The first four images from the upcoming illustrated editions of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone have been released by Scholastic and Bloomsbury.

The illustrated books were first announced over a year ago in December 2013 with award-winning British artist, Jim Kay, doing the artwork. “To be given the opportunity to design the characters, the clothing, the architecture and landscapes to possibly the most expansive fantasy world in children’s literature, well let’s just say I’m extremely excited about it,” Kay said in a press release from Scholastic.

The four images, featuring Hermione Granger, Draco Malfoy, Ron Weasley, and Rubeus Hagrid, depict the four characters at their earliest stages in the best-selling series:

The deluxe hardcover edition of The Sorcerer’s Stone will feature 110 full-colour illustrations as well as new cover images which will also be designed by Kay.

Kay will do the artwork for the entire Harry Potter series, with a new book being released each year, ending with The Deathly Hallows‘ release in 2021.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone will be released in stores in the US and the UK on October 6, 2015.
