5 Interior Design Tips for Beginners

Published

on

Interior designing requires you to focus on space and architecture planning. This is important if you want to create an aesthetically impressive design for your home or business interiors. Besides, professional interior designers are trained to make the best choices for their interior design projects. If you are ready to go on an adventure in the world of coffee tables and living rooms, we suggest that you follow this simple guide to work on your next interior design project. By following these tips, it will be easier for you to work on your home interior design.

1. Spend Carefully

If you are a beginner in the world of interior design, make sure you take it slow and decide on the items that you really need. First of all, you need to think about the furniture you need, such as beds and couches.

The beauty of these furniture items is that they are heavy and attract the attention of your guests. Therefore, make sure that they look nice. As soon as you have found the best furniture, you can work on your do-it-yourself home decor.

2. Consider the Lighting

Don’t forget about lighting. If you don’t have proper lighting in your rooms, you may end up spoiling the beauty of your well-designed room. Therefore, you may want to consider lighting when it comes to setting your budget.

If you want to open up a small and dark space, you can try a lot of methods, such as light coloured walls, accent lighting, overhead lights, floor lamps, and windows.

3. Use Accent Pieces

We suggest that you get the most out of the accent pieces. One way is to focus on big items, such as tables, dressers, rugs, and couches and ignore the small ones. If you want to make your room visually appealing and personalised, you can use accent pieces. Therefore, you may want to watch out for items, such as books and bowls.

4. Place your Furniture Away from the Walls

Your furniture requires some space to breathe. Therefore, you may not want to push your furniture against the wall as this can make your room appear flat and stiff. What you need to do is have at least a couple of inches of space between your furniture and walls.

5. Your Home is not a Showcase

If you are working on a do-it-yourself home decor project, you don’t have to make it just like the photos you see online in magazines. Actually, the purpose of these photos is to show the furniture and design principles.

What you need to do is have some sentimental and eclectic pieces. The idea is to make sure your home is the best combination of liveability and gorgeous design.

Long story short, we suggest that you follow these 5 interior design tips. These tips will help you make the interior of your house more appealing. But if you have no idea how to go about it, we suggest that you hire the services of a professional interior designer. They will help make this job easier for you.

Spring Cleaning Tips For Clearing Clutter – And How to Turn Some of Your Trash Into Cash

Published

on

By

Do you have too much stuff? Especially too many books, CDs, DVDs, games, etc.? Sometimes it’s hard to let go. Read on for a few ideas that may help you to let go of excess books.

I have my own challenges with too much stuff. The thing is, I really like my books. I have also invested a considerable amount of money in them, so I can’t just throw them out, even if I don’t think I’ll ever read them again.

But… here’s what is helping me:

There’s a way to release them and feel good about it too. Check out the following options:

1) Sell Your Stuff on Amazon Marketplace

That one works especially well with books, media mail items of all kinds, and even other stuff.

You can go to Amazon, find the book or item you have to sell, and just click on “Have one to sell” and you’re off to the races.

2) eBay

You can also sell stuff on eBay of course. eBay works better for non-book items. Still, that’s not always the case. The trick is to know what to sell where.

The same principle applies that I mentioned above: It’s always easier to let things go if you know they’re going to someone who wants them enough to be willing to pay for them.

3) Your favorite charity

Next, you can release anything that won’t go into any of the above categories to your favorite charity. Do pick one that actually has use for your stuff. If you have books and media items, pick a charity that has a store with a nice book section.

There are a couple of places locally that have a very well stocked book section, and I know that if I give my books to them they will find a new home. Another charity, on the other hand, has just a couple of jumbled shelves for the books – book lovers are unlikely to seek them out for special finds.

4) Garage sales

Garage sales are a very popular option when it comes to spring cleaning tips. At some level, it may be less work than eBay OR Amazon.com, but the yield is probably going to be a lot lower as well.

Then again, it helps with clearing clutter, and can be a lot faster than listing things for sale. But you’d have to be willing to let them go for pennies on the dollar.

How Penetration Testing Benefiting the IT Firms

Published

on

By

One of the greatest difficulties in IT security is deciding if the penetration testing tools and designs you have set up are giving your association the level of security you require.

Relying on the major rule that prevention is better than cure, it is basically a data confirmation movement to decide whether the data is suitably secured.

Before knowing its benefits let us first understand what exactly Penetration Testing means.

What is penetration testing?

A penetration testing software, or pen-test, is an endeavor to assess the security of an IT framework by securely attempting to misuse vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities may exist in services, application flaws and Operating systems, improper arrangements or dangerous end-user behavior. Such appraisals are likewise helpful in approving the adequacy of penetration testing tools, and in addition, end-user adherence to security strategies.

It is regularly performed utilizing automated or manual technologies to efficiently trade-off servers, endpoints, web applications, remote systems, organize gadgets, cell phones and other potential purposes of introduction. When vulnerabilities have been effectively abused on a specific framework, testers may endeavor to utilize the bargained framework to launch ensuing adventures at another internal penetration testing- particularly by attempting to incrementally accomplish larger amounts of trusted status and more profound access to electronic resources or data by means of benefit heightening.

It is often possible for a pen tester to increase remote access to OS, database records, and application logic.

Here are the benefits that can help IT firms:

Safeguard corporate client and Image dependability:

Each and every episode of bargained client information can be exorbitant as far as both contrarily influencing deals and discoloring an association’s public image. With client maintenance costs higher than at any other time, nobody needs to lose the faithful clients that they’ve endeavored to acquire, and information breaks are probably going to kill new customers. Website security testing causes you maintain a strategic distance from information episodes that put your association’s dependability and reputation in question.

Brilliantly oversee vulnerabilities:

It gives definite data on real, exploitable security dangers. By executing vulnerability assessment, you can proactively discover which vulnerabilities are more basic, which are less significant and which are false positives. This enables your association to all the more cleverly organize remediation, apply required security fixes and assign security assets all the more successfully to guarantee that they are accessible when and where they are required most.

Meet administrative necessities and keep away from fines:

IT enable associations to address the general inspecting/consistence parts of directions. The detailed testing report that pen-tests create can enable associations to stay away from huge fines for non-compliance and enable them to outline progressing due constancy to assessors by keeping up required network penetration testing controls to examiners.

Avoid the cost of network downtime:

Recovering from a security break can cost an association millions of dollars identified with IT remediation endeavors, client assurance and maintenance programs, lawful activities and much more.

Penetration testing tools:

The testing tools and techniques can be utilized to distinguish some standard vulnerability present in an app. The best testing tools filter code to check if there is malicious code present which can prompt the potential security breach. Penetration testing tools can confirm security loopholes display in the framework by looking at information encryption systems and making sense of hard-coded values like username and password.

The Future of Skateboarding

Published

on

By

Where have we been, where are we now and where is skateboarding going ?

The Beginning

If we’re going to try to figure out the future, it’s probably a good idea to head back first and see how this thing started.

It all began in the fifties, when Californian surfers started attaching roller skate wheels to planks of wood and riding down their local streets. Skateboard manufacturers started springing up in the early sixties and a new lifestyle was born.

Urethane skateboard wheels were invented in 1972 and are still used today. The mid 70s saw the first skateboard parks begin to appear which naturally spawned new styles of riding, new tricks and new boards as skaters went vertical. Also in the mid 70s, a new competitive scene was born when a slalom and freestyle contest was held at the Ocean Festival in Del Mar, California .The famous Zephyr team turned the skateboarding world on its head with their new aggressive approach to freestyle skating. In 1978 the most famous skate trick of all, the “Ollie”, was invented by Alan Gelfand (the 70s were a big decade for skating).

The 80s were a comparatively slow decade for skateboarding although there was a boost that came with the popularity of the VCR when the first skateboard videos were introduced. The Bones Brigade Video Show was particularly popular and made Steve Caballero, Tony Hawk, Mike McGill, Lance Mountain, Rodney Mullen, Stacy Peralta, and Kevin Staab household names amongst the skating fraternity.

The first Extreme Games were held in Rhode Island in 1995 and the skateboarding competition received a lot of attention leading to increased interest in the sport and raised its profile in the broader community. Skateboarding was also part of the first Winter X games in ’97 and competitive skateboarding had truly become mainstream.

The biggest thing to hit skateboarding in the 2000s is the massive popularity of the video game console. Skateboarding games lend themselves well to the format and there have been smash hit video games every year in the 2000s. A new generation of skaters was born as kids traded their console controllers for the real thing.

The Future of Skateboarding

Competitive skateboarding will be established as a legitimate mainstream sport in much the same way as surfing and surf culture. Just a few decades ago, surfers were looked down upon as untrustworthy reprobates. These days parent don’t think twice about wandering into the surf stores that exist in every shopping mall and loading up on clothes with surf labels for their offspring, who mightn’t even know what a beach looks like. Kelly Slater, Mick Fanning, Rip Curl, Quiksilver and Billabong are all trusted global brands now. Like it or not, watch for skating to go the same way. We’ll see mindblowing tricks leveraging energy and athleticism that would seem unimaginable today. Skate heroes will go mainstream and expect to see a much more advanced global competitive scene. Once again it’s instructive to take a look at surfing’s path. The competitive surfing scene floundered for decades before getting its act together in the late 80s, when the brave step was taken to give ultimate control of the sport to a single governing body. A new man-on-man format was introduced and contests were taken to the best waves at the best time of the year. The overall good of the sport finally overcame parochialism and commercial interest and poor, uncompetitive contests were discarded. Now, surfing has hit the big time – it has sophisticated, multi-tiered competitive scene with massive media coverage. Can skating go the same way ? Yes, if it allows itself to.

When it comes to local ramps and skate parks, expect bigger walls, bigger bowls and more of them. As the current generation of skaters grows up and gets its turn to have a say in council spending and infrastructure, well it’s good news for skaters who like parks and ramps.

Technology will impact skateboards in the same way that it’s hitting so many other products. Stronger, lighter materials will appear and the rapid distribution of information means that board and truck design will advance even faster. The impact of the internet is both a challenge and an opportunity for the local skateboard shop. Ecommerce growth rates are huge and more people are keen to buy skateboards online. The web allows a distribution model that effectively puts the consumer closer to the skateboard warehouse. If you long for the old days of the 70s wooden plank, then this mightn’t do much for you but if you’re kid on a limited budget, it’s all good news. Expect better, more technically advanced products at lower prices.

If skateboarding follows the same lines as other markets, then we might see further consolidation amongst the big brands, similar to Billabong’s acquisition of Sector 9. Other big players in today’s skateboard market are brands like Birdhouse, Girl, Zero, Plan B, Element and Blind. There’s a fair chance we could see a large company buy up a stable of big skate brands to get the pricing benefit that comes with volume, which can obviously help with product pricing but doesn’t always result inoriginal product design and creativity (when was the last time Ford or GM came out with a cool product ?). In any market, if the big get bigger, then opportunities arise for small players to carve out their own niche for local markets and buyers who are less brand conscious.

Maple is still the premium construction material for decks but surely the day is approaching when maple will be superceded, at least for some styles of board. New styles of boards will continue to emerge – the humble skateboard of the early days has already evolved into longboards, cruisers, retro boards, pool boards, old school and mountain boards. As well as lighter, stronger trucks and better quality wheels, there’ll be new deck plan shapes and original artwork.

So there you have it, a quick look at the past and a peek into the future – and the future looks good!

6 Tips to Organize User’s Manuals

Published

on

By

When you purchase items such as vehicles, appliances, garden equipment or any type of electronics, they come with user’s manuals. Some come in paper form, while others can be accessed online. These manuals are very important to understand the operation and maintenance associated with the purchased product.

Quick and easy access is a must when you need information about the item. There are different schools of thought on how to organize user’s manuals. As with anything in life, what works for one doesn’t necessarily mean it will work for everyone. Think about the different options listed here, and decide which idea, or combination of ideas will work best for you.

You may be wondering why I’m suggesting that a combination of ideas may work better for you. In the past when I’ve talked about the first step of the organizing process, which is putting like items together, this concept typically is the way you should organize your user’s manuals. I still agree with the concept of putting like items together, but possibly in different physical locations.

For example, all the manuals for the equipment I use outdoors is in a plastic folder on a shelf in my garage. Another example is, the manuals for my tv, dvd player and cable tv are all together in the cabinet where my tv lives. So, the concept of keeping like items together holds true, but in different physical locations. All other manuals that I don’t access frequently, are stored in hanging folders in my filing cabinet.

Check out the list below for options and tips for organizing your user’s manuals.

  • Store manuals where you use the item for quick and easy access. This makes sense for vehicle manuals as most people store them in their glovebox.
  • Store paper user’s manuals in a hanging folder in your filing tote or cabinet. Use dividers in the folder for categories such as, appliances, outdoors, electronics, etc.
  • Alternatively, you can store digital manuals, and/or links to websites for digital manuals using the same categories that you use for paper manuals, for consistency. Evernote is an app that works great for storing and organizing files of all types, paper and electronic and you will have access to them anywhere at any time via smartphone.
  • Attach the receipt, and mark the date of purchase & model number on the front for ease in troubleshooting.
  • When you replace the item, recycle the old user’s manual.
  • Keep all user’s manuals that belong to the home in a folder together and place the folder on the kitchen counter when you move out after the sale of the house.

How To Play Bakugan With Double Strike Bakugan

Published

on

By

When season 3 of the Bakugan series was introduced, there were not only new sets of Core Bakugan and Super Assaults that were released. There was also what we call the Double Strike Bakugan. These are a special kind of Bakugan, created in a way that they can execute a secondary attack when played in a brawl. There are only a few of them, and only two of them have been released so far.

The Double Strike Bakugan is not as popular as the Bakugan Battle Gear or the Bakugan Mobile Assault. This maybe because there are only so very few of them. The battle gears and the mobile assaults have also been widely promoted throughout the community while the Double Strike Bakugan was not. It also has a different set of rules to follow when in play. The rules for the battle gears and mobile assaults are solid and applicable to every battle gear and mobile assault (respectively). But this is not so with the Double Strike Bakugan.

Let us take the two released Double Strike Bakugan, Sky and Gaia Dragonoid Bakugan and Dartaak Bakugan, as examples in explaining how their rules are different from the other Bakugan. Basically, they have a secondary attack that can be triggered by the player, either automatically or manually. When rolled onto a Gate card, the Double Strike Bakugan pops into two pieces, and the game ends up having more action and excitement!

When using the Sky and Gaia Dragonoid in a brawl, roll it onto the Gate cards and see where the opened halves of the Bakugan land. If both pieces land on the same Gate card, the player will decide which piece stays and which other will be moved to the other Gate card on the field. Battle will ensue when there is an opponent on the Gate card. If there opponents on both the cards, the player will pick which battle will start first.

If both pieces of the Sky and Gaia Dragonoid open and land on the same Gate card, and there are no other cards on the field, the player will have to choose which piece will stay in play and which one will be moved to the used pile. Another case wherein one piece will be move to the used pile is when that piece does not land on any card. If it lands elsewhere on the field, then it is moved to the used pile.

The Dartaak Bakugan is similarly used like the Sky and Gaia Dragonoid. It also opens up into two pieces when rolled onto a Gate card. When it lands on the card, only the G-Power of the piece that stays will be used for the battle. If it lands on the opponent’s Gate card, however, the G-Powers of both pieces will be added up and a battle will ensue.

There are other Double Strike Bakugan that haven’t been shown yet, and the rules of how to play them are also not certain. Only the Sky and Gaia Dragonoid and the Dartaak have specific instruction as of now. Their rules are specifically pointed out separately to emphasize how they follow a different gameplay from the other Bakugan. We will know more when more Double Strike Bakugan will be released.

Welding Pot Metal – Tips For How to Tig Weld it With HTS-2000, Aladdin 3 in 1, Or Durafix

Published

on

By

Welding pot metal is not as hard as people say, but it is not as easy as you might think…unless you know the tricks.

Pot metal is used for all kinds of cheap trinkets like figurines, cookie cutters, hole punch handles and especially old automotive window crank handles.  The problem with welding this kind of stuff is that sometimes the effort that goes into welding it is just not worth it. But there are some things made from pot metal that are worth fixing. Some of the ones that come to mind are antiques, old classic car parts like trim and ornaments, and grandmas old cookie cutter that is not worth anything but has sentimental value.

Pot metal is made from aluminum, zinc, copper and possibly a few other low melting point metals in various combinations. It’s also referred to as Die Cast metal.

It’s the zinc that makes it a pain  to weld because zinc has such a low  melting point and also tries to out-gas when tig welded. But It can be welded with few problems if you know how.

The 3 main welding rods are :

  1. HTS-2000
  2. Durafix
  3. Alladin 3 in 1

These rods are advertised to be able to weld using only a small hand held propane torch. That is actually brazing, not welding, but the sales guys at boat shows are really impressive when they braze repair big holes in beer cans.

But these Zinc aluminum brazing rods can also be used to Tig Weld Pot Metal.

If you are pretty decent at tig welding aluminum, you can surely read this article and do OK tig welding this stuff too.

Generally,  pot metal parts are pretty clean so only a minor bit of grinding is required before welding. Usually the problem is that something just broken off clean. If that’s the case, a little grooving out of the crack will permit enough penetration for a strong joint. Remember, if it’s an ornamental piece, and its broken because someone dropped it, Its going to break again if its dropped again no matter how deep you penetrate the weld, so take it easy on the penetration.

You need an A/C tig welding machine with high frequency start.  Most  jobs can be welded with a small 1/16  inch tungsten electrode with a blunt taper on the tip.  Set the amperage to only about 80 amps and you probably wont even need near that much.

Tig weld it just like you would aluminum except that you will only weld for about 5 or 10 seconds at a time before stopping to let it cool. Just when it gets to flowing good. STOP! Its about to melt and fall in your lap. That is the best tip around for welding this stuff.

Stop often and let cool.

Various Benefits Of Quad Roller Skates

Published

on

By

Roller skating made its first appearance sometime around the 1980s and 90s when the youth of that time was looking for new trends and styles to become popular among peer group. The challenge of balancing your body on four wheels and the excitement in moving on those wheels added to the charm of this new item of extreme sports. This along with the fact that it could be done by people of any age made roller skating extremely popular. If you are familiar with roller skates, you’d know that they come in two types, inline and quad roller skates. The difference between both lies in the way their wheels are positioned. The former has its four wheels positioned as a straight line while the latter has two wheels in the front and two wheels at the back.

When it comes to balancing yourself, quad roller skates are more user friendly as your whole foot is placed on the floor. In the case of inline skates, you are standing on a single line of wheels where it is more difficult to balance. This is why quad roller skates are chosen for kids and beginners as they make it easier for the skaters to practice and balance without falling repeatedly. Besides letting you move easily, they also help you in practicing different moves and techniques faster and better.

As it is easier to use and practice, quad roller skates became very useful, not only as a way to have fun and entertainment but also to travel from one place to another within the neighbourhood. It is also useful for exercise and workout, as it can increase the stamina and muscular co-ordination. Therefore, soon after it made its appearance, it became a favorite of not only the youth but also children and older adults. Not only does it helps you keep fit but also gives you a happy and fun-filled family time.

Experts in this sports often complain that quad roller skates do not give as much as speed as inline ones. They are right to an extent. Inline is suited for more professional and skilled players as it provides high speed and scope for variety of techniques and tricks. On the other hand, quad roller skates provide necessary speed that is enough to enjoy the fun. Also, for novice players too much speed is also not a good idea. These skates are perfect for them as this helps them in controlling the speed according to their needs.

Now let us come to the best part of quad skates. With so many uses, they come quite affordable and inexpensive. You can easily purchase them from any skateboard shop, either in person or through the internet. Without emptying your pockets you can find the best products that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Even if you are going for one of the best brands, they come within your budget and with high performance and durability.

The benefits of this sports item don’t end here. They make a perfect gift for your children or friends if you are sure that they can manage it without bringing any harm on themselves. On top of all these, they serve you not only as a source of entertainment and fun but also as convenient and inexpensive way of transport for going to nearby places.

Head of the Pack: Chester Gigolo’s Advanced Dog Training Secrets

Head of the Pack

By: Christina Potter

Publisher: Aperture Press

Publication Date: August 2017

ISSBN: 978-0997302097

Reviewed by: Ellen Feld

Review Date: March 19, 2018

Dog trainer and author Christina Potter, in her third book in the “Chester Gigolo” series, delivers a book that is a lot of fun to read while, more importantly, giving readers a lot of very useful information on dog training.

Head of the Pack is divided into sixteen chapters that examine various aspects of the dog world that will help you train your dog. The book opens with an introduction that shares how much dogs enjoy human companionship and how it works best when both dog and human understand each other. So, how do you improve your ability to communicate with your dog? That’s what the book is all about.

Right away in the first chapter, the author offered advice that drew me in and made me want to read the rest of the book. “Blur the lines between playing and training, and you will have a dog that is delighted to work with you any time.” From there, she goes on to explain that you must be firm but not too firm. How? She uses an analogy of a spaghetti noodle that works perfectly to get her point across. The chapters are fairly short – most are three or four pages – and everything is very easy to understand.

Head of the Pack is “written” by Chester Gigolo, a Berger Picard, and he’s one smart dog. Chester shares his training expertise on a broad range of topics from knowing what each breed has been bred for (and using that knowledge to select the proper dog as well as using their innate instincts to advantage when training) to how often to give treats and even what kind of treats work best. And unlike many dog training manuals that offer tips in a dry, dull manner, Chester is quite funny and entertaining. He livens up each chapter with commentary – for example, when talking about getting treats, “march into the kitchen, load up on yummy treats – in your hands, not in your tummy – and let’s get started.”

There is a lot of useful information in this book that both first-time dog owners and more advanced canine fans will learn from. What I particularly appreciated is that the author didn’t just share her views and say “it works for me, it’ll work for you.” Rather, she backs up her statements with research from around the world, noting the researchers/institutions/journals, how the tests were conducted, and the results. While I’ve had dogs all my life and like to think I know what I’m doing when training, I definitely learned a lot from this book. Did you know that tail wagging doesn’t always mean a dog is happy? What about growling? For tricks, the author advises using your dog’s breed to help determine what tricks will be easiest for your dog to learn and then follows up with several real life examples that show how different breeds react to the same situation. And speaking of tricks, chapter ten (smack dab in the middle of the book) is dedicated to trick training. There are 25 tricks dissected in such a way that again, it’s easy to see how to teach each trick. Most are also accompanied by a picture of a dog performing the trick. I “dog-tested” several of the tricks on my dog Rocco (a dachshund/yorkie mix who is lovable but not the brightest light bulb in the pack), and he was able to follow my lead and do the tricks. That is itself is worth the price of this book!

Deadly Job Interview Mistakes and How to Avoid Them

Published

on

By

You’ve spent days searching through job ads and crafting the perfect resumes and cover letters. Now you have a job interview scheduled. You’re just steps away from your dream job, and in that interview, you’re going to wow them.

You may know what to do during an interview. Do you know what not to do? No matter how much you impress your interviewer in other ways, these deadly job interview and pre-interview mistakes could kill your chances of being hired.

Being Unprepared

Research the company beforehand, on its website and elsewhere. Read reviews about them on Glassdoor and Yelp.

Study job ads the company has posted. You can learn a lot about the company from job descriptions and requirements for other jobs, not just the job you’re applying for. Search local job boards as well as the large aggregator sites like Monster and Indeed.

Avoid being embarrassed. Examine your own online presence well before the interview. Potential employers often do online searches of job candidates, including their social profiles. Unprofessional screen names, posts bad-mouthing an employer, and inappropriate photos could all lower your standing or eliminate you from the running. Clean up your profiles.

Bring several copies of your resume to the interview – you never know who might want one. Bring your list of references, neatly formatted. Bring directions to the interview and your contact person’s name and phone number.

If you might be late for a reason beyond your control, a call to that person could salvage the interview for you. Bring your ID and anything else that the interviewer requests that you bring.

Appearing Disengaged

Your words may indicate that you’re the one to hire, but your body language might contradict your words. Crossed arms, leaning too far back or forward, poor eye contact, distracting movements, and other body language can make you appear detached. To learn more, see Body Language Tips for Your Next Job Interview.

Your demeanor beyond your body language also creates positive or negative impressions. Slouching in the waiting area or appearing lethargic detracts from the impression you want to make. Be poised, confident, and organized starting when you enter the reception area. Smile at the receptionist as well as the interviewer – but don’t smile too much. Be enthusiastic. Let your demeanor show that you’re ready to do the job.

Not having questions to ask also suggests detachment. Questions show that you’ve researched the position and are interested in it. Specific questions about job responsibilities and company culture demonstrate interest. Don’t ask about salary or benefits; let the interviewer bring those up.

Complaining about Your Old Jobs

Your interviewer is probably going to have questions about your current and past jobs. You might be looking for a new job because you can’t stand your current job and you detest your boss. But telling that to the interviewer will probably eliminate you as a candidate for this job.

Keep those negative experiences to yourself. A job interview is not the place to talk about them.

Instead, stay positive, and focus on the future. Talk about how you’re looking for new challenges and new ways to use and develop your skills. If you have to talk about work problems, talk about them as challenges and what you learned from them, without assigning blame.

For example, if your current boss has poor communication skills, talk about how you learned to ask questions and do your own research to clarify what needed to be done.

Acting Inappropriately

Interviewers are for assessing your personality and manners as well as your skills and experience. Acting inappropriately can be just as deadly to your job chances as the other interview mistakes described here.

Getting a little personal during the interview can help you or hurt you. If the interviewer leads the conversation to a personal level, finding common interests or hobbies can be a plus.

Be enthusiastic about them and use them to show that you’re a well-rounded person. On the other hand, talking about medical or family problems, for example, is unprofessional. More likely than not, such details will contribute to a negative view of you.

Watch your language as well. A job interview is not the place to swear.

While interviews and first dates have a lot in common, flirting should be left to dates. It may get you positive attention in other situations, but it may make the interviewer uncomfortable. Be friendly, listen, and take part in the conversation on a professional level.

Not Setting the Path Forward

The end of the interview is the beginning of the next steps. Neglect these steps or take the wrong ones, and that job you almost had could disappear.

When the interview is finishing, ask the interviewer about the hiring time frame. Also ask the interviewer for his or her business card, and send a handwritten thank-you note the next day.

Hand-written notes aren’t common, which makes writing them a great way for you to stand out. If your handwriting is terrible, though, type the note instead but sign it yourself. Avoid generic notes. Use the interviewer’s name and mention the specific interview.

Later, a follow-up call to show that you’re still interested could help tip the scales in your favor. Don’t call more than once, even if you had to leave a message the first time. Too many calls can make you look like a nuisance. As with all steps, be professional.

Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD) or Chronic Lung Disease in Your Premature Baby

Published

on

By

Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD) or Chronic Lung Disease is a problem that usually arises in premature babies born more than 4 weeks premature (under 36 weeks gestation), weighing less than 3 ½ pounds (less than 1500 grams), and within the first 4 weeks of birth. Premature babies born with BPD have lungs that do not work properly making breathing very difficult. Extra oxygen is required and many times a breathing machine (ventilator) is also needed. Premature babies develop BPD from immature lungs, high levels of oxygen, ventilators, infections, pneumonia, or other environmental sources that cause irritation to the lungs.

The breathing problems in these premature babies must be treated quickly because this can lead to low oxygen levels in the blood affecting the premature baby’s brain, heart, liver, and kidneys. However, healthcare providers must be cautious about being too aggressive because some of the treatments can carry their own risk factors if used too freely or often. Many times the risks must be weighed to see which options are in the baby’s best interest for survival and that can change from moment to moment.

Some symptoms of BPD can include tachypnea, coughing, wheezing, chest retraction, see-saw like breathing, neck stretching, and episodes of blue skin. Doctors confirm the diagnosis and severity of BPD by using a chest x-ray, assessing the length of time oxygen is needed, and determining if lung injury has occurred. Treating BPD is tricky since there is no specific treatment or medicine that gets rid of it.

Treating the symptoms with oxygen, the infections with medicine, and keeping the premature baby well nourished with proper amounts of fluid will give the baby’s lungs the chance to mature and heal. Sometimes a premature baby will seem to exhibit symptoms of BPD, but the diagnosis will be Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS). RDS, also known as Hyaline Membrane Disease, or Neonatal Respiratory Distress Syndrome, is one of the most common lung problems in premature babies. Premature baby BPD (Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia) survivors tend to grow slower than usual, and be smaller than babies the same age.
