Of course, if we waste this valuable time on watching cute puppies and posting stupid videos on Facebook instead of paying attention to what really matters, we are seriously missing the point here.

  1. We are in all connected (otherwise known as “A lesson in Oneness”)

If we ever needed proof that we are all connected and that everything we touch (literally as well as metaphorically) is connected to everything else, now we have it. Finally (and hopefully) a big realization is starting to dawn on us: we can no longer continue to “pee” in one end of the pool (i.e. the Planet) and go swim in the other end thinking that our shit won’t catch up with us. We all swim in the same pool and whatever we do in that pool does come back to us. Thus, taking “dirty” production out of Europe into China (and this is just one of millions of examples of separation) cannot and does not serve Europe (or any other continent for that matter). For the shit inevitably comes back, as the virus spread is illustrating clearly. Incidentally, isn’t it remarkable that a situation that calls for social isolation (i.e. apparent separation) in fact intensifies the feeling that we are all connected, that we are all in this (and every other thing) together!

Old structures need to be torn down so we can start fresh (hopefully with new awareness albeit with little resources). On the face of it, it is not accidental that the virus has so far targeted the life of primarily old people with one, two or more pre-existing conditions, i.e. these are people that should have been dead a while ago if it weren’t for the artificial ways of extending life. But the artificial life-saving resources are now running out (no breathing machines, no medical personnel or other supplies). So that should make us rethink the life-saving technologies that so many people have come to rely on and have, as a result, relinquished personal health responsibilities. What about focusing on disease prevention plans instead (when the pandemic is over): healthy eating, exercising, meditating, etc.? How many people would have heart disease and diabetes (the two top conditions that go hand-in-hand with coronavirus deaths), if there was no junk food or modern stress?

  1. Get comfortable with death by making every moment of life count

Death in and of itself is not a tragedy. Rather, a wasted life is a tragedy. A person who has lived with integrity, has contributed meaningfully to themselves and to the society, and has maintained quality relationships during their life time, has no regrets. This kind of person is ready to die anytime, and happily. Become that person yourself. Re-evaluate your priorities and start spending time on what matters. Let go of the grudge. Start to feel that you are connected to all other human beings. Forgive. Feel more love and less resentment. Stop living a tragic life and your death won’t be tragic either. They can both be a celebration.

So these are some of the messages I think we need to hear right now. Of course, there are many other things to be taken into account and much more will be revealed to us in the course of this experience. That’s why we need to stay flexible, observe carefully (pay attention), ask smart questions and continue to search for their answers deep within. This way we are really taking advantage of the situation by cleaning up our own baggage. Any other behaviour (e.g. impatience, frustration, anger and looking forward to this blowing over so things can go back to “normal”) is immature. We need a shift in consciousness (to shift the virus) and if we resist it, the virus will persist.

Three Steps to Reducing Fear of Coronavirus

As Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread, many people are feeling powerless, unsafe and downright terrified about what may be coming. We want to take action, to take back control, but we don’t know what to do. So our fears magnify, making us less rational, and this puts added stress on our bodies at a time when we all want to be strong.

Fear itself is very like a virus. It replicates, and it passes from person to person. Fear breeds panic. This not only undermines us as individuals, but also sabotages the mechanics of society, which now more than ever needs to be efficient.

However, if you know how to reduce your fear, this keeps your mind clear, promotes wellbeing and helps those around you to remain calm too. It’s a win-win situation! We have to wait and trust in science to solve the physical problem, but we absolutely do have control over the mental and emotional aspects, even in extreme circumstances.

So, how do you do this, when your fears are intense and out of control?

Here are my three steps to reducing your fear and maintaining your calm in times of crisis:

1) The first step is to pull back your power; this is a technique I teach to promote calm and reduce anxiety in many situations. You can learn this very easily.

Close your eyes, take a few slow breaths, and allow yourself to become aware of any fear or anxiety you are feeling – maybe it’s a fear of the virus itself, fear about a report you just heard on the news, or fear for consequences to yourself or your loved-ones. Picture that fear outside of your body, out in the world.

Now imagine a wire running between your chest and the source of your fear. On the wire is threaded a brightly coloured ball, like a beach ball. This is the ball of your power and at the moment your fear has the power and you are powerless.

In your mind’s eye, reach out, grab that ball and pull it along the wire right back into your chest, focusing intently on the ball as you do so – the focus is very important. Now keep your focus on the ball of power within your chest. Hold that focus for as long as you can.

As you do this, you get your power back, and your fear loses its power over you. You will begin to feel calm returning, and your mind will relax.

2) Now that your mind is calmer, it is time to create a new empowering mindset. Deep in our subconscious minds are ancestral fears around plague, and these old patterns have been triggering within us. Our subconscious minds do not understand that things have changed since then.

The truth is that the Coronavirus is thankfully NOT plague as our ancestors knew it. Our living conditions and our scientific expertise are light-years away from those times. We have many factors in our favour which make direct comparisons with the past inappropriate. Yes, we have a global challenge, but we are resourceful and have brilliant minds capable of finding a solution. As you continue to breathe gently, imagine breathing in these truths and breathing out all those old ancestral understandings that have been triggered within you. Imagine your subconscious mind being updated with accurate 21st century information.

3) Finally, bring in the understanding that the more you keep your fears in check, the lower your body’s stress will be, and the better you will be able to deal with this threat and any other. Taking this action to reduce your fear and anxiety really does keep you safer. Hold that understanding in your mind for a few moments and then open your eyes and carry on with your day.

Go through this procedure each time your fears start to grow. It only takes a couple of minutes but it can have a profoundly beneficial effect on your mental and emotional wellbeing.

When you take action to pull your power back from the fear, your mind feels safer and clearer, your anxiety and stress reduce, and you are in a much better state to deal with the situation.

Just as fear replicates, so does calm. When you hold this positive mindset, you will help others to do the same, and this is in turn will help us all create the best possible outcome in this challenging time.

Sadly, the United States, with approximately, 4.5% of the world’s population, has experienced, close to one – quarter, of all the cases, and nearly 20% of the deaths! However, even, after all of this, we continue to witness, far – too many individuals, who, for several reasons, seem unwilling to accept, we each possess personal responsibility, to be, truly, socially responsible, and take, the necessary steps, to attempt to, at the very – least, bend – the – curve, until the vaccines are provided, to a large percentage of the public! How many more, must die, or suffer, severely, before most of us, do so? Stop complaining about public health restrictions, and complaining about your so – called, personal freedoms, and consider, the health, and well – being of the public, should, and must, become the top priorities! With that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, 5 things, each of us, should do, to become part of the solution.

1. Wear a mask: If you have been wearing a mask, continue, doing so! Politicians, who have ignored these, for the political advantage, have harmed the public! Even, house – parties, have shown, dangerous ramifications!

4. Follow suggestions of public health experts: Instead of listening to what you want to hear, pay close attention, to what you need to know, and behave accordingly! It is way, past – time, for us, to, merely, do what, we find, serves our preferences, and/ or, personal agenda, etc, and realize, it makes sense to follow the suggestions/ guidelines of the public health experts, rather than any elected official (even one, who states, he is a stable genius)!

5. Get vaccinated: Even, the greatest vaccine, unless most people, get vaccinated, won’t have the desirable results! The experts claim, these are, among, the safest vaccines, developed, and are effective! Don’t be stupid!

5 Things, We All Must Do, To Beat This Pandemic!

Nearly, everyone, at – this – point, is, really, tired – of, this pandemic, which has changed our lives, for over a year. Instead, of emphasizing, politics, and/ or, absurd, conspiracy theories, doesn’t it make sense, to proceed, proactively, to do something, to eliminate its impacts? Although, the population of the United States, represents, only, about 4.5% of the world’s, the suffering has been, far greater (approximately, about one – quarter of the cases/ infections/ positive tests, and one – fifth of the fatalities)! Instead of thinking, we know better, than the public health scientists, and experts, wouldn’t we, fare – better, if/ when, we followed their suggestions and guidance? In order to, finally, return to some level, of, normal, and stop the horrific suffering, it is, past – time, for all of us, regardless of political/ personal agenda, and/ or, self – interest, to do everything, possible, for the common good! With that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, 5 basic things, we must do, sooner, rather than later.

1. Public health/ Common sense/ personal responsibility: When, certain politicians, articulated a message, putting, perceived – economic benefits, etc, ahead of the overall, public health, and well – being, the public, generally, loses! Instead, common sense, and personal responsibility, should tell, each of us, to do, our part, to turn – the – tide!

2. Actions/ wear a mask/ social spacing: If, we only took, certain actions, such as wearing a mask (properly), social spacing, avoiding crowds, and assuming personal responsibility, the level of infection, would be significantly, reduced!

3. Remain vigilant: Don’t let your guard – down, now, because, we finally, have a vaccination, available! Do your part, and, if medically – able, get vaccinated, when your time, comes! Even then, remain vigilant, and, until, the public health experts, inform us, it is safe, keep doing the right things!

4. Get vaccinated when it’s your turn: When, I became eligible, I got vaccinated, and, so should you! The only way, we will end, this nightmare, is, if, a significant percentage (most experts state, herd immunity requires, at least 70%), assist, and get theirs!

5. Together is the best way, out, and forward: We can end this horrific pandemic, if/ when, we wake up, stop the bickering (and, stupidity), and proceed, in a united/ unified manner! Together, we can beat this, but it will take patience, understanding, doing the right things, and listening to the expert’s suggestions!

If we want to heal, the nation, both, emotionally/ mentally, as well as, in terms of the public health, we must proceed, wisely, and together! Will you be, part of the solution?
