The news of the show’s curtain call comes on the heels of its fifth season premiere, set for February 21. According to Deadline, “the decision was made virtually unanimously, with HBO brass and the series producers agreeing that was the right lifespan for the series…”

The shows official Twitter account shared the news on Wednesday, writing, “Feel all the feels: #Girls will return for a 6th and final season in 2017,” along with a photo of the show’s four leading ladies – Dunham, Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, and Zosia Mamet.
