Kyle MacLachlan Joins "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." In Surprising Role
Kyle MacLachlan has been cast in a mysterious role for the second season of Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has added another mysterious character to their season 2 roster. Kyle MacLachlan has joined the cast, which includes newcomer Lucy Lawless, in a role that will have one main character asking some serious questions.

TVLine has reported the news and reveals that the role which MacLachlan is taking on can be “best described as… Skye’s father.”

That’s right. Skye’s mysterious, absentee father is showing up for season 2, and our guess is as good as yours when it comes to uncovering the details surrounding his and Skye’s past.

At the end of season 1, Raina approached a mysterious figure (face not shown) and gave him a photo of Skye. She finished by saying, “I found your daughter.” Presumably, of course, this man was the character that MacLachlan will now be playing.

What does this shake-up mean for the Agents? More importantly, what does it mean for season 2? Will the show’s sophomore season focus heavily on Skye’s background?

MacLachlan’s previous credits include Twin Peaks, Sex and the City, The Good Wife, and How I Met Your Mother.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s second season will premiere on Tuesday, September 23 at 9PM EST on ABC.

What do you think of the addition of Kyle MacLachlan to “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”?
