Ever since news broke that The Mindy Project was making the jump from Fox to Hulu, I’ve been clamouring for any kind of information about the upcoming fourth season. Who will be there? What’s going to happen? How did Danny’s meeting with Mindy’s parents turn out? It’s all just too much for one person to handle.
This morning, however, I came across an article from Entertainment Weekly that contained a small, probably insignificant spoiler about season 4 and I thought that I should share it with all of the other crazy Mindy fans that frequent this site.
“Word on the street is [the birth]will happen early in the season,” the spoiler says. “I also hear that, location-wise, it’s a rather unconventional birth.”
An unconventional birth could very well be a barn, a McDonalds, or underneath Morgan’s desk in phlebotomy – basically anything that isn’t a hospital bed.
Mindy Kaling, the show’s creator and star, has been sharing a few photos on Instagram recently that show a very pregnant Mindy Lahiri in different settings. One of the more recent photos (below) includes the caption: “Night shoot, 9 months pregnant, season 4 #missoni #themindyproject”
Now, Kaling herself has confirmed that at this point in the production process, her character is nine months pregnant. Only two weeks ago, she snapped another photo (below) of one of the show’s first table reads for season 4. Now, I’m not Olivia Benson, but if we do the math (carry the one, multiply by seven or something) then it’s likely that Mindy is nine months pregnant near the very beginning of season 4 and thus the spoiler above is probably true.
Did anyone follow that logic?
Another interesting find on Kaling’s Instagram is this photo (below):
In the shot, we see Morgan, Tamra, and Beverly sporting “Later, baby!” attire, presumably as a collaborative effort to bid Mindy’s baby farewell as she prepares to deliver him/her into this world. Mindy’s co-workers are known for going above and beyond when it comes to stuff like this (remember #TeamPeter?), but what I really want to know is could this photo be a scene from when Mindy’s in labour? If so, where’s Danny?
Also interesting to note is the presence of Brendan and Duncan Deslaurier, the midwives from upstairs who the doctors of Shulman & Associates can’t stand. If Mindy is going to be giving birth in an “unconventional” way, there really is nothing more unconventional than a subway car with two people you can’t stand ready and able to deliver your baby.
Just food for thought.
