ITV has announced new plot details and cast information for the upcoming Downton Abbey season 5 Christmas special. A new poster has also been released!

The description of the episode tells us that we will see the Crawley family attending a grouse shooting party at Brancaster Castle in Northumberland at the invitation of Rose’s new father-in-law, Lord Sinderby.

“While good sport is enjoyed, Stowell has an axe to grind and a scandalous secret threatens to undermine the holiday,” the description reveals. “Surprises are in store as the families become better acquainted with each other and some new faces arrive on the scene.”

“Meanwhile the servants hold the fort back at Downton. As Anna faces an uncertain future behind bars, Bates takes drastic measures in a bid to clear her name. Baxter and Molesley are busy on a joint plan and Carson and Mrs Hughes consider a business venture.”

ITV has also released a promotional poster for the event, which depicts the Crawley and Sinderby families (with a few notable members missing) in front of Brancaster Castle:
