Finally… An Easy To Understand Introduction To Computers

Published

on

When you mention the word “technology,” most people think about computers. Virtually every facet of our lives has some computerized component. The appliances in our homes have microprocessors built into them, as do our televisions. Even our cars have a computer. However, the computer that

everyone thinks of first is typically the personal computer, or PC.

It is a general-purpose tool, built around a microprocessor.

A PC has many different parts such as memories, a hard

disk,

a modem, etc that work together. A PC is said to be “general

purpose” because you can do many different things with it

like: you can use it to type documents, send e-mail, browse

the Web and play games.

Let us look at the main components of a typical desktop

computer.

Central processing unit (CPU): The microprocessor “brain”

of

the computer system is referred to as the central

processing

unit. The CPU oversees everything that a computer does.

Memory: This fast storage area is for storing data and is

connected directly to the microprocessor. That’s why it is

fast. There are various types of memory in a computer

system:

Random-access memory (RAM): Used to temporarily store

information that the computer is currently working with.

Read-only memory (ROM): It refers to computer memory

chips,

containing permanent or semi-permanent data that does

not

change.

Basic Input/Output: Required to establish the basic

communication when the system is turned on. It is directly

connected to the motherboard.

Caching: The storing of frequently used data in extremely

fast RAM that connects directly to the CPU.

Virtual memory: Used to temporarily store data and swap it

in and out of the RAM.

Motherboard: This is the main board in the computer that

has

the processor, the RAM, the BIOS ROM, the timing and

control, the interrupt and direct memory access hardware

and

the keyboard interface on it which are connected to it

through the secondary connection.

Soundcard: this device attaches to the motherboard with a

socket called PCI, which allows the computer to play CD’s

or

music files, or MP3 CD’s. All soundcards have speakers

and

connectors. The quality of sound depends upon the quality

of the card.

Hard drive: This is the main storage device of a computer.

It stores information including the OS that allows you to

access it all. Most common OS for PCs is Microsoft

Windows.

And Apple computers use the Macintosh operating system.

Other drives: Most computers are also complete with floppy

disk and CD drives. These vary from system to system,

however all work in same way. They read information stored

on disks. These are necessary for maintaining and

updating

the computer’s software and operating system.

That’s the components that create the average computer.

Although there are many different systems, and configura-

tions, it is difficult to imagine our lives without them.

5 Ways to Extend Your Android Smartphone’s Battery Life

Published

on

By

Smartphone batteries don’t last forever, and some devices have an almost-embarrassing screen-on time. Those big, luscious AMOLED and LCD screens and taxing apps are an obvious drain on your battery, but there are lots of things you can do behind-the-scenes to make your Android last longer. Let’s explore how to increase battery on your smartphone.
How Android batteries work
First, some background: most smartphones have either a lithium-ion battery or a lithium-polymer battery. Both are actually lithium-ion though, and as such, do not have a ‘memory’, which means you can charge them from any level – you don’t have to fully discharge them before charging them up – and you don’t have to charge them all the way to 100 percent.
In fact, these types of batteries suffer from low voltage problems, so it’s actually better to partially charge them (say, from 20 percent to 90 percent) than to fully charge and fully drain them. Battery care is always open for debate though, so for every accepted tip there will be someone that says it makes no difference. Just find the ones that work for you and you can increase battery on your Android device.
To our chagrin, most devices released nowadays don’t have removable batteries. This looks like it won’t change anytime soon. And despite most of them being close to 3,000 mAh they still need to be optimized, especially for demanding new games. Take advantage of some of the tips below and really get the most out of your smartphone.
1. Black wallpaper can increase battery
If your phone has an AMOLED screen (like most Samsung devices), use a dark-colored background. Black wallpaper can increase battery life because AMOLED screens only illuminate the colored pixels. Black pixels are unlit, so the blacker pixels you have, or the darker pixels, the less power is needed to light them up.
To download a completely black wallpaper, tap the link here.
• Now, save the picture and go into your Settings.
• From there tap Wallpaper hit Choose wallpaper and scroll down to Gallery.
• You should be able to find the black wallpaper you just saved.
• Hit set to wallpaper and lock screen.
2. Doze Mode
Doze mode has been around since Android Marshmallow, but has been improved with newer Android versions. Before, Doze would only work when the smartphone has been stationary for a while. But now, it can also work when it’s being moved around (in your bag or pocket while you’re on the go, for example). The screen just needs to be off to work.
Doze mode essentially just shuts down things you’re not using depending on how long it has been since you’ve touched your phone. Network connection is severed and syncing only happens during specific intervals. When you’re away from your phone even longer, more things are stopped, like GPS, Wi-Fi scanning and all syncing.
3. Turn off Google Assistant
Stop your phone from always listening. Google Assistant is a fantastic and often very functional feature. The problem is that it can wreak havoc with your battery. Especially if you don’t actually use it or only use it occasionally.
Go into Google>Search from your Settings menu and tap Google Assistant>Settings heading. On the next page, select your device and toggle off Google Assistant for longer battery life.
4. Don’t let your apps fall behind the times
Keep your apps updated. There’s a reason developers constantly update apps, and most of the time it’s for memory or battery optimization. Keeping your apps updated also means you have the best optimizations available. Likewise, delete old apps you no longer use, because these may be running background processes that chew up RAM and battery life.
Once you’ve ensured your apps are up-to-date you can go through them individually and check if they’re optimized for battery life. This can be done quite quickly. Just go into your Settings and tap Battery. From there hit the menu button (three dots at the top right of your screen) and go to Battery optimization. From there you can see which apps are optimized and change them. You can only change the non-essential system apps. Watch the video below to see how this is done.
5. Use Greenify
Unlike many Android apps that claim to optimize performance and increase battery life, Greenify actually works. Greenify allows you to put other apps into hibernation when they aren’t in use, preventing them from operating in the background.
This frees up system resources and boosts battery performance, but requires a bit of thought. For Greenify to be effective you can’t just hibernate every installed app. But since there are a lot of Android apps that perform actions you don’t know about, or necessarily want, this is a useful tool.

How Secure Are Online Data Backups?

Published

By

Processing DATA is what all businesses do. Protecting data is what SMART businesses do. Smart businesses understand that if they lose their data they lose their business.

If you are considering taking steps to ensure the integrity and safety of your important computer data you may be concerned about the security involved when dealing with such a task. When considering a third party such as an online secure data backup solution there are a few things to consider:

For starters, it is critical that your data be secure not only while in the possession of a third party but also while in transit to them. Most modern online secure data backup providers make there services available via the Internet and will provide you with the necessary software to back up a predefined set of your critical data, which is then encrypted (typically up to 448 bit), before it is transferred over a high speed connection to a secure data storage facility. By securing your data before transferring it over the Internet, you can be assured that your sensitive data (such as financial reports, company memos, and client databases) are safe from prying eyes. For ultra-critical, or highly sensitive applications, the data may be transferred over a completely encrypted channel (also known as an encrypted “tunnel” or virtual private network). If you will be backing up sensitive data that demands the utmost of privacy be sure to inquire about the level of encryption offered by the online secure data backup you are considering.

When considering a remote data backup vendor you should also take into consideration the facilities in which your sensitive data will be physically stored. In addition to encryption technology other things to be on the lookout for are fully secure facilities, biometric security systems, facility lockout policies, and human security. Depending on the level of security you need there are many levels of protection for your data that can be provided by remote data backup companies.

Be sure to do your research and investigate the track record and reputation of the online data backup company you are considering doing business with and never hesitate to ask questions when it comes to ensuring the security of your mission critical confidential data.

Your DATA is your LIFE. Protect it!

If you’re planning to grow your online business, it’s important for you to get the best service that it needs in order to be successful. This is still vital for you even if your technical knowledge on building your website has improved with training and study. Colocation hosting is among the solutions you can choose from among the hosting services you can get especially if you’re particular on the budget that you need to allot. Even if this service will make you as the middle man on the service, you’re still given full access on this service as if you’re the one who’s the main person to control it. You’re the one to manage the server and customize it depending on your needs.

The good thing about this service is that it will not only let you control the server but also various hardware and software customizations. In addition, connectivity will not have any problems on your end as you’ll get it right from the service providers or the host that provides the plan. After knowing its features, your next question is now about finding the right colocation hosting provider and plan for your needs. You’ll find a good number of service providers online that can provide the ideal services for you. For instance, they provide 99% uptime for their service with the use of their power generator. This will provide electricity for their services in instances of extreme environmental conditions like heavy rain and others.

In terms of what to avoid in finding a hosting service, one of the things to remember is not to hire services that are located on areas with high possibility of experiencing extreme environmental condition. The chances are you’ll get a lot of problems once they experience power outage due to different environmental situations. 5 Real Ways to Make Money Online

Published

on

By

This has always been a great question, and there are many different schools of thought on this subject.

A person could argue products like software, eBooks, and virtual information are amongst the most marketable as they are easy to duplicate and have no shipping costs. It’s true a virtual product can absolutely simplify your post-sale process, however are they truly the best overall product strategy? In my opinion it all comes down to the demand, then the numbers. Calculate what price you can create or retain a product for and then calculate what price you can sell it for while keeping in mind advertising, shipping, and other expenses that fall between those two processes.

Determine your total costs from start to finish. I wouldn’t even consider selling a product or service that fetches me any less than 80 percent gross profit per unit, unless it had a great backend or up-sell strategy or some type of recurring subscription based profit model.

lf you find that managing inventory or working with suppliers and drop shippers is more slanted towards your personal experience then work with a product that feels comfortable with you, you will benefit from the familiarity. The importance of comfort might just be the most influential factor for me when choosing a product to wrap around your marketing. Many people want to sell online but have no idea what products to sell. In my experience selling something for profit alone with no personal passion can be a mistake and I have found that building an email list for marketing and growing your brand is a cheap effective way to get started quickly.

5 Products you can sell and make money using “email marketing”.

  1. Digital products and virtual services. Digital products are easy to duplicate, store, and ship digitally via email or file sharing service.
  2. Affiliate marketing programs. Many companies online look for enthusiastic individuals to resell their products or services. Scrolling to the footer of a business’s website will typically link to any affiliate program if offered. You can also search for specific affiliate programs that suit your needs.
  3. Trendy products that are in demand. Great way to let product buzz and word of mouth help your cause. The Google Trends tool will show you the current trends of your product ideas based on total search volumes. This can be a great way to determine what’s currently popular.
  4. Start your own business. Get creative and bring your ideas online with a website or product page selling your creations, products or services. Accepting payments is easy these days with services like PayPal and all you need to do is promote your website using email marketing.
  5. Freelance writing services, or create a blog. Writing can be an interesting and rewarding way to make money online. You can publish and sell eBooks, blog posts can generate revenue from ads or affiliate links, sponsors, or you can write about your current products for sale.

When sending email in large volumes always be sure you choose a true high volume, web-based email marketing software that can grow with your ongoing success.

Aquarius Monthly Horoscope for November 2010

Published

on

By

It looks like being a fairly busy month. There’ll be things that need doing, and you’ll want to keep delays to an absolute minimum. At the same time, you’ll be thinking about your status – even though that’s not a very Aquarian thing to be doing. But really, it’s quite reasonable. You’ve got something to offer, and you want appreciation as well as reward.

This all starts coming together at the time of the New Moon, on November 5 or 6. It’s a New Moon which takes place in Scorpio, and in the Aquarius horoscope the sign Scorpio has a particular relationship to your career.

You’ll begin to think very hard about your overall direction in life, and if in the recent past you haven’t been successful enough, you’ll want to make up for lost time.

I’m confident that your efforts will be fruitful, though there’s no need to be in a hurry. Think quietly about what needs to be done, and then set yourself manageable goals. That way by the Full Moon, on November 21, you’ll be on the right track.

Moving to your love life, and most Aquarians aren’t going to be in a particularly romantic mood – there’ll be other things going on, that will seem more important. However if you want love, you’ve got a good chance of finding it. You just need to have a high profile social life, and you must make sure that you’re seen and heard in all the right places. In this light, your career and your love life might be intimately connected.

If you’re already in a relationship, then like you, partners might seem distracted. They might, for example, be putting their career first, and this is something you need to accept. And if you think you’re being ignored, don’t worry. You can’t be the centre of attention all the time!

You’re probably at your most powerful in the mid to late month, when both Mercury and Mars make favourable aspects to Saturn, your ruling planet. You’ll be strong and also intelligent, and your friends and colleagues will realise that you’re someone who means business. And if there’s something you want, you just have to ask.

As November draws to a close your social life starts picking up, and you’ll be invited to a couple of very interesting parties. You’ll meet some fun people, who in the near future could have a big influence on you. It’ll be a time for listening rather than judgement.

Pet Supplement Marketing: How to Stand Out From the Crowd

Published

on

By

Pet owners are a big audience. According to Grandview Research, the global pet supplements market was estimated at USD 637.6 million in 2019. And it’s expected to grow at a CAGR of 7% from 2020 to 2027.

I’ll explain what this strategy is in a moment. Before I do that, let me tell you how it worked on one particular pet owner – me.

GETTING ATTENTION

One day not too long ago my little terrier mix, Dixie, didn’t feel like welcoming the new morning with her usual excitement.

No tail wagging.

No smiling (yes, dogs do smile!).

None of her regular enthusiasm for life.

None of the “I love you” yawning I came to expect right after waking up.

And she wouldn’t look directly into my face – no “hugging with her eyes” that dog lovers know so well.

Our vet, bless her heart, immediately diagnosed Dixie’s lethargy as a symptom of pancreatitis.

Astute sleuthing on the vet’s part pinpointed the cause as a nutritional deficiency. Dixie just wasn’t getting enough nourishment.

That’s when I went into high gear looking for solutions. Google search results led me to forums and blogs where other dog owners shared similar experiences.

The love and care these people showed for their furry friends really got my attention. It made their stories come to life in my mind.

It’s as if I was having one-on-one conversations with them.

I felt like I was included in a special inner circle with other like-minded ‘pet people’.

The bonus was health advice for Dixie that worked. Now she gets a multivitamin mix in her breakfast dish every day. She also gets a special anti-nausea supplement whenever her symptoms reappear.

And her food and treats have been upgraded to ‘premium’ status.

Dixie’s poor nutrition had been a real threat to her well-being. The education I got from other caring dog owners probably saved her in spite of my ignorance.

Dixie is happy and healthy once again. Months later, she shows no signs of the near tragedy that almost derailed her life.

Because of this experience I’ve made it my mission to spread the word about what I learned and what I did to make sure it never happens again – to Dixie or to any other pooch.

A TEACHABLE MOMENT

This happy outcome occurred because of input from people I came to trust.

What I experienced is what educators call a teachable moment.

It turned out to be a double-whammy for me.

First, I learned how to help Dixie.

In addition, I also learned how powerful that one marketing principle is that I mentioned at the beginning of this article.

The term for this principle, as cited by the Grandview Research survey mentioned above, is “humanization.”

People humanize their pets. I know I do.

In fact, the term comes up multiple times in the Grandview Research survey.

It was also cited in a recent article in Nutraceuticals World as a driving force behind pet supplement sales during the pandemic.

MARKETING FOR PETS AS FAMILY

Using emotions to guide sales is as age-old as marketing itself. Yet this can be taken to the next level when we’re talking about pets.

Implementing the following three strategies will do exactly that when done right. Every step entails acknowledging pets as family.

1) Use the extra advantage of social media.

People love to see posts and pictures on social media related to pets. Nothing humanizes pets better than heartwarming or humorous photos and videos.

2) Partner with a pet charity.

According to the digital marketing company, Optimum 7, 63% of shoppers are more likely to buy from businesses that support social causes.

Pet welfare and adoption agencies are right at the top of the list.

3) Implement consumer-based marketing.

My story about Dixie is just one example of how other pet lovers spoke about specific brands of pet supplements.

Incorporating this strategy is a matter of providing the opportunity for consumers to talk about and show off their beloved pets.

Comments on blog posts, social media articles, and forums offer plenty of opportunity for consumers to add ‘pet power’ to your marketing plan.

Finally, note that marketing for pet products shouldn’t be the same as for any other type of product. A cookie-cutter marketing plan won’t get the job done.

Really standing out from the crowd means incorporating pet humanization into your marketing plan.

That’s the thread running through all three of these strategies.

A FINAL SUGGESTION

Here’s where I would normally sing my own praises as a copywriter in the alternative health niche. It’s one way I attract new clients.

Rather than do that now, I’ll instead qualify myself for ‘pet marketing duty’ based on my lifelong love of dogs and cats.

I do, indeed, humanize my pets.

And just like other pet owners, I’m subject to persuasion marketing that accounts for that.

It’s the icing on the cake of my professional experience and qualifications.

In lieu of loading you down with my huzzahs, I’ll simply suggest we have a conversation about… well, our pets.

One of the perks of having pets in the family is being able to brag about them to others. So I’m encouraging you to brag about yours to me. (I might even do the same! ALERT: I might also want to also talk about another terrier mix, Ellie, and an orange tabby, Dilly. They’re all just so lovable!)

If during our chat we discover how I can help you with your pet supplement marketing, then so much the better.

I’m game if you’re game. Just give me a call or shoot me an email.

Let’s get the (pet) ball rolling today!

Your App Is Failing to Convert? 5 Tricks to Raise Conversions

Published

on

By

Mobile apps are playing the role of a marketer for businesses overtaking all other methods of promotions and advertising. However, not all apps prove to be a great tool in marketing a business’s products or services. Apps that are just good to look at or have great features may not be successful at converting users because of complex UI or navigation. So, the prime focus of a mobile app development must be on conversions rather than just making it beautiful and innovative.

There are many ways to raise the app’s user acquisition rate and ensure its conversions. Here are discussed some of the most effective ones for you.

Make onboarding experience smoother

User experience (UX) determines the fate of an app, especially at the onboarding. It is the first point of interaction with the users and hence can leave an everlasting impression on their mind. Thus, make it as simple as possible by providing lesser users actions. Make registration/login quick and hassle-free, sparing users from putting too much personal information. Use graphical illustrations and gestures instead of long, boring textual to instruct them on the use of the app’s features.

Optimise the app’s loading speed

Users mostly stay away from apps that take more time to load, causing a delay in what they want to achieve. Work towards optimising the speed of your app while it undergoes development. If you can conquer the users’ interests in the first instance with its speed, there are big chances of optimising conversions.

Push notifications with personalised offers

After analysing your users’ behaviour on the app in their first few active sessions, strategise to send push notifications to them. Push notifications are effective at converting users when they are relevant to their interests or preferences. It gives a clue to the users that you’ve got something just for them. Personal offerings make them feel cared and so can convince them better to make a purchase or avail your service.

Encourage users with bonus or rewards points

Users like appreciation! Give them little surprises as they complete a task or check out an order with bonus points or rewards. Encourage them to accumulate more of such points or rewards which will bag a big offer later. While it’s a great way to encourage user engagement consistently, user abandonment will decrease significantly. Users will always have a reason to come back and make some purchase/order request.

Include social media integrations

Popular social media platforms like Facebook or Twitter have a mass user base and so integrating your app with them can get you a lot of users through referrals. The trick here is to utilise the eWOM (electronic word of mouth). Your need to persuade the current users with referral rewards to spread the word about your app’s benefits using their social media accounts. Customers are your biggest advertisers and so any positive feedback will surely convince others to use your app and realise its benefits.

Get users influenced enough so that they not only stay but actively go through the conversion funnel, i.e. reach the final checkout out or interaction point in the app. The aforementioned tips explain altogether how to make your app’s journey smooth from the start, persuade users with personalised features or offers, and keep them absorbed throughout. If you have an app idea in mind and want it to experience maximum conversions, get these tricks in mind and ask your developers accordingly.

Innovative Business Shares Tips

Published

on

By

Many of our loyal readers out there are already aware that Dave and I relish celebrating conscious and proactive entrepreneurs who are working to make a difference in the world while providing their services. Today I am thrilled to highlight a local Kootenay-based business with this wonderful discussion below.

We first met Narae Kang, owner of Kimchi Kitchen, when we spotted a post on social media where she was offering a fantastic opportunity for other local businesses – a free (10×6) vinyl decal displayed on their mobile kitchen unit. A little something for their customers to browse while waiting for their meal.

Coming from a marketer’s angle – I saw their selfless, non-promotional post as a great way to reach out to the community. Dave and I, for instance had heard of the truck but had not been customers yet – once we purchased a meal there however, we are definitely customers now. So are dozens of others who saw the post, they were so impressed that they responded saying they were coming down to purchase from the truck soon and calling out to others to support such a selfless business. So while Kimchi Kitchen’s intent wasn’t coming from a marketing angle at all… the result was that they gained popularity, attained increased exposure to a highly targeted market and they created a very strong networking system with dozens of other local businesses, including ourselves.

When Dave dropped off our ad decals, he also ordered the Sweet Chilli Chicken (see the image), which was delicious and so generous of a helping that Dave and I were fed for 3 separate meals – each! As you can see in the images, this dish came with these large, yellow pickled vegetables that had Dave and I guessing what they were. I was thinking perhaps Kholrabi or chestnut, using a tumeric based pickling brine. Dave guessed correctly – it was “… a Korean pickled Daikon (radish)”, Narae explained. “I use gardenia powder to make it yellow”.

I asked Narae to tell us a little about herself and this is what she had to say: “I was born in South Korea, moved to Canada after getting married to this amazing man in Calgary. It was our goal to move to Kootenay Region (BC, Canada) ever since we got married. Thanks to my husband’s carpentry skill and my enthusiasm for Korean food, we opened Kimchi Kitchen in May 2019.”

As an eco-conscious customer, I noticed the compostable take-out packaging right away and I became curious as to its composition. Narae explained that the entire food truck and street food industry is changing: “The clamshell containers are made out of sugarcane. Yes, they are expensive. But what’s amazing is, I am not the only one who uses these types of containers. Most of the food trucks that I know of also choose environment friendly packaging”.

As it turns out, there is a very practical reason for choosing these options. “Initially, my main goal was to go to the festivals and events in the Kootenay Region – like the Kaslo Jazz Festival or Starbelly Jam. Most festivals have zero waste policy, and I admire their efforts to save our environment. I wanted to join their movement. Although all those major events are cancelled due to COVID – I use wood forks and chopsticks instead of plastic ones.”

The couple’s dedication to the environment is admirable. “I have fully electric car; traded it with my truck last year. I am 1000% satisfied with my choice, and encourage people to go electric. It has tons of benefits. I also have 16 hens and a rooster. They take care of our kitchen scraps and give me gorgeous, healthy eggs in return. The rest goes to my compost bin. The chicken manure is given to neighbours who have a garden and they share some vegetables with me.”

This couple had many reasons for choosing the hard life of being an entrepreneur. “Two main reasons” she explains, “One was the child I support. When I just moved here I couldn’t find a full time job. Everything available at the time was seasonal, minimum wage or the work was too far. I support a child in Honduras through World Vision. Maria – a girl’s name I wanted to give if I ever had a daughter. I tried but I couldn’t support her anymore without an income in the winter. That’s when I decided to open a food truck. The first year, my goal was to support her year around. The second year, my goal is to send her chickens as a Christmas gift (and I am working on it). Second reason is the movie ‘The Chef’ – based on the true story of a ‘Kogi’ food truck in California. Roy Choi is now a famous Korean-American chef, who became my role model.”

Being an entrepreneur in such times (when events are limited and constrained budgets keep customers at home) Kimchi Kitchen has learned to adapt, finding alternative ways to overcoming a variety of challenges. “The first year I opened, surprisingly people had quite a good knowledge about Korean food. Living in a town where it has very little Korean population, that was something to think about. Why don’t we have a good Korean restaurant here? I introduced those classic dishes that people are well aware of – Korean chicken, Bibimbap, Bulgogi, Kimchi, etc, which was a hit. Since I introduced those foods in town however, other pubs and restaurants started a similar menu with the same name. So I had to come up with something else. To stand out I introduced trendy Korean street food – like the vegetarian dumplings with gochujang sauce. Leaving one signature item: the Sweet Chilli Chicken… Constantly changing up the menu catches people’s attention; the special changes every week. Like the Galbi burger from last year – People keep hounding me to make that again… My original goal was to go to the festivals and events mainly. Since these events are not happening right now, I parked my food trailer at one location and open to serve either lunch or dinner Wednesday – Sunday. As I have to travel 2h (round trip) from my home to Creston, I can’t serve both lunch and dinner while looking after a bunch of animals in my house.”

Kimchi Kitchen mainly uses social media for sharing the truck’s schedule, expected location for particular dates and any special menu changes. Since over 90% of their customers are locals they find that word-of-mouth has been their best promotional tool yet. According to Narae, “I move around along the Kootenay area – find me through Facebook or Instagram – @kimchikitchenbc… People ask me to come to certain places”, she goes on to say. “Last year we have been to Kuskonook Harbour, Crawford Bay, Creston and Boswell along the lake. Some restaurant owners didn’t welcome us. Some were very kind. Regardless, at all of these places we had great fun… But it is also very tiring to move around frequently. Now I am staying in one spot as long as possible. Before their grand opening this year, Wildnorth Brewery wanted us to be there for the celebrations. As of July 1st, we will be parked there”.

Time management is always a challenge for the self-employed and I asked Narae to share some tips they have learned along the way. “We’ve learned to simplify the process; use similar ingredients, but differentiate just a few key ingredients for menu items. You learn to prioritize what has to be done first… You face a hundred different situations everyday. It can be that the generator fails or something to do with customer service… or you get injured from hot oil. Hot weather is one of the biggest challenges, as well as cooking under pressure when there are 10 people watching me to make their food quick. There are too many to mention here… But I can definitely tell you that racism isn’t part of challenge. As an Asian woman, never once have I faced racism running my business. Rather, people have my back and tell me all the kind words in the world. They worry about me when they don’t even have to. The great support I get in Creston and the Kootenay area is something I really want to shout out! And you know, that made me want to pay-it-forward in gratitude for the great support I have received. That is why I put up the post on social media re: the free advertising decal on my food truck.”

Networking is a huge part of running a business and so I asked Narae her opinion on this. “When people come for my food I try to make conversation to get to know them better, especially for regular customers. I ask their name and remember it.” She responded. “Remembering small details of their needs (some like more pickle, some want more spiciness, etc). Getting to know other business owners is also a big plus. I’ve had lots of inquiries from curious customers. Some asked if I want to sell my business, some asked questions about running a food truck. Many people are interested in opening a food truck of their own. Published

By

Criminal charges are a serious matter for everyone. If you are an accused, make sure you hire the services of a good criminal lawyer for your legal representation. In this article, we have shared a few tips that will make the hiring process easier for you. Read on to find out more.

1. Experience

There are different types of lawyers, and each one specializes in their own field of interest. Therefore, you should look for a professional that specializes in the field of criminal law. This is an important thing to consider when looking for the best legal counsel.

These attorneys are familiar with laws related to different types of crimes. So, they can defend you much better.

2. Success Rate

Make sure that the lawyer enjoys a high rate of success. This is important as a high success rate is representative of the competitiveness of the professional. After all, you want them to drop the charges that were filed against you.

If they lost most of their cases, we suggest that you look for a better professional. After all, you want to get out of trouble as soon as possible.

3. Availability

Make sure the lawyer is not too busy to take your case. If they are not available, they may recommend another good lawyer to you since they have several colleagues. Keep in mind that you don’t have to follow their recommendation.

If they are not available, make sure you do your research to ensure that the recommended lawyer is capable enough to handle your case.

4. Confidence

During your first consultation, consider the demeanor of the lawyer. They should be confident enough to compete against the other party. This is reflective of the knowledge and commitment of the lawyer.

Good professionals are not arrogant. They listen to their clients without interrupting them. Plus, they answer all your questions until you are convinced.

5. Communication Skills

Communication between you and the criminal lawyer matters a lot. The goal is to make sure that you and the professional are on the same page. Good communicators listen to others and give honest and straightforward replies.

Besides, they use different means of communication, such as phone and email. This way you can exchange important messages related to the case.

6. Fee Structure

Of course, the criminal lawyers charge for their legal services. Typically, they charge a retainer fee upfront. You should ask if they require monthly payments. If you ask these questions before hiring them, it will help you set a budget accordingly.

In short, these are just some of the simple tips that may want to follow if you are going to hire a criminal lawyer.

House Insurance Offers: Tips on Getting Better Quotes and Discounts

Published

on

By

It might take some time for you to do some research, but you really do want to be careful when evaluating house insurance offers. How do you know which company is right for you? What about the policy? Does it include everything you need? Is it right for your home and property? What about the contents of your home? All of these questions must be answered before you sign any contracts.

Always check the financial stability of any company you are considering and consult consumer sites to read reviews and ratings. Also, keep in mind that you might not necessarily need the traditional insurance type. There are newer, modern solutions such as “peer to peer models”. This is an ideal system for those who have trouble getting affordable insurance the traditional way.

Regardless of which type of system you go for, it is essential that you know the value of your property and contents. If the current market value of your home really isn’t very much, how much would it take to make repairs if it’s damaged in a fire or flood? How much would it be to completely build a new home? Like any other type of insurance, you should consider premiums VS deductibles when it comes to house insurance offers.

One way to get a discount and save money on your payments is to make your home as disaster-resistant as possible. For instance, you might be able to save on premiums by purchasing stronger roofing materials, reinforcing your roof, adding storm shutters, investing in sprinklers, modernizing your plumbing and heating, etc.

Item List for House Insurance Offers

Make a list of the personal, valuable items you want to insure. Don’t automatically assume that they will be included under general coverage. Personal property hat people tend to want coverage for in insurance policies include expensive collections, jewelry, art, furs, electronics, and so forth. Even if personal property is included in the homeowners insurance rate, it might not be enough, and there might be exceptions. Some people choose to buy extra protection for specific items of high-value.

If you already have home insurance and are thinking about looking for something more affordable, one thing you’ll want to do is review your current dwelling coverage to ensure that it is not below 80% of the full replacement cost of the home. If it is, then your current company might reduce the amount that it will pay you should you file a claim. Keep this in mind when you are looking for a new, better deal, or take the steps necessary to improve the value of the dwelling.

Now that you have a better understanding of the basics of home / property insurance and how house insurance offers work, it’s time to start doing research. One company that is currently becoming very popular is Lemonade. It offers a unique peer-to-peer type of solution and pays out claims VERY quickly. See if it is available in your state, and if so, see if you qualify for a Lemonade Insurance discount.
