedly Direct The Next Two Star Wars Films

Although J.J. Abrams is currently in the midst of filming Star Wars: Episode VII, reports about the following two films in the franchise have already surfaced.

According to reports, Lucasfilm is in the middle of making a deal with filmmaker Rian Johnson to write and direct Star Wars: Episode VIII. He is also in talks to write Episode IX.

Johnson recently wrote and directed the sci-fi time-travel drama Looper but he has been involved with films of many different genres including his debut feature Brick and the comedy The Brothers Bloom.

Although the news has not been officially confirmed, Rian Johnson has always stated his admiration for the Star Wars franchise.

Star Wars: Episode VII is currently filming. The film stars Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, John Boyega, Lupita Nyong’o, Oscar Isaac, Max von Sydow, Andy Serkis, Daisy Ridley, Gwendoline Christie and original cast members Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher.
