New "X-Men: Apocalypse" Poster: "The world belongs to the strong"
A new poster for "X-Men: Apocalypse," starring Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, and James McAvoy, sees villain Apocalypse crushing a skull.

The closer X-Men: Apocalypse comes to hitting theatres, the more promotional material fans get treated to, and the more excited I become.

The most recent advertising initiative to pop up on the internet is a new poster for the Bryan Singer-directed action movie that sees Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, and more once again take on their mutant personas in a battle against the world’s most ancient and powerful mutant, Apocalypse.

The chilling poster shows Apocalypse, whose likeness many have compared to Ivan Ooze, the purple villain from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie, crushing the skull of one of his victims. On Facebook, the poster was accompanied with the tagline, “The world belongs to the strong.”

It’s no secret that Apocalypse isn’t a fan of humans and views mutants as superior in all respects, but the film’s description speaks even further to his evil plan to “cleanse mankind”:

“Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.”

X-Men: Apocalypse, which also stars Rose Byrne, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Lucas Till, Nicholas Hoult, Oscar Isaac, and Evan Peters will hit theatres on May 27, 2016.
