A Daring Rescue

Korra arrives back on Air Temple Island with Jinora, Ikki, and Meelo, where she is quickly greeted by an eager Bumi and a relieved Tenzin. She immediately apologizes for not being able to stop Kuvira, but Tenzin reassures her that no one expected her to be able to handle Kuvira on her own.

Korra meets Asami, Mako, and Prince Wu in a Republic City restaurant. The three friends reunite for the first time in three years. Mako accidentally finds out that Korra wrote to Asami while she was away and wonders why she never wrote to himself or Bolin.

"The Legend of Korra" Book 4, Episode 7 Recap: Home At Last

Asami tells Korra that she visited her father in prison after he had been writing her for a while. Korra asks if Asami is sure that she can trust him and points out that he might just be trying to manipulate her. Asami takes offense to Korra’s insinuation, considering that she’s been gone for the past three years.

Prince Wu goes to the bathroom by himself after Mako refuses to accompany him. While he’s in there, he’s knocked out by one of Kuvira’s agents and taken away.

Mako begins to wonder where Wu is and the three friends go searching for him. Korra spots a mysterious man leaving through a back exit with a large laundry bin. She questions him and sees Prince Wu in the back of a laundry truck. Before she can do anything, the man uses his earthbending to throw Korra into the air.

Korra, Asami, and Mako chase the men down in Asami’s car, but by the time they catch up, they find that Wu is no longer in the car. Mako arrests the driver and has him sent to the police station for processing.

The friends realize that there are thousands of cars in the city and the chances of finding the Earth Kingdom’s heir is unlikely. Korra, however, remembers one of her lessons with Toph and uses some nearby spirit vine to locate the Prince.

They eventually track Wu to the train station and Korra once again uses her newly developed technique to pinpoint the exact train car that Wu is on. The three board the train and eventually find Wu locked in a trunk in the luggage car. They’re quickly attacked by Kuvira’s agents on board, but the manage to escape for a moment through the roof which Korra metalbends apart.

A short fight ensues on top of the train before Korra grabs her two friends and Wu and jumps from the train, just as it’s passing over a canyon. She uses her airbending to create a sphere of protection around them as they fall to the ground.

Korra decides that it’s too dangerous for Wu to return to his residence at the hotel, so Mako takes the group to one of Asami’s home where she has been letting Mako’s family from Ba Sing Sei stay since the Earth Queen’s demise. Mako’s grandmother faints when she sees Prince Wu. Mako tells him that she loves royalty. Wu agrees that he’s going to like it here and rushes off to use the bathroom.

On The Run

Varrick and Bolin have escaped from Kuvira and are stuck wandering aimlessly through thick forest, trying to get back to Republic City to warn the leaders about Kuvira’s weapon. Bolin gives Varrick a lecture on doing things for himself now that Zhu Li has deserted him for Kuvira. When Varrick finally agrees to carry his own weight, the two are captured by a group of prisoners who’ve escaped from one of Kuvira’s reeducation camps.

Bolin tries to convince them that they really have deserted “The Great Uniter,” but it does take some convincing. Eventually, he hatches a plan to get himself, Varrick, and the escaped prisoners past a checkpoint in Kuvira’s Earth Empire. He chains them all together and tells the guards that he and Varrick had just recovered them. Ultimately, Varrick is the one to bring the story home and the group is let through. However, once they’re on the other side, a guard recognizes Bolin and Varrick from two wanted posters and a fight ensues.

"The Legend of Korra" Book 4, Episode 7 Recap: Home At Last

The group that Bolin is helping is composed of waterbenders and firebenders. But, the guards have the large armor robot things. Varrick, while everyone else is fighting, fashions some sort of magnetic pulsation device that, once activated, shuts down the armor robot things. Bolin uses his lavabending to scare away the rest of the guards.

Eventually, the group makes it to a dock where the group thanks Bolin and Varrick for their help and offers to give them a ride to Republic City in their boat.

At the very end of the episode, Kuvira and Baatar Jr. are in the swamp where Korra trained with Toph. Kuvira orders her soldiers to harvest the vines of the great spirit tree until there’s nothing left. I’m going to assume that they plan to use the energy of the vines for their destructive weapon. But, assuming Toph is still lurking around, I can’t imagine she’d allow Kuvira to destroy her home.
