  • Nets/Voiles- Apart from the standard curtains, which is made up of heavier fabrics, much light-weighted voiles or nets are quite popular for kitchens. The net curtains or voiles are popular but a little drawback with this product is that it easily picks up the dirt and grows mould, and also provides limited privacy.
  • Blinds- A different variety of blind called popularly as off-the-shelf blinds that are different in terms of style and light control, are available in the market upon user’s high demand. All sort of blinds including Roman, vertical or classic Venetians are highly effective as far as privacy is concerned. On the other hand, these blinds can damage easily because of its light weight and can also bang against the window in a breeze.
  • Shutters- A shutter is the more premium, high-quality and a bespoke choice available for kitchens. They are convenient for every house owner as they are easy to keep clean and don’t require high maintenance. The Bi-fold shutters are considered as the most stylish choice of window covering for the kitchen as well as every place in the home. From traditional to more contemporary designs, shutters have been a popular choice since years.
  • Tinted film- Window films are very much similar to a net curtain providing limited shading. They can only reduce the light rather blocking it. Films are usually used with other window coverings.
  • Bare windows- A large number of house owners prefer going as minimal as they can and therefore they are opting for no window treatments for their kitchen windows. A bare window provides no light control, no privacy or insulation, offering the home owners an unrestricted view of their garden.

3 Fun & Creative Boys Bedroom Ideas

Published

on

By

If you’re looking for boys bedroom ideas to redecorate your son’s bedroom, then you need to read this article. We’re going to look at three popular choices for bedroom themes for boys of various ages.

For infants, bedroom designs are really more for the parents’ sake than for the boy. There are lots of great ways to design a nursery, whether you choose Pooh Bear, Noah’s ark or some other design.

At this age, it’s really up to you how to decorate the room. A trip to your local paint store or a home improvement store like Lowes or Home Depot will give you lots of ideas for themes for young boys. Just keep in mind that if it’s too babyish, you might find yourself with a 2 or 3 year old who wants his room redecorated because he’s not a baby anymore!

For toddlers, up to about 9 or 10 years old, one of the most popular designs is Disney’s Cars movie. Most boys love cars anyway, and Disney performs their usual movie-making magic with this one to make it even more popular.

Lightning McQueen, ‘Mater, Doc Hudson and the gang can all be part of your son’s room with a bit of work. As with most of the things Disney creates, they sell a ton of different products with Cars on them, including several things you can use to decorate a bedroom.

You can buy Cars wallpaper borders, wall decals, bedding and even a Lightning McQueen bed. Disney even offers a couple of patterns on their website for designing a Cars bedroom, right down to the specific paint colors to make it as authentic as possible.

For older boys, 10 or 11 years old on up through their teenage years, there are lots of options. Their favorite movies, music, video games, and TV shows are all potential themes for their bedroom.

The important thing to consider at this age is how quickly their tastes may change. All these things can change from one year to the next, and you don’t want to have to redecorate their room every time they decide to want something new.

The best way to design a theme for older boys is to use colors and decor that are fairly general and then use things like posters, wall decals, etc. to “theme” the room. That way, when their favorite band/movie/etc. changes, you can change the bedroom without a huge amount of time or money invested.

Even if you are an animal activist or lover, you will love mink sheets and blankets because these products are not really made from the hides of live minks. In reality, the blanket is simply made from man-made acrylic fabric. The only reason why this type of fabric is called mink is due to its softness, suppleness and warmth.

So, how can a mink blanket make your bedroom one that is to die for? It is worth noting that mink blankets are available in various colors and designs. If you want something that looks like it came out of Africa, then you can choose among tiger, leopard and even wolf prints that are available. You can also choose from a range of colors, such as gold, white, black, and even gray. Many Italian-inspired elegant bedrooms have blankets with animal prints and designs. You can even find a blanket that will look good and beautiful in your kids’ bedrooms.

Mink blankets are truly visually appealing. Apart from being pleasant to the sight, a mink blanket is also an epitome of softness, comfort and luxury. Once you brush your hands on mink fabric, you will surely love to lie down on your bed all day long. If you have a mink spread or blanket, you will instantly feel rich and famous. If you invite your friends to your home, they will surely be impressed if not envious of the elegance and richness of the blanket that you are using. Who would not want to sleep and cuddle underneath a blanket that is as soft, smooth, warm and dense as a mink?

Lastly, people know that a mink blanket is expensive. The moment they see that you have a mink on your bed, they will not doubt that your taste is elegant and rich. So if you want to impress people like your in-laws, make sure to have a mink blanket not only in your own bedroom but also in the guest bedroom so that guests will know that you have a classy taste in furnishings and accessories.

A Guide to Hotel Linen Sizes

Published

on

By

Hotel quality bed linen, duvets and towels are a cut above the rest and that’s why hotel rooms always have that sumptuous, luxurious feel. However, how do we know what the industry standards are to make your hotel room so comfortable?

Bed Linen:

Bed linen in hotel rooms has a lovely, luxurious feel and this is often down to the thread count of the linen itself. The higher the count of the threads in the item, the softer and more comfortable the bedding seems to be. The thread count is the number of fibres horizontally and vertically inside a square inch of the material and the higher this is, the better the quality. Hotel bed linen has a thread count of around 300-400 threads.

This then fits over the beds in the room, of which there are a number of different sizes. The exact measurements may differ slightly from one manufacturer to another.

UK Bed Measurements:

• Single: Fitted Sheet – 90 x 190cm; Flat Sheet – 180 x 265cm; Duvet Cover – 137 x 203cm

• Double: Fitted Sheet – 141 x 196cm; Flat Sheet – 230 x 275cm; Duvet Cover – 198 x 203cm

• King size: Fitted Sheet – 152 x 200cm; Flat Sheet – 275 x 280cm; Duvet Cover – 244 x 234cm

• Super king size: Fitted Sheet – 183 x 200cm; Flat Sheet – 305 x 305cm; Duvet Cover – 270 x 234cm

Towels:

Towels are also subject to specific requirements for hotels and the width of the cotton towel or its weight is usually measured in GSM, this is grams per square inch. Low quality towels can have a GSM of 200. However, towels in hotels generally have a GSM of at least 600 and up to 800. This ensures they are more absorbent and also softer as there is more cotton to absorb the liquid.

Bath towels in hotels usually come in four different sizes. Again, exact measurements may vary.

Types of Towels and Their Sizes:

• Large towel – 100 x 178cm

• Medium size bath towels – 70 x 137cm

• Small size hand towels – 50 x 100cm

• Smallest size towels – 33 x 33cm

Duvets:

The duvet in hotel rooms is usually made from quality natural materials. The tog is how the duvet’s insulation is measured, and doesn’t signify the thickness of the duvet as many people think. This is because different fillings may have the same tog, but differ in thickness.

Togs generally come in six sizes 4, 7.5, 10, 10.5, 12 and 13.5.

Typically, a 4 tog duvet is used for the warmer summer months, whereas the 10.5 tog and 13.5 tog are used for winter months.

So, now you understand the different sizes, thicknesses and materials used by hotels you can buy all your linen, towels and duvets with confidence.
