David Cubitt has joined the upcoming third season of Arrow as Mark Shaw, a man who becomes Manhunter.
Cubitt is expected to make his first appearance in season 3’s third episode “Corto Maltese”.
Here’s what The Hollywood Reporter said about the character:
Who is Mark Shaw? In the DC comics, he is one of many who take on the Manhunter name. When the character makes his Starling City entrance, he will be an A.R.G.U.S. operative in Corto Maltese who crosses paths with Diggle. In comic lore, Mark has a connection to the Suicide Squad, as do Diggle and Oliver. In the past there have been nods to Manhunter on Arrow; in several episodes, a Starling City district attorney named Kate Spencer played a pivotal role in the mythology before she was killed in late season two. (One of the characters who becomes Manhunter in the comics has the same name.)
Cubitt’s previous on-screen credits include Medium and Bates Motel. Other actors to recently join the series include Brandon Routh as Atom, J.R. Ramirez as Wildcat, Devon Aoki as Katana, Charlotte Ross as Felicity’s mother, and Karl Yune as Maseo. A relatively new trailer gives fans a preview of what to expect from the characters we’ve come to love and the characters we’ve come to hate.
Season 3 of Arrow will see many changes come to Starling City as well as to Oliver and his team. The description for the season tells us that, while Oliver believes his Arrow days are behind him, nothing is ever quite that simple when you’re a Queen and a hero:
In the aftermath of this victory, Season 3 opens with Arrow now a hero to the citizens of Starling. Crime is down, people feel safer, and Captain Lance even calls off the Anti-Vigilante Task Force. Basking in his success, Oliver believes he can finally have a private life and asks Felicity out on a date. But the second Oliver takes his eye off the ball, a deadly villain reappears in Starling, forcing Oliver to realize that he can never be Oliver Queen — not as long as the city needs The Arrow.
Arrow season 3 will premiere on Wednesday, October 8 at 8PM EST on The CW.
