A Guide to Buying an Electric Scooter

If you ride an electric scooter, you can reach your destination 5 times faster than walking. At the same time, you will be a lot environmentally friendly. Unlike a bicycle, if you ride a scooter, you won’t be sweaty. However, when buying one, we suggest that you consider some important factors, such as reliability, range, weight, size and speed. In this article, we are going to help you invest in an electric scooter. Read on to find out more.

Quality of Ride

Some scooters are not comfortable at all. Their build quality is so poor that you cannot even write them for more than a couple of kilometres unless the surface is very smooth. The quality of the ride will depend on a lot of factors, such as suspension, type of tyres and wheel size. Therefore, make sure that the product you are going to purchase is made of high-quality components.

The speed of the scooter depends upon a lot of elements, such as the type of surface, type of tyres, rider weight and motor power. Typically, the quoted speed is based on some factors, such a smooth surface, properly inflated tires, and weight of the person which is 70 kg.

We suggest that you don’t make your decisions based on the speed of the scooter alone. If the product offers a speed of 15 miles per hour, it is more than enough.

Your safety is of paramount importance. Therefore, if you are going to purchase an electric scooter, make sure you consider the brakes. These products come with three types of brakes: foot brakes, disk brakes and electronic brakes.

The quoted range of an electric scooter is based on some important factors, such as the type of surface and the weight of the rider just like with the speed of the scooter. It is important to keep in mind that cheaper scooters come with batteries that don’t offer long-range.

Build Quality

Today, almost every product is made in China. Based on the demand of customers, they make both high quality and low-quality products. Therefore, we suggest that you stick to a reputable company and buy a scooter that is well built. High-quality products stand the test of time.

E-scooters are a new product on the market. Therefore, we suggest that you buy from popular manufacturers only. This is important if you want to get a reliable product. After all, you don’t want to end up with the rubbish quality product.

Make sure that the scooter is suitable for you. In other words, you may want to get the right size based on your height and weight. Apart from this, if the bike is too big, you may find it difficult to store it in your house. If the scooter can be folded down, it will be easier to store under your desk or in your car.

Weight of Scooter

If the scooter is too heavy, it won’t be able to travel your desired distance. Generally, the majority of electric scooters weigh 15 kg, give or take. Ideally, you want to get a unit that weighs less than 15 kg.

In short, we suggest that you consider these tips when looking for your desired electric scooter.

Instead, stretch your legs out a little and do whatever you think is best for you to loosen-up and relax.

4. Keep Your Head Up – The skate park can be full of skaters or bikers and that time it is important for you to know as what exactly is happening around you. Try to be sharp, attentive and thus watch-out for yourself. Wait for your turn if you feel like skating on an obstacle. Crashing into guys is common but try saving yourself from it.

5. Trust Your Gut – While skateboarding, always listen to your intuition. If you are having a bad feeling regarding a certain trick, don’t do it. Skateboarding is all about coming out of your comfort zone. Getting wiped out is a part of the learning process. However, you can avoid various nasty wipe-outs by simply trusting your gut feeling.

Try to practice the tips and tricks you have learnt at home and then implement them at the skate park. Also, don’t be afraid of trying anything new as every professional skateboarder was an amateur once.

Tending The Heart: How to Get From Fear to Empowerment

Fear constricts and empowerment frees; and tending the heart allows us to find our way to that freedom.

Fear is a deeply rooted meme in society because every generation on earth has faced the need for survival. In earlier times, fear of abandonment was primary for most individuals, because abandonment by the tribe most often led to death.

Fear is also used extensively by egoic minds and unawakened beings to control, manipulate and force consensus, even when it is false.

Fear is an illusion

Fear is truly false, for it presents false evidence in order to coerce us into submission; it often parades the imminent danger of abandonment to make us cower from the possibility of what other humans might do to us.

Even this grandiose posturing of fear is false! In truth, the Creator cannot abandon creation, for the creation is the very expression of Divinity in physical form. To abandon creation, the Creator has to abandon Himself, and that is not possible. Both Creator and creation are one in consciousness; therefore all divisive concepts of fear and abandonment come from the unawakened ego self.

To make space for the realization of Divine support and protection in our lives, we need to evict the fear of what man can do to us.

We need to understand that fear is a man-made phenomenon that has no power over our eternal souls. Only then can we affirm that we are embraced by a loving Creator who does not and cannot abandon His creation.

Tending the heart

Once we have revealed fear for what it is: false evidence appearing real, there is a Zen Buddhist teaching that reminds us there are only two things in this world we need to do: sit and tend the garden.

Even though the world is full of suffering, it is also full of empowerment to overcome. When we stop and become quiet, we can see this.

And so, we need to tend our hearts so we can transition from fear to faith; from disempowerment to true empowerment.

Take the time to sit and calm your heart; feel beneath the fear to the woundedness there that begs for healing. It takes courage to step away from the crowd, to push away the busy schedule and to sit, tending your heart and your soul. Yet all masters knew how important that is: even Gandhi took one day a week to sit in silence, tending the garden of his heart so he could be the change he sought in the world.

Right action

When we’ve taken time to tend the heart, we can engage in meaningful action. How you do your work is as important as what you do. Never act out of guilt, because then you are propagating the very suffering of the world. If you truly wish to grow love and not anger, fear or guilt, then do what you do from love, and not from any other emotion.

When acting out of guilt, anger or fear, we act out of ego, no matter how noble the cause we engage in.

Expand your circle

We also need to stay connected to the whole of life, even as we figure out our individual parts of the journey. Don’t draw your circle of life too small. You are more than one person – you are one with life itself, expressing in this life through consciousness.

Reclaim your connection

It is in sitting and contemplation that we recognize the stillness of the Creator Presence and our connection to all. That awareness can foster in us spontaneous caring and compassion for the woundedness of the world, so we commit to the awakening and care of the world.

Many brave souls have gone before to show the way. I often find inspiration in this excerpt of author Diane Ackerman’s poem titled School Prayer:

“In the name of daybreak

and the eyelids of morning

and the wayfaring moon

and the night when it departs,

I swear I will not dishonor

my soul with hatred,

but offer myself humbly

as a guardian of nature,

a healer of misery,

a messenger of wonder,

and an architect of peace.”

Centuries earlier, the Buddha taught: “To live in joy and love even among those who hate; to live in joy and health, even among the afflicted; to live in joy and peace, even among the troubled; quiet your mind and tend the heart, and free yourself from fears and confusion and attachment, and know the sweet joy of living in the Way.”

What is your gift to the world that only you can bring? Listen closely, push beyond fear to find it, and then commit to do it with love and joy!

Win Your Ex-Girlfriend Back Love Songs

The universe is musical at heart. Everyone, no matter who they are, turns to music when going through an intense emotional time. Breaking up with your girlfriend can be one the of most emotionally trying times in your life, and the first thing you want to do is to win her back. Music can be your aid. If your girlfriend has broken up with you, maybe the quickest way back to her heart is through song. Music has a long tradition with the world of lovers, and a beautiful song can go a long way when you’re trying to win your girlfriend back. If you’re feeling crushed and lonely, a beautiful song can help you express your broken heart to your ex-girlfriend. It’s a gentle and romantic way to earn your ex-girlfriend’s warmth without being too obvious. Music stirs feelings and the right song can evoke the memories and feelings that can eventually persuade your girlfriend to forgive you and come back to you. No matter what happened in your relationship, the right song can help you express how you feel about your girlfriend. Here are some of the most beautiful love songs that can help you convey your sentiments.

The World Has Turned And Left Me Here by Weezer

In this song, Rivers Cuomo compares his ex-girlfriend to the world, saying that “the world has turned, and left me here/ just where I was before you appeared/ and in your place and empty space has filled the void…” The very chorus expresses a simple yet profoundly sad thought. You want to tell your girlfriend that she is the world to you, and that without her, you are alone and empty.

Colors by Amos Lee

Amos Lee expresses his heartbreak by saying, “when you’re gone, colors seem to fade,” meaning that without the love of his girlfriend, the very colors in the world are faded, his world is gray, and his very senses are dulled and dying without her. There is no joy in his life, and he is unable to see beauty in the world. The song states “I know we all/ we all got our faults/ we get locked in our vaults and we stay…” He means to tell her that he’s not perfect, he has done wrong, and that without her his heart is imprisoned.

New Slang by The Shins

This song begins by saying, “turn me back into the pet that I was when we met/ I was happier then with no mind-set.” The artist has broken up with his girlfriend and longs for the beautiful time when they first met, before their troubles, and when he was in her good graces. The chorus then chimes “And if you took to me like a gull takes to the wind…I’d dance like the King of the eyesores and the rest of our lives would’a fared well…” If his girlfriend would only love him again, his whole life would be wonderful.

Unintended by Muse

This song is perfect if you want to express how fate has made your life unexpectedly beautiful by bringing your girlfriend to you. “You could be my unintended choice to live my life extended/ You could be the one I’ll always love.” This tells your girlfriend that she is the one and only girl to have ever marked your heart so deeply, that you never expected you could be so happy with someone, and that you will always cherish her.

I will Follow You Into The Dark by Death Cab for Cutie

One way to get your ex-girlfriend back is to express just how far you would go for her love and to be with her. The song begins with “Love of mine, someday you will die/ but I’ll be close behind/ I’ll follow you into the dark.” If that isn’t devotion, I don’t know what is.

Yesterday by The Beatles

This song is a classic and expresses your immensely deep regret and sadness at losing your girlfriend. Paul McCartney sings “I’m not half the man I used to be/ there’s a shadow hanging over me/ Oh yesterday came suddenly.” Clearly he’s feeling extremely low without his true love. His girlfriend has left him and now he longs for the days when she was in his life.

A Long December by Counting Crows

This song chronicles a man’s sad and lonely existence without his girlfriend. She has left him and “the days go by so fast.” He’s done something wrong and the winter in December “…makes you talk a little lower about the things you could not show her.” Finally, he sings about how he only wishes for her mercy with “If you think I could be forgiven, I wish you would…”

Such Great Heights by Iron & Wine

This song expresses the concept of being someone’s soulmate perfectly with “…God himself did make us into corresponding shapes like puzzle pieces from the clay.” This song expresses to your ex-girlfriend that you two are meant to be, that it is against the heavens for you to be apart, and that you are soulmates. If you want to try to work things out with your girlfriend despite your past relationship problems, letting your girlfriend know that you believe that she is your soulmate can help her consider giving you another chance.

Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen

Leonard Cohen sings this song in the most haunting way that expresses the beauty, pain, tragedy, and final glory of love. This song is about completely surrendering to the power of love and allowing love to make you vulnerable but free. It conveys how love is everything, how love can hurt us but also save us. It first speaks of the famous biblical Samson who allows his love Delilah to cut his hair which made him lose all his power. The song says “She tied you to her kitchen chair/ She broke your throne and she cut your hair/ And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah.” Samson allows Delilah to do this because he loves her. This tells your girlfriend that you are willing to risk losing everything for her love. In the final verse, Leonard Cohen sings “…and even though it all went wrong/ I’ll stand before the Lord of Song/ with nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah.” This conveys that even though he is completely broken, that even though things turned out badly, he submits his whole soul to his love with his heart wide open.

Cultural Appropriation or Cultural Divisiveness

For some years now, certain Native American groups claiming their ways, their customs, and their beliefs have been taken over by white people. First, I quarrel with that label, Native American. Those early people who lived in what is now called the United States of America were not created here. They, like everyone else’s families, immigrated to this land. The white man is accused of bringing disease, brutality, and war to the shores of the North American Continent. The concept of the Nobel Savage died many years ago. We are into a trend of making the First Settlers, as I prefer to call them, nearly saints. They, we are being led to believe, have the answers to a natural diet, the clues to understanding the natural world, direct connection to the Spirit World and a higher moral standard. Lest we forget, these First Settlers waged war against one another, raped and killed one another, and kidnapped members of each other’s tribes. They were not and are not saints.

I am picking up complaints about cultural appropriation of tribal customs, beliefs, and mores by the white man. Sacred ceremonies and spiritual customs are being embraced by populations outside of the First Settlers creating a resentment. Copying, imitating, and mimicking are really the highest forms of flattery. So what’s the real issue? Non-First People pretending to be First People, claiming powers and visions associated with sacred animals? Disagreement over what First Settlers’ healers are to be called. The words shaman and shamanism are resented by some tribal members from the east coast to the west coast of the United States. Derogatory terms such as Plastic Shaman applied to non-First Settlers who have attempted to copy what they view as the best in those cultures to heal others. Maybe it’s the pretense of doing the actual healing? As a white man who is a healer, I understand those feelings. I call myself shaman because people understand that word. Years ago automobile was the word; now it’s car and everyone understands what is meant. Cute and pretty have so many uses they no longer have real meaning. Yet we understand the phrase, “pretty neat.” How about the word love? Love my car, love my dog, love my shirt, love burgers and fries. The point being, we tend to use those words which convey current meaning. Cool is a classic example. When it is used it seldom refers to the weather.

Are not the names Sioux, Mohawk, Hopi, Creek, Lakota and the rest of the 568 tribes in the United States each viewing their customs and beliefs to be the one to follow? And isn’t that divisive? With 50,000 Christian churches in the United States, each claiming their version is the right path to the kingdom of Heaven I wonder if they are not divisive. Whenever one group claims superiority over another we have discrimination, the rise of bigotry, and prejudice.

Is it not a sign of acceptance that various groups begin to assimilate each other’s ways? Are not the First Settlers dressing in blue jeans, eating spaghetti, using a white man’s invention to travel in? Should the black man, yellow man, or white man be disgruntled because people like and copy their food, music, and names? A big deal is made about having corn beef and cabbage for St. Patrick’s Day even if one is not Irish and Catholic. I wonder if we can begin to accept the notion that each culture, no matter how big or small, has things to contribute to the whole community. Can we come to understand and to accept that there is but one race, the human race? Can we get by the really out of date notion of one is better than another? I surely hope so.

Face Off: How to Draw Amazing Caricatures and Comic Portraits – A Book Review

If you’ve been to a street fair or amusement park lately, you may have seen a caricature artist in action. People stop to have their comic portraits drawn in a cartoon style, often with very large heads and tiny bodies doing something funny. If you’d like to learn how to draw these types of drawings, the book, Face Off: How to Draw Amazing Caricatures and Comic Portraits, by Harry Hamernik, can help.

Most books on how to draw caricatures are from famous artists who have done many celebrity portraits in the past. Artists like Dick Gautier and Lenn Redman are two of the better known ones. But their styles are a little dated, and you might be looking for something more applicable to modern style.

The book starts by discussing materials and supplies you will need, including pencils, paper, markers and color pencils. I like the instructions for a do-it-yourself lap easel, which can be made cheaply if you have very basic handy construction skills.

It then covers marker, pencil, and colored pencil techniques. These include how to not get fuzzy lines, varying your lines, working with value, and color blending. Then he shows how to color a portrait using pencils and even some computer coloring techniques.

He presents a specific process for drawing a portrait and encourages you to draw ten faces every day for twenty days in a row before trying to sketch someone. You need to know how to do the process of a caricature first, without getting stuck, before you can then add the difficulty of trying to make it look like someone.

The next section covers how to draw specific features. He gives several sample face shapes and examples of noses, eyes, hair, etc. There are multiple helpful hints and tips scattered throughout, such as this one about eyes: “A larger iris will make your subject look younger. Think Bambi.”

He also discusses and explains distance, anchor, and pivot points. These are key when drawing portraits, because the tiniest change in details can make your caricature look like the person or not. Drawing a likeness is extremely difficult.

The rest of the book contains two large sections, one for 3/4 view portraits, and one for profile views. These, like the section on face forward portraits, give lots of examples, tips, and tricks.

There is a great sampling of different facial types and a fair range of ages, although there are no older people at all. But there are some with glasses, a head bandana, jewelry, and facial hair, the sorts of things that can trip you up.

Overall, this is an excellent overview if you are wanting to learn how to draw in this style. Face Off: How to Draw Amazing Caricatures and Comic Portraits, by Harry Hamernik will get you started in the right direction.

Tips For DIY Mobile Phone Repairs

If you spend a few hours searching online, you can learn a lot about DIY mobile phone repair. You can find a lot of articles and YouTube videos that can help you do different types of repair projects step by step. It’s true that the task is not easy, especially when you are going to work on your own handset that is about to die. However, if you do it the right way, you can save plenty of money on repair.

If you are too nervous to do the repair yourself, we can help. In this article, we have put together a few important tips and tricks that can help you perform the repair successfully. Let’s read the tips.

Take your time

No matter how impatient you may be, don’t rush. What you need to do is take your time, which will ensure the job is done right the first time. Since popular brand handsets are so expensive, making the repairs in rush is not a good idea as a lot of money and your precious data is at stake. Your chances of success will be higher if you make the fewest mistakes possible.

Get organized

If you are not organized, you won’t be able to fix your phone. Make sure all of your tools are organized. Each type of tools should be in its own container. This will prevent misplacement. It’s a good idea to keep different types of tools in separate containers.

Organization is important when it comes to dissembling and assembling of your device. For instance, you can put the first screw you removed all the way to the right. In the same way, the second screw will be put next to the first. This will make it easier for you to assemble your device once the problem is fixed.

Take care of the wires

You should be gentle. If you are not careful, you may end up breaking a cable or wire, which will make the repair work even more difficult. In worst scenario, you may even end damaging a wire that will make it impossible for you to move on.

Don’t force yourself

If you find it too difficult, don’t force yourself. If you can’t fit a component, don’t force it. If you are struggling to fit a fresh part into a socket, know that there is something in the way. Forcing it is not a good idea as it may damage the device for good.

Be careful with the screws

You should be gentle when it comes to tightening the screws. Although it’s important to tighten each screw, make sure you don’t use too much force or the screw or screw hole may get damaged.

As a general rule, once a screw feels tight, stop. This will ensure that everything is all right.

Long story short, you can do common mobile repair jobs yourself if you know how to go about it. But if you have no idea about the basics of the mobile phone repair, we suggest that you don’t follow the DIY route as it may ruin your phone costing you a good deal of money. In this case, you should hire the services of a professional.

Skateboarding Background

Skateboarding is a very popular worldwide action sport that involves riding and performing tricks on a skateboard. Believe it or not the skateboarding industry is a 4.6-billion-dollar industry and there’s believed to be over 11 million active skateboarders. Just recently it was announced that skateboarding will be in the 2020 Olympics.

There are two different types of skateboards. There is a longboard and short board. Longboards are very different then short boards because longboards are like the name very long and also have big wheels which allows for cruising at greater speeds. On the other hand, short boards have more of a concave for pop and are smaller and are more ideal for tricks instead of just riding.

It’s been said that skateboarding was created in California but nobody really knows. Skateboarding was created in the late 40’s early 50’s by surfers that wanted to something to do when the waves were flat. The first manufactured skateboard was ordered by a Los, Angeles surf shop meant to help surfers use their surfing maneuvers on land. They used boards shaped like surfboards and carved around the streets and local pools that were empty. The old school boards were a square wooden board with wheels on it. In the 1970’s skateboarding blew up there were more companies that were manufacturing boards and it was becoming really popular. Skaters were riding empty pools like they were surfing a wave which created a revolution in skateboarding. In this time there were a lot of competitions in the California and Florida regions which most of the time the rewards were cash and sponsorships by companies. I would say in the 2000’s skateboarding really took off and became one of the most popular action sports in the world. Also the technology for making boards was better so instead of wooden shape boards with simple designs the boards were becoming more sophisticated. In the sense of the boards were being made with more concave which helps for jumping and grinding rails.

There are two different kinds of skateboarding, street and vert. Vert is the act of riding a skateboard on a skate ramp or an incline which involves transitioning from horizontal plane to vertical plane. The place that skateboarders usually skate vert is at a skate park which is a park designed for skateboarding that has ramps, rails, and other obstacles that skateboarders will be able to hit on a skateboard. The most famous vert skateboarder which everyone in the world knows about this guy is Tony Hawk. He’s famous for getting massive air on huge vert ramps and also he’s the first skateboarder to successfully land a 900 spin on a vert ramp. On the other hand, street skating is much different then vert whereas instead of skateboarding at a skate park skaters use the street as their park.

For example, skaters would try to ollie (jumping on a skateboard) over stairs and attempt to grind handrails that are going down the stairs. As a skater once you have this mindset of the things you can hit you will never lose that thinking. When street skating one doesn’t have to hit stairs but could hit ledges that are everywhere or wall ride a random wall. There is a lot of controversy over this because a lot of skateboarders get arrested or called the cops on because business or people think skateboarders are destroying their property. Which in most cases is not true but I could see why they don’t want skateboarders doing it because grinding down a handrail does leave scratches on the rail. That’s why skateboarders have such a bad stereotype of being destructive savages.
