Lyndsy Fonseca has joined the cast of Marvel’s Agent Carter as a female friend for the show’s star, Peggy Carter.
Fonseca, who is perhaps best known for playing Alexandra Udinov on The CW’s Nikita, will join the show as Angie Martinelli, “an aspiring actress living in 1946 New York.” According to Marvel “Angie will befriend Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) as she herself seeks to find her place in the post-war world.”
Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television has nothing but kind words about Lyndsy, saying that she “brings a warmth and humanity to Angie, who’ll be the friend Peggy needs if she’s to survive the dangers that lie ahead.”
The synopsis for the show, provided by Marvel, teases the struggles that Agent Carter will face amidst a life of espionage in a male dominated world:
“‘Marvel’s Agent Carter,’ starring Captain America’s Hayley Atwell, follows the story of Peggy Carter. It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life–Steve Rogers. Inspired by the feature films ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ and ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier,’ along with the short ‘Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter.'”
Other additions to the series include Chad Michael Murray as SSR Agent Jack Thompson, Enver Gjokaj as SSR Agent Daniel Sousa, James D’Arcy as Edwin Jarvis, and Shea Whigham as SSR Chief Roger Dooley.
Agent Carter will begin in early 2015 and air on Tuesdays at 9PM EST on ABC.
