Charmed and dangerous!
According to TVLine, The CW is ordering a one-hour pilot script of a Charmed “prequel,” helmed by Jane the Virgin EP Jennie Snyder Urman.
As of now, there are no discernible connections to the spellbinding show’s original cast – Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs, Alyssa Milano, and Rose McGowan. According to reports, it will feature an all-new cast and could possibly centre “around three witches who are brought together to fight evil in a small New England town circa 1976.”
Below are very unofficial descriptions of the new Charmed trio:
Tina: African American. Whip-smart, Tina is one dissertation (and one dissertation advisor) away from a PhD. She can be reserved, even standoffish, in uncomfortable situations, but she picks up on everything and she’s definitely making quick, accurate judgments about you.
Paige: Caucasian Cheerful, curvy, wholesome and as all-American as the apple pie she can’t wait to serve to the husband she has yet to marry. Paige’s main goal in life is to marry a rich doctor and be a wife and mother.
Annie: Caucasian. Intense, smart, and quick to anger. She dresses neutrally, though she could give two s–ts if you like her outfit, so stop wondering what “neutral” means. But under that tough façade, well… there is a fragility. A person desperate to be loved, and love.
For those unaware, the original Charmed series, which ran from 1998-2006, followed three sisters – originally Prue, Piper, and Phoebe Halliwell, and, upon Prue’s death, half-sister Paige Matthews – who discover their extraordinary magical lineage, dating all the way back to the Salem Witch Trials. Destined to fight evil, these sisters are the most powerful witches the world has ever known, unparalleled in their magic might.
Through eight seasons, we watch as the sisters come into their own, both as witches and women. The show was well-known for being billed as a series about three sisters who happen to be witches, rather than three witches who happen to be sisters – a plot point that allowed fans to bond closely with the characters through the familiar and relatable bonds of family.
