How To Protect Your Skin During Psoriatic Arthritis?

Published

on

With psoriatic arthritis, your skin needs an extra protection. The condition affects people in different ways and affects the skin differently. Lifestyle changes will greatly favor your skin. Some unhealthy habits can worsen the skin situation. In addition to the prescribed medications, your doctor will also guide you through habits than can worsen the skin symptoms.

You can improve the skin symptoms at home by doing the following:

1. Take plenty of water

Plenty of water helps your skin to be in good condition by hydrating from inside. Psoriatic arthritis make the skin to have high tendency of dryness. This can lead to itching and flaking. Water will serve to keep your skin moisturized. You can monitor whether you are dehydrated by observing the tone of your urine. The yellow tone suggests that you have not taken enough water. Make it at least eight glasses each day.

2. Avoid any trauma on the skin

The trauma on the skin can be from sharp objects, burns and even insect bites. It can worsen the psoriasis symptoms on the skin. You should always consider putting on the protective clothing when performing tasks. At the kitchen, your gloves should be on. Avoid walking barefoot as this could result in injuries from stepping on sharp objects. Mosquito bites can cause irritation on the skin, avoid them by being in the house when they are active mostly at dusk. You can also manage the insects by wearing some medicated repellant.

3. Manage stress

Stress is not good for your general health. With psoriasis, stress can complicate the situation. Find time to do what you like. Join fun groups, do it with friends and take some time off to relax. Yoga is a great exercise involving both your mind and the physical to get you relaxed. Ensure you get enough sleep. Staying up late can bring in stress.

4. Phototherapy

This is good at managing the skin overgrowth. It uses the UV light from the sun. You can try it at home by scheduling for some time under the sun. You can start with at least 4 minutes as you increase the time each day. Remember to wear your sunscreen, it should be of SPF at least 30 to curb the harmful rays that can cause cancer and sunburns.

5. Use your moisturizer

Apparently with the itchiness, scaling and dryness, moisturizing is the best thing that can be done to the skin. Moisturizing your skin adds an extra protective layer. The moisturizer will soothe your skin relieving dryness and itching. Your moisturizer should be free of any fragrance.

6. Take your prescribed topical medications

Apart from your daily medications your physician will prescribe some other treatments which you can get at your nearest chemist. It can be an extract of coal, tar. Tar is good at enhancing your skin complexion. Tar also works to ensure that you skin cells do not overgrow and acts to ease inflammations.

You can also get recommendation for shampoo which is medicated. They contain antifungal and steroid for easing the psoriatic arthritis of the scalp. The doctor might also prescribe hydrocortisone contained in an ointment to manage skin lesions and ease the itching.

7. Treat your skin with salt shower

Salt water has been used over the years as a remedy for skin lesions. You should try it also. This will involve adding your table salt or Dead Sea salt to your tub. The tub should have lukewarm water. You can then enjoy the bath by soaking yourself for 20 minutes.

8. Be gentle on the skin

This applies when taking a shower. Ensure to avoid long and hot showers. It can strip your skin of its essential oils which are highly needed resulting to dryness. Avoid liquid and harsh soaps they have high tendency of drying the skin. Switch to lukewarm and short showers with a mild soap. After shower gently pat your towel to slightly dry the skin then apply your moisturizer immediately.

9. Make some lifestyle changes

Some unhealthy habits may worsen the skin symptoms. You should resort to make some healthy changes for the good of your health. This includes taking a healthy diet. Foods like vegetables, fruits, whole grains and lean proteins can greatly help in improving your skin condition. This is not only directly, but they can also avoid excessive weight gain which could worsen the situation. Do more of exercises that will greatly improve your condition and also help you maintain an ideal weight. Try to limit or do away with the smoking and alcohol, this can be detrimental for your situation.

Conclusion

Do not deny yourself of a healthy skin, make some efforts to protect it for a brilliant smooth complexion. Irrespective of whether you have psoriatic arthritis or not, you can still have your skin at its best.

Days Gone By – Adapting to a New Reality in Health and Wellness

Success: A Challenge to Change.

Western medicine systems based around hospitals, highly trained professionals and high-tech equipment with little role for patients and care-givers has been remarkably successful. Indeed, science and technology are continuing to revolutionize healthcare: who would argue many infectious diseases have been controlled, maternal health (mother/newborn mortality) improved and that vaccine development has curtailed large-scale viral epidemic.

However, as our populations grow older and they suffer more from long-term conditions such as diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer treatment/care and coronary disease — they can’t simply be treated with a system of diagnosis and control set up to fight the diseases of a half century ago.

The basic problem in all wealthy countries is diseases have changed but health services haven’t really. The health problems of the early 21st century are not the same as those of the middle of the 20th century — when current western healthcare systems were formed.

They require services in the home and community as well as in the hospital and, critically, the involvement of patients and care-givers.

Larger Effect on Disease than Smoking

As reported in 2010, an analysis (of the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System data from1993 to 2008 of 3.5 million adults) by researchers at Columbia University and The City College of New York showed that obesity now had a larger effect on disease, while smoking had a greater impact on deaths. Why? The number of adult smokers decreased 18.5 percent over that time, while the proportion of obese Americans increased 85 percent.

Findings like these now account for an increasing majority of illness and healthcare costs in richer countries.

Of course, as witnesses by highly publicized healthcare reform last year, changes are trying to be made. Yet, reimbursement systems reinforce the old model, institutions and professional training are largely constructed around it, commercial interests promote it and the public see hospitals as the bedrock of healthcare.

Dread Cost of the Clinic; Fear Change Even More

As we’ve seen most challenging of all are questions about resources. What should someone do if they can’t afford the system but fear approaching (generally) more affordable alternative or complementary medicinal techniques?

The answer appears to lay in grassroots wellness training of health workers and introducing technology that is “translatable in education and practice” to the mainstream. Today many emerging health professionals are very interested in global health and eager to experience and learn from cultures and countries unconstrained by our healthcare history.

Competence, Professionalism and Cooperation in Holistic Healthcare

For example a small but vibrant educational institution in the Pacific Northwest of the USA is training people differently, creating new sorts of viewpoints, engaging families and communities and concentrating more on promoting health rather than on just tackling disease. The American College of Healthcare Sciences (ACHS) fosters competence, professionalism and cooperation in holistic healthcare. Graduates build a holistic foundation for personal health care and rely on finding ways to use, preserve and share knowledge in natural medicine to provide for patients. ACHS students are gaining the all-round expertise that will help them to become the health professionals we need for the 21st century.

And governments can do much more to support efforts such as these, just as the US Department of State relies on a “3-D” philosophy to advance their mission: defense, diplomacy and development. Governments can promote the exchange of ideas and people and help health and wellness workers from richer countries to work in poorer countries. In doing so they will learn for themselves the subtitles of cultural and social health practice and, at the same time, help to repay a debt for the many professionals who have migrated to richer countries. As the Department of Defense has shown it can be a win-win situation from which we will all gain. Security can beget peace which can lead to even greater sustainable development.

As Lord Nigel Crisp, former chief executive of the NHS and Secretary of the Department of Health in England notes in his new book Turning the World Upside Down: The Search for Global Health in the 21st Century: “when old methods no longer work, are we willing to look outside the mainstream for new ideas? Or are we content to stick with professional structures and working arrangements created 50 years ago?”

10 Healthy Snacks For Weight Loss and Wellness

Published

on

By

Contrary to popular belief, snacking is actually very beneficial. It helps to refuel your body, maintain blood sugar and energy levels and control your appetite.

Healthy snacking will help your body get the nutrients it needs and help you avoid overeating at meal times.

Indulge in these guilt-free snacks. Remember we encourage an anti-inflammatory, low-glycemic, paleo-style diet for weight loss and wellness. A body must get healthy before it can lose weight.

1. Fruit and Yogurt Parfait.Organic plain yogurt is best. Yogurts with added flavors are higher in sugar. Instead, flavor your yogurt with fruit. Blueberries are an excellent choice as they have a lower glycemic content that will help balance blood glucose and insulin levels.

2. Romaine Lettuce Wrap With Organic Turkey and a Slice of Raw-Milk or Skim Mozzarella Cheese.

Romaine lettuce contains the highest nutritional and fiber content of all lettuce. Turkey is 94% protein which helps you to lose weight by boosting your metabolism and decreasing hunger. Adding raw milk grass-fed cheese not only adds flavor but also adds calcium without any harmful hormones or preservatives. A great source for grass-fed wild meat, game and poultry is at U.S. Wellness Meats.

3. Veggie Sticks With Cottage Cheese Dip. Non-starchy vegetables contain almost eight times the amount of fiber found in whole grains. Fiber is essential for a healthy digestive system. Fat-free organic cottage cheese makes an excellent low calorie snack.

4. Shrimp Cocktail Shrimp is 90% protein. Try dipping it in some cocktail sauce for a low calorie, high protein snack.

5. A Handful of Nuts. Walnuts are the best choice as they’re rich in protein and fiber but they also contain a high dose of omega 3 fatty acids (good fats) as compared to other nuts. Healthy fats help lower your risk of disease. Omega-3s are anti-inflammatory, meaning they help prevent inflammatory diseases such as stroke or heart disease. People who are overweight are actually suffering from an inflammatory condition.

6. Celery Sticks and Almond Butter. This is a great combination of protein, monounsaturated fat and energy. Almond butter is a healthier alternative to peanut butter as it contains no added ingredients or preservatives and better fats. (peanuts are a legume not a nut)

7. Deviled Eggs. Eggs are very high in protein which makes them a great snack. My Guacamole Deviled Eggs are a great high-protein healthy snack with good fats.

8. Herring Wraps. Buy a few tinned containers in a few different flavored sauces such as tomato or tangy mustard, herring fillets are high in omega 3 fish oils. Don’t but if they are in soybean oil. Try wrapping them in a few leaves of romaine lettuce.

9. Banana Nut Pop. Dip a banana in plain organic yogurt and roll in walnuts or coconut. Freeze. Yummy!

Bananas are a great source of fiber and potassium. They do have a high sugar content so eat in moderation. Coconuts have anti-microbial, anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties and are one of the best sources in the world for MCFA (medium-chain triglyceride fatty acids)

10. Lemon Tuna Avocado Snack. Halve an avocado and scoop out the flesh. Mix with lemon juice and tuna. Serve in the shells. Good protein, good fat.

Avocado’s are high in monounsaturated fat and potassium. Tuna is a great source of protein, omega-3 fatty acid and is very nutrient-dense. Protein builds muscle which in turn burns more calories to help you lose weight.

And here’s your BONUS snack idea….

***Smoked salmon.

Don’t get salmon that’s been smothered in brown sugar. Salmon is one of the best sources of protein and healthy fats on earth. Always try to buy wild-caught and not farmed raised (fed grains).

Fingernail condition has been used for thousands of years to accurately diagnose ailments and maladies in the body. Chinese physicians mastered this practice.

Fingernail changes may signify a number of disorders elsewhere in the body. These changes may indicate illness even before the rest of the body shows any signs. Although I will discuss later in this article what nutrients may help with actual nail problems you should always seek professional help if any of the below changes are observed on the nail.

o Thick nails may indicate a vascular problem.

o Ridges running lengthwise may indicate a kidney disorders.

o White moon area turning red may indicate heart problems. If it turns dark blue then lung problems may exist.

o Brittle nails may indicate possible iron deficiency.

o Yellow nails may indicate internal disorders.

o White nails may indicate possible liver or kidney disorders.

o Nail beading may be a sign of rheumatoid arthritis.

o Nails that chip, peel, crack, or break easily show a nutritional deficiency.

o Brittle, soft, shiny nails with no moon may indicate an overactive thyroid.

o Nails separated form the nail bed may indicate a thyroid problem.

o White lines across the nail may indicate a liver disease.

o Red, inflamed looking skin at the bottom of the nail may indicate a connective tissue disorder.

o Ridges across the nail may be a sign of the flu.

o Nails curving downward at the ends may indicate heart, liver, or respiratory problems.

o White lines show possible heart disease, or arsenic poisoning.

o Unusually wide, square nails can suggest a hormonal disorder.

These are a sampling of nails conditions that may point to serious health problems. These are not intended to serve a diagnostic tool. If in doubt seek the diagnosis of a physician.

Don’t wait if you suspect a problem. Seek help. Also consider looking at your eating habits, environment, and general well-being. Consider taking extra vitamin supplementation to balance out your system.

Swimming and Skin Care – Repairing the Skin Barrier

Published

on

By

Often pool swimmers complain of water related skin problems. Chlorine has a caustic effect, causing a disruption to the Stratum Corneum (the outermost layer of the epidermis) the skin’s barrier. This skin barrier, was coined by Dr. Peter M. Elias of the University of California, San Francisco, an expert on skin barrier and epidermal biology.

The Stratum Corneum functions to form a barrier to protect underlying tissue from infection, dehydration, chemicals and mechanical stress. This skin level consists of dead cells (corneocytes) composed of 15-20 layers of flattened cells with no nuclei and cell organelles. These corneocytes are embedded in a lipid matrix composed of ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids.

This barrier is produced through a process called desquamation, cells shedding from the surface of the stratum corneum, and balancing proliferating keratinocytes (cells that produce keratin, a beneficial protein for the body). Then these cells migrate through the epidermis towards the surface in a journey that takes approximately fourteen days.

In other words, we are born with a healthy skin barrier that is capable of naturally keeping skin moist, and hydrated. Unfortunately, over time that layer of skin gets damaged from things like cold weather, excessive sun exposure, prolonged water submersion, wind conditions and other environmental factors. These causes break down the components of this layer of our skin and leave it without protection, susceptible to pruning, wrinkly skin, inflammation, bacteria, dryness, itchiness and allergens – damage.

Can Drinking Water Help to Hydrate Skin?

We are made of water (the average adult human body is 50-65% water). Copious quantities of water from our bodies is excreted daily. Therefore, the drinking of water is important because it replaces our supply. According to the FDA, we are to drink 8-10 glasses of water a day to maintain what we lose. The myth is that by doing so our skin is then adequately hydrated. For skin purposes, unfortunately, the consumption of water doesn’t help all that much. In fact, the water we drink has a lot to do before it even gets to the skin. Think of the long and winding path water takes in our bodies and you’ll note how many stops it makes to other organs, etc., before it even makes an appearance at the surface of the skin, for example:

1. Ridding the body of toxins,

2. Aiding with our digestive system,

3. Helping our organs function properly, etc.

Therefore, in theory, we need to apply water to the skin topically and somehow hold it there in order to keep skin moist, hydrated and wrinkle free. Moisturizers seek to accomplish this very task.

Moisturizers and the Skin Barrier

Despite what some advertisers tell us, many moisturizers available today do very little to keep moisture in the skin. That is because very few can penetrate the stratum corneum. With that truth, can the skin barrier even be repaired? The good news it that ‘yes’ it can. Because this layer of cells is made up of ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids, it stands to reason that if those elements are depleted causing damaged skin then adding them back to the skin will improve its texture. We accomplish this by putting the missing ingredients of ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids together in proper measurements (formulas) so that they work homogeneously to improve the skin. The mixture is key because just as we initially had them in our bodies, we must replace them similarly.

Which Moisturizers Even Work on the Dermis?

1. Shea Butter – contains fatty acids stearic and palmitic acid

2. Dermalogica Barrier Repair – shea butter, evening primrose oil

3. Zerafite – sold by dermatologists as a barrier repair face cream and body cream. http://lesliebaumannmd.com/dr-baumann-recommends-barrier-repair-moisturizers-heres/

4. CeraVe Moisturizing Cream 16 oz Daily Face and Body Moisturizer for Dry Skin – formulated technology allows ceramides to penetrate the skin

5. Water – douse your skin in fresh water before swimming

What About Working from the Inside Out?

1. Supplements – such as borage seed, fish oil or evening primrose oil

2. Hyaluronic acid – despite some claims, many dermatologists profess that it cannot enter the dermis when applied topically https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4110621/

3. Water – drinking 8-10 glasses a day does improve the skin’s quality, but it takes time to reach the skin, as previously mentioned

Conclusion

Swimmers have special needs that pertain to moisturizing and protecting of our skin. Addressing these needs in logical, well-informed and consistent ways can allow swimmers to enjoy the water for a lifetime. The information above does not cover all that there is known on this subject. There are tons of more products and procedures that have been proven to work on a swimmer’s skin. This post is an overview, generally giving insight on how swimmers should approach their skin care needs.

Try the moisturizers and supplements above after speaking to your dermatologists and doctors to see if they are right for you. If they are not, hopefully the information above will lead you to the correct combination of internal and external remedies designed for your needs.

As swimmers, we have to design and implement a routine to protect our skin. Doing nothing can only help to erode our skin barrier over time.

If this post has been helpful to you, please leave a comment below.

Thank you and Go Swim!

App Review: I Can’t Wake Up! Alarm Clock for Android

Published

on

By

Waking up is a huge problem for me. There have been mornings where I have hit snooze in excess of 20 times before finally uttering a swear word, stretching, and forcing myself to get up. I am the kind of person who wakes up hours after they intended to, unless there is some motivation for me to get up.

The app I am about to describe eliminates that. As a result, I kind of hate it, but only because I love it so very much.

Miklos suggested the I Can’t Wake Up! Alarm Clock app to me before bed the other night. Having to scan a barcode in order to shut the alarm off? Excellent concept. I hopped onto Google Play and downloaded it free to my Android phone. (There is a paid version, but I think the only difference is that it doesn’t run ads. Don’t quote me.) Well, it definitely didn’t shut off the first morning. I had selected Memory and Barcode as wake-up methods. Memory did a good enough job of making me want to stab my eyes out while the alarm rang. I had however not realized I’d have to install the barcode scanner separately (Menu > W.U.M Preferences > Barcode Method > Method config info), and, of course, choose which barcodes to scan.

… Listen, I was tired when I downloaded the app.

After shutting off my phone to silence the infernal, seemingly endless racket it was making (proclaiming that the barcode scanner was not installed and simultaneously demanding I scan a barcode), I fell back asleep.

I was skeptical. Of course, I had not given I Can’t Wake Up! a fair shot.

The next night, I configured the Barcode method, scanned my barcodes and added the Pairs method. Now my wake-up program was a fail-safe random ordered Memory/Barcode/Pairs combination. I would have to solve all three. Surely I’d be awake by then.

The alarm went off as it should. And I was disappointed that it chose Barcode first. I had to leap out of bed and scan my face-wash. Disgruntled, I zombied myself back into the bedroom solving the Memory puzzle and then choosing Pairs (in this case, choosing one of two city names to match with the country it belonged to). The alarm is a bit less effective when you crawl into bed because your house is cold and begin to text someone who loses interest after 20 minutes. I fell back asleep for 2.5 hours. Crap. It has an Awake test ensure you actually woke up. Perhaps I should select this option for tomorrow morning, yes?

Let me say, I Can’t Wake Up! Alarm Clock is good. It’s very customizable with lots of interesting options and it really does get you out of bed. The ringing is annoying enough and doesn’t stop until you’ve completed your chosen tasks. Ensure you have a warm house to wake up to, or at least some slippers and a robe on to ensure coziness when you get out of bed, and you’re golden.

The only star I take away from this app is half because it installed some other program I had to delete right away (hopefully it actually deleted), and half because the app doesn’t physically grow hands out of the phone to slap my face around until I’m awake. I guess that’s my own issue, though.

By

Do you live with unsightly, extremely discolored YELLOW toenails? And are you absolutely desperate to get rid of them? Please tell me you answered YES to the latter question there. Anyway, I know the pain you’re going through. Having toenail fungus can be extremely embarrassing. Especially if you go on holiday and chill out by the side of the outdoor pool – can’t hide the infections with socks then, can you? No you can’t. So if you want to get rid of your unsightly nail fungus, or you’re fed up of being down right embarrassed by the infection… then read the rest of this article.

Okay, so I’m about to reveal an extremely effective toenail fungus KILLER, that will help banish your infection for good. This fungus killer has been used for centuries to beat off fungus infections. It’s a well known cure, and it’s likely that you’ve heard of it before since it’s super effective at killing a range of infections and skin conditions. The toenail fungus killer that I keep referring to is… tea tree oil. This oil is super effective in banishing fungal infections on the nails. So either buy the solution from a health store and apply it as directed.

OR you can buy a solution that contains tea tree oil and other effective ingredients. For example, sulphur X12 is extremely effective in killing fungus infections. So if you can find a cure that contains both tea tree oil and sulphur X12 then you infection is going to banish within weeks, maybe even days. There are a few products out there that contain both of these strong ingredients, I’m not sure of all of their names but a quick Google search should bring them up. Once you’ve found one, purchase it and apply the solution as directed then within a week or so you should see a MASSIVE improvement.

Perry Ellis – Perfumes and Clothing

Published

on

By

Born in Portsmouth, Virginia to a middle-class family, Perry Edwin Ellis is one of the most successful fashion designers in today’s modern age. He was born on March 3, 1940 and was raised comfortably by his family with the support of their own fuel company. He studied in Williamsburg, Virginia taking up a degree in Business Administration, which he later used in managing his own fashion business.

Perry Ellis’ interest for fashion first came out while he was running his own department store retailing in Virginia. He established that firm to gain experience in the world of fashion simply as a merchandiser and buyer.

In his search for the ultimate experience, he joined the sportswear company owned by John Meyer in New York. The Vera Companies approached him in the 1970s for one purpose – to make designs for the Vera itself. It was only in 1976 when Perry Ellis decided to create his own line of women’s sportswear he called the Portfolio.

Since the introduction of the Portfolio, critics and consumers of fashion products praised Perry Ellis as one of the most outstanding designers of sportswear. Particularly the women love him for one reason – Ellis creates his own designs, each boasting a clean cut casual style. He established his own fashion house with the help of The Vera Companies, and named it Perry Ellis International. His showroom was first opened on Seventh Avenue in New York City.

Months after the release of Ellis’ casual styled sportswear, he came up with a menswear collection which was introduced successfully in the world market. Critics considered this product line as modern classic in appearance and style. This collection was followed by other successful launches; now featuring shoes, furs, accessories, and fragrances.

Perry Ellis International continued to expand throughout the 1980s. A number of labels were then released, including the Perry Ellis Collection and the Perry Ellis Portfolio. In 1984, the company formed a cooperation with Levi Strauss. The Portfolio line was revised one year after, and in 1986 the company saw a rise of about $250 million in their product revenues.

The House of Perry Ellis was transferred to a new management headed by Robert L. McDonald, Ellis’ close friend, in 1986 after Perry’s unexpected death. Marc Jacobs then took the role of Perry Ellis as a fashion designer for the company, who at that time was a fresh graduate. Jacobs started his own labels just in 1993, and it was him who became the head of the House of Louis Vuitton in Paris.

Perry Ellis International has undergone several other changes in the company management. Manhattan Industries was traded to a licensee of Perry Ellis, the Salant. It was from them where a Miami based textile company acquired the Ellis House in 1999. The corporation also acquired several other companies, including the Original Penguin and the Ping collection of the golf brand, both acquired early in the year 2003.

Today, the House of Perry Ellis is continually producing all the fashion products it is known for. Massive expansions are expected to occur with more and more consumers becoming interested to Perry Ellis’ great collections.

How to Treat Impure Skin and Cure Pimples

Published

on

By

Many young people suffer during puberty from pimples, blackheads and impure skin. Over the past few years the number of teenagers that are suffering from acne has doubled and it’s mainly due to bad eating habits, dirt on their skin, hereditary and hormonal imbalances. Therefore not only the predisposition plays a role, but also the external circumstances and personal habits.

Acne is one of the skin diseases that occur most frequently. Like any other disease and they should be treated medically if it has reached a certain level of severity. Here, the rule of thumb is the sooner, the better! A cure for pimples isn’t that easy to find as you may already know conventional medications and lotions will NOT work. So do not wait too long before you consult a dermatologist. Before starting treatment, you should be aware that you will need patients. Short-term or quick results are not feasible, certainly not if they are to last longer. Most treatment takes several months to years, however a natural treatment can work wonders and they’re more recommended.

Due to the different treatment options that exist, and the efficacy that is different for each patient, a doctor should contribute his expert advice. Own tinkering is usually futile and often cause scars. Acne and pimples can be treated internally and externally. How to carry out the treatment usually depends on the severity of acne and on each individual patient.

It is also important that the skin is properly cleaned daily. For this you can use different cleaning products that match the individual skin type. Wash your face regularly with warm water and face wash, and pat it dry with a clean face-towel every time.

Externally are often used peeling agents such as Vitamin A acid or Benzoyl Peroxide. Also increased scaling may occur. This so-called healing crisis and it occurs because the skin is irritated by the new treatment. As a conclusion, conventional lotions and medications are only a short time relief and not a permanent cure.

Simple Opalescence Teeth Whitening System Directions

Published

on

By

Opalescence teeth whitening system comes in kits that are for use at the dentist’s office, for the consumers to use at home, or for use during traveling, and then there is a kit for maintenance. The whitening ingredient in the Opalescence for home uses is carbamide peroxide. It is a lower dosage version of hydrogen peroxide, about 18% of the strength. Consumers can leisurely use the teeth whitener over a period of time, instead of visiting the dentist.

Depending on which Opalescence teeth whitening product that you are getting, you might have to get your teeth trays made at the dentist’s office. Your dentist can take an impression of your teeth, and have trays ordered for you. Custom teeth whitening trays fit your teeth perfectly, and ensure the maximum contact of the Opalescence bleaching gel onto the surfaces of your teeth.

If you are using an Opalescence teeth whitening system for home use, you need to brush your teeth before applying the Opalescence gel onto your teeth. You can use a Rembrandt or a Colgate teeth whitening product for better result. Dry you teeth before the application.

Make sure your teeth trays are clean and dry, apply Opalescence gel onto the bottom and top trays of the front teeth sections. Excessive application of the gel would cause spillage over the edge of the trays, and could cause irritations to the gums. One can use some tissue to clean up the spillage to avoid discomfort. The trays could be worn overnight if one is using a low Opalescence concentration, such as a 10% gel, or a 20% gel. When you’re done, or when your teeth become too sensitive, remove trays, brush and rinse teeth. Wash trays and leave them to dry. Repeat the process daily until the whiten result is achieved.

Opalescence teeth whitening system directions are not that hard. Yet you have to use the trays, and deal with the gel, and clean up the trays. The initial cost of the Opalescence teeth whitening system is affordable, but you have to pay for refills for the continuous maintenance.
