The Legend of Korra and Avatar: The Last Airbender fandoms will live on forever because Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino are just as committed to keeping it alive as the shows’ fans are.
Konietzko recently took to his personal Tumblr to share a peek inside the upcoming book, The Legend of Korra Book 4: Balance: The Art of the Animated Series, due out September 15.
Fans are eager to get their hands on the final installment to the popular Art of the Animated Series books which highlight and explore the incredible and detailed art of each respective season. In Book 4: Balance, Korra was forced to confront her own inner demons, all while Kuvira, who quickly to power in the Earth Kingdom, threatened to throw the world out of balance in order to reunite her homeland after the death of the Earth Queen in Book 3: Change.
The cover of the book shows a dazed and dreary Korra, with the spirit of Raava glowing brightly, standing near the new spirit portal that was created in the centre of Republic City after Korra’s fantastic battle with Kuvira. Given the amount of strife that Korra faced in Book 4, it’s not surprising that the creators of the show would choose to illustrate her in such a way for the book’s cover. Korra’s journey, throughout the entire course of the show, was unpredictable and life-threatening, but the Avatar understood her duty to the world and always sacrificed her safety for the well-being of others. Despite everything, however, I think it’s safe to say that her fight with Kuvira was her toughest battle by far.
“I am thrilled with how it turned out and can’t wait for people to be able to get these in just a few weeks,” Konietzko wrote on Tumblr. “For me, it is like having a nice family photo album that gives me the warm fuzzies. Thanks to everyone whose incredible work is showcased within.”
