This is because many stutterers have been conditioned by society to think that they are not normal, and they are therefore forced to put up with the limitations and restrictions they face. Others go through their lives without knowing that there are better options available. If you feel that you are not being understood, you can quickly revert back to your old habits and make things even worse.
If you have a friend or a loved one who is a fluent speaker, you might want to ask them to practice your language with you. Many co-workers are often willing to practice on you since they value your job. By simply converse with them, you will get better. Eventually, you might be asked out on a date with them.
