You can always rent a car in Oman if you are here for only a few weeks. But if you are going to stay longer then renting a car can prove quite expensive. In that case, you should consider buying an affordable Nissan Oman car as they are quite popular in the country. But to own a car in Oman, you will have to meet the following requirements:
- You must be a resident of the Sultanate State as you cannot buy a car in Oman on a visit-visa.
- You will need to get a driving license in Oman.
If you do meet these requirements, you can go to a dealer with the following documents to purchase a used or new car:
- Original Passport and its copy (Must include a copy of the visa page)
- At least a couple of passport photos that your dealer might ask for
- If you are working in the Sultanate, you will need a copy of your labor card (In case you are not there for work, you must bring a sponsorship certificate)
- Your driving License and its copy
- A vehicle purchase form which you can get from your car dealership or a police station
