I’ve always wanted to be able to pick Reese Witherspoon up and put her in my pocket because she’s just too damn cute. This latest announcement doesn’t technically get me any closer towards achieving this goal, but seeing her as a tiny pixie might make it easier to realistically imagine.
Disney has cast Witherspoon as Tinker Bell, the tiny companion to Peter Pan, for their upcoming, live-action film, Tink. Witherspoon, along with her production company, Pacific Standard, is also set to produce the film.
There have been no details yet as to what the plot of the film may be, but I’m hearing that it will borrow from Peter Pan‘s story.
The film’s script will be written by Victoria Strouse, who is also one of the writers for the upcoming Finding Nemo sequel, Finding Dory.
The film is only the latest in a string of classic Disney stories to be adapted into live-action movies, which includes Maleficent and Cinderella, as well as the upcoming Beauty and the Beast, Dumbo, and Winnie the Pooh.
Tink is still in the early stages of pre-production, so naturally no release date has yet to be given.
This casting news comes as quite a shock to me, as I had no idea this movie was even happening. I guess I need to hop back on the ball and keep my feelers out because Disney just took a “live-action laxative” and they’re about to make it rain – so-to-speak.
