Carol Ann Susi, the actress who portrayed Howard Wolowitz’s mother on The Big Bang Theory, has passed away.
The hilarious actress passed away on Tuesday after a battle with cancer at the age of 62.
CBS, Warner Bros., and The Big Bang Theory‘s executive producers expressed their sadness in a statement:
“The Big Bang Theory family has lost a beloved member today with the passing of Carol Ann Susi, who hilariously and memorably voiced the role of Mrs. Wolowitz. Unseen by viewers, the Mrs. Wolowitz character became a bit of a mystery throughout the show’s eight seasons.
“What was not a mystery, however, was Carol Ann’s immense talent and comedic timing, which were on display during each unforgettable appearance. In addition to her talent, Carol Ann was a constant source of joy and kindness to all. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with her family during this time, and we will miss her greatly.”
Fellow cast members from the CBS sitcom took to social media to share their condolences over the loss of a wonderful co-star:

Susi’s character was known for having never appeared on screen on The Big Bang Theory, but instead would bark orders, demands, and praise at her son, played by Simon Helberg, from off screen. The character was often criticized for her overweight stature and her unpleasant habits, with her own son making fun of her on occasion.
Our thoughts are with Carol Ann’s family and friends during this sad time.
