Melissa McCarthy Is Officially Returning For Netflix's "Gilmore Girls" Revival
Melissa McCarthy just dropped a massive "Gilmore Girls" announcement about the show's upcoming Netflix revival!

We’ve been waiting for this day ever since Netflix announced that it was reviving Gilmore Girls as four 90-minute movies.

Originally, as many of you will recall, Melissa McCarthy, who played Sookie St. James on the hit series, had indicated she would not be returning to her Stars Hollow roots. The reasoning behind it has been a bit scattered – Melissa at once said she was never asked, but then the problem of scheduling came up. Really, I don’t know what the hell was going on there.

Either way, Melissa was recently on The Ellen Show and revealed she will be returning to Gilmore Girls as Lorelai’s (Lauren Graham) best friend and co-owner of the Dragonfly Inn.

“There has something I’ve been asked about so, so many times, and it hasn’t worked out. They’re making four new movies of the Gilmore Girls, which is a show that was near and dear to my heart for four years, and we could not get those schedules to work,” McCarthy told DeGeneres. “There was a whole thing, and then I was going to be out of the country, and literally about an hour and a half ago, we figured out that I’m going to go back and do it, and I am so excited! They’re going to be amazing.”

Previously, the show’s creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, told Entertainment Weekly that should Melissa be able to return to the show, they already had a plan as to how to make it work. “I know what the scene is. I’ll pre-light it for her. She can drive up, run in, shoot it, and run out,” she said. “I can get her in and out in two hours. If she finds that time, I don’t care when it is, we will make it happen.”
