20th Century Fox has finally released the first trailer for the upcoming Fantastic Four remake film, directed by Josh Trank.
The new trailer seems to stray from the traditional route of superhero films and seems a bit more like Interstellar than a Marvel teaser. Either way, the trailer is able to excite, without giving too much away. After all, the film doesn’t come out in theatres until summer 2015!
Watch the new Fantastic Four trailer below:
The description for the film teases it as “a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team…” It “centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.”
It’s still too soon to really know how the new Fantastic Four film will differ from the original. In the 2005 film, a group of scientists traveled to space and were hit by a cosmic energy cloud that gave them each unique superpowers. The film went on to gross over $330 million. Tts sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, brought in far less, at only $289 million.
Fantastic Four stars Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell, and Miles Teller, and will hit theatres on August 7, 2015.
