Ellen Pompeo Doesn't Have A Strong Desire To Act Post-"Grey's Anatomy"
Ellen Pompeo revealed, during a recent interview, that she doesn't see herself acting after "Grey's Anatomy". Find out exactly what she said, here!

Ellen Pompeo revealed to BuzzFeed on Wednesday night during an interview with BuzzFeed Brews that she doesn’t see herself continuing to act after her time on Grey’s Anatomy is over.

This is surprising news coming from the woman who is going into her 11th season as Dr. Meredith Grey on the hit ABC series, but it’s also very understandable when you hear the way Pompeo describes her feelings.

“I definitely don’t have a strong desire to act after Grey’s,” Pompeo told BuzzFeed. “I feel myself transitioning. I don’t find acting terribly empowering. For the place I am in my life … I don’t necessarily want to work for other people.”

Pompeo has had a run on television that is almost incomparable to many other actors. She’s had the kind of success that most actors dream of having. Her show has killed it in the ratings for years and how many television shows can say that they’ve lasted at least 11 seasons? Not many.

Pompeo elaborated on where she sees herself after her time on Grey’s Anatomy has come to an end, saying, “I’d like to try and challenge myself. I feel like I got the acting thing. I would like to try and see if I could do something different, and be successful at something different. I feel like I’m very successful at acting, at my definition of success. Some other people want films or Oscars or whatever, and that’s their journey. For my journey, I kind of feel like I did the absolute top of what I could do with television, and I would like to try a new sport and see if I’m any good at something else.”

Ellen Pompeo was being interviewed, along with Scandal‘s Kerry Washington and How to Get Away with Murder‘s Viola Davis, to promote ABC’s Shonda Rhimes-centric Thursday night lineup, affectionately referred to as “Shondaland Thursdays.”

Grey’s Anatomy season 11, episode 1 “I Must Have Lost It on the Wind” will premiere Thursday, September 25 at 8PM EST on ABC.
