A new poster and clip for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2, episode 1 have been released.
The clip features Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), Trip (B.J. Britt), and Skye (Chloe Bennet), shadowing new team members Agent Isabelle Hartley (Lucy Lawless) and Lance Hunter (Nick Blood) while the two partners are undercover:
The new clip definitely highlights the tension between the growing team who, while all taking orders from Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), seem uneasy about working together. The brewing tension is hinted at in the official synopsis for episode 1:
Coulson and his team are now wanted fugitives with limited resources, but that’s not stopping them from keeping the world safe from powerful and unseen threats everywhere. However, with new members they hardly know, will S.H.I.E.L.D. ever be trusted again?
The new poster for season 2 is chilling, purely because of the symbolism that it showcases:
Each member of Coulson’s team is standing in the middle of the S.H.I.E.L.D. symbol, covered with small cracks. Each member, excluding Coulson, casts a long shadow. However, what’s most interesting, is that Ward (Brett Dalton) is the only person in the poster to have his back turned. A large crack separates him from his closest (in terms of proximity) former teammate, Jemma (Elizabeth Henstridge).
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2, episode 1 “Shadows” will premiere on September 23 at 9PM EST on ABC.
