Season 3 of Arrow is going to get very “motherly.” Recent casting news for the CW series says that Felicity Smoak’s (Emily Bett Rickards) mother will be making an appearance during the upcoming season.
Charlotte Ross has been cast to take on the role of Oliver Queen’s (Stephen Amell) techie sidekick’s mother. Ross’s previous credits include roles on NYPD Blue, Nashville, and Glee.
According to TV Guide, Ross will be “in at least one episode in early November.” Details about the character, however, including her name, are still unknown and, for now, being kept secret.
It could be that Felicity’s mother will be appearing in what producers are calling, “the secret origin of Felicity Smoak” episode, titled “Oracle.” “We are absolutely going to get to know her,” said executive producer Marc Guggenheim. “We know that she went to MIT, we know that her mom was a cocktail waitress in Vegas and we’re going to meet that mom. And we also know that her dad is not in the picture.”
Felicity Smoak also makes an appearance, albeit under less than ideal circumstances, in a recently released trailer to promote the show’s third season.
Arrow returns for a third season on Wednesday, October 8 at 8/7C on The CW.
