As you likely already know, The CW is planning a massive Arrow/The Flash spinoff series that will feature characters from both series. Today, two new actors have been added to the show’s already glorious lineup.
Arthur Darvill has been cast as Rip Hunter, a man who uses the Time-Sphere (his own creation) to travel through time. The character’s casting call described him as a “Han Solo-esque rogue who gets by with his charm, this hero hails from the future, and has journeyed back in time on a secret mission. His razor-sharp wit hides the pain of a man who has lived through serious conflict. He also harbors many secrets, always leaving both his teammates and the audience unsure of his true allegiances.”
Darvill’s past credits include Broadchurch, The White Queen, and Doctor Who.
Ciara Renée, a rising Broadway star, has landed the role of Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl. In the upcoming series, Kendra “is a young woman who is just beginning to learn that she has been repeatedly reincarnated over the centuries. When provoked, her ancient warrior persona manifests itself, along with wings that grow out of her back, earning her the moniker Hawkgirl.”
The show, with Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and Marc Guggenheim at the helm, will feature Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer/The Atom), Wentworth Miller (Leonard Snart/Captain Cold), Dominic Purcell (Mick Rory/Heat Wave), Victor Garber (Dr. Martin Stein), and Caity Lotz in an undisclosed role. Lotz’s Arrow character was killed off at the beginning of season 3, with her sister, Laurel, taking over as Black Canary.
