Kelis released a music video for her new single “Midnight Snacks” – her first single since 2014.

The music video was directed by Adrienne Raquel (Travis Scott, Rihanna, Selena Gomez). The video premiered on Oct. 7 on BET Soul, BET Her and the Times Square Viacom billboard.

Somebody recently told Kelis that she always sings about food. “I was like, do I?” she laughed.

“I mean, obviously I do. It isn’t intentional, but the idea is just that food is a very carnal thing. Everyone can relate to it. It’s very human, it’s sensual, it’s something that you crave. And it’s sexy.”

According to Radio Facts,”Midnight Snacks” was recorded in a studio on a boat in London and produce by The FaNaTix (Nicki Minaj, Popcaan, Vybz Kartel).

Kelis said she was inspired to write “Midnight Snacks” after hearing the beat.

“I heard the beat, thought it was dope, and the first thing that came to mind was ‘Midnight Snacks,'” said Kelis.

“The FaNaTix were like, what are you talking about? And I was like, it makes you feel like a midnight snack! And that was it,” says Kelis, who added she may keep singing about food.

“It’s funny to me, but I like the fact that you can take sex and food, and you can put these two things together, and they’re totally interchangeable. I love that.”

Kelis’ husband, Mike Mora, 36, recently revealed his yearlong battle with stomach cancer.

Kelis has not commented on her husband’s cancer diagnosis.

Tottenham Riddim Remarks: Adele [Paulette Shelly-Ann Adkins] Admits She Was Wrong For Them Caucasified Carnival Bantu Knots

So…

Do y’all remember last year when British-Knights-for-British-whites singer Adele was in Jamaica wearing a Jamaican flag bikini and Bantu knots at the Notting Hill festival?

Adele was out here looking like she just changed her name to “Karen-dem” and you just knew she was walking around Jamaica singing, “Hey mon’ from the other siiiiiiiide!”

It was embarrassing, but we Black folk got a good laugh out of it.

Well now, Adele is looking to clean things up and is no longer rolling pon di deep as she has come to glory on the fact that, in the history of things that ain’t it, her cultural cosplay was among the ain’t-it-iest.

“I could see comments being like, ‘the nerve to not take it down,’ which I totally get,” she said in a recent interview with British Vogue. “But if I take it down, it’s me acting like it never happened. And it did. I totally get why people felt like it was appropriating.”

Adele continued saying her thinking was:

“If you don’t go dressed to celebrate the Jamaican culture – and in so many ways we’re so entwined in that part of London – then it’s a little bit like, ‘What you coming for, then?’”

“I didn’t read the f**king room,” she rightfully concluded. “I was wearing a hairstyle that is actually to protect Afro hair. Ruined mine, obviously.”

That’s right—the “When We Were Yutes”—sorry, I mean, “Young”—singer has become one of the latest white women to realize that Black hairstyles are not designed for their strings and kinda-curls. It’s why white people’s locs always look like used S.O.S. pads and when they put braided extensions in their hair they’re basically lynching their own edges.

But I guess we can forgive Adele now that she’s no longer setting hot fya to the rain and acting like she plans to name her next album “Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, and Dylan” instead of “30” or “35” or whatever the hell age she is now.

She’s still going to catch these jokes, though.

You, Me & Everyone We Know is Doing Just Fine in New Long-Awaited ‘Something Heavy’ Album

Published

on

Ben Liebsch of You, Me & Everyone We Know

You, Me & Everyone We Know is doing ‘better than ever’ after a turbulent road to self-discovery with the release of ‘Something Heavy,’ their first album in years — and that’s OK.

If you know anything about Washington, D.C.-based indie band You, Me & Everyone We Know, then you have at least a hint of how pivotal the band’s return is. The group is back with a new album after more than a decade of, essentially, trying to get its sh*t together. Dramatic exits, struggles with mental health, and a deeper search for meaning in life have all converged and culminated in the highly-anticipated Something Heavy, the full-length project that YM&EWK frontman Ben Liebsch tells HollywoodLife is a “search for understanding, finding that understanding and what comes after.”

Bursting onto the scene with an electrifying, in-your-face tracklist featuring the band’s signature pithy lyrical style, Something Heavy gives us a lot to think about. “I don’t care, I don’t care, I don’t care anymore,” which Ben belts out in the album’s opening track aptly named, “I Don’t Care Anymore, I’m Enough Now,” lets longtime fans and even new listeners know: something important is about to go down here. Pay attention. The songs on the album are meant to smack you in the face emotionally. They’re meant to make you feel something – anything – about your own life and, if possible, relate to an experience someone else might be going through too. “Things boil down to feeling for yourself (emotionally) the reality that you are enough. There is nothing to improve,” said Ben, who identifies as nonbinary, in an EXCLUSIVE interview with HollywoodLife, adding that they hope this album (and the band itself, for that matter) provides “a weird light in the dark for all those who have been othered in life.”

It’s no secret that pain exists on the album. It’s aggressively expressed in the cheeky juvenile-like chant “I hate myself, you should hate you too” of the album’s titular song “Something Heavy” featuring Proper; in the head thrashing pop-punk beats of “Better Than I Ever Was” featuring Rivals; subtly woven into the softer-spoken “I’m still wading through the mud” chorus of “(Still) Basically a God.” Ben is clearly “going through something” from start to finish. And whether anyone thinks that’s normal or not to put out there for the world to hear, Ben is here to tell you, it is.

“It almost feels like mental health is becoming some sort of meritocracy. Let me be clear: it is not,” Ben said on the subject of mental health transitioning into a more acceptable topic to discuss publicly, but not without its nuances, even exploitative aspects at times. “I want to affirm the feelings that don’t go away with diet and exercise, with yet another book from the self-help industry, or some new tech that tells you how you slept are normal. Many of us experienced something that we shouldn’t have had to, and now we’re all walking around with the mental equivalent of a sprained ankle.”

Make no mistake – Something Heavy isn’t a cry for help. Rather, it’s an affirmation that acknowledging your trauma, accepting that trauma, and embracing the fact that it takes time to heal, time to learn about yourself, and time to allow those experiences to inform whatever changes you undergo along the way – good and/or not as good. Not to be cliché, but yeah, it’s ok to not be ok. And Something Heavy isn’t afraid to say it.

Shannen Doherty Shares Raw Photos For Breast Cancer Awareness: ‘Find Humor In The Impossible’

Shannen Doherty

Shannen Doherty gave her fans a ‘truthful’ look into her cancer battle, and said she hopes to encourage others to ‘face whatever might be in front of you.’

Shannen Doherty, 50, marked Breast Cancer Awareness Month  by giving her fans an in-depth look into her health struggles. The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and went into remission two years later, only for the actress to announce in Feb. 2020 that the cancer had returned at stage IV. So on Thursday (Oct. 7), Shannen opened up about her cancer journey by sharing two photos to Instagram that were taken during her difficult battle.

In the first pic, Shannen snapped a selfie that showed her bald head and bleeding nose. The second snapshot featured the actress seemingly resting in bed while dressed in a set of Cookie Monster pajamas. Shannen then got super honest about her cancer battle in her caption, and explained how she hopes her story will encourage and inspire others.

“For breast cancer awareness month, I’d like to share more of my own personal journey from my first diagnosis to my second,” Shannen wrote alongside the two photos. “Is it all pretty? NO but it’s truthful and my hope in sharing is that we all become more educated, more familiar with what cancer looks like. I hope I encourage people to get mammograms, to get regular checkups, to cut thru the fear and face whatever might be in front of you.”

Shannen went on to explain how she “had a mastectomy and did chemo and radiation” following her initial cancer diagnosis, which resulted in nose bleeds. “Not sure if any of you experienced this,” she said. “I also was beyond tired. I cheered myself up by putting on funny pajamas that my friend Kristy gave me. Did they actually cheer me up? Yes!! Lol. I looked ridiculous and in that ridiculousness, I was able to laugh at myself. Finding humor helped get me thru what seemed impossible. I hope we all find humor in the impossible.” Shannen added the hashtag “breastcancerawareness” to cap off her emotional post.

Ever since her cancer returned, Shannen has been determined to beat this fight again. On October 4, she declared her intent to “keep fighting to stay alive” during an appearance on Good Morning America. “A lot of people who get diagnosed with Stage IV, they sort of get written off,” Shannen told journalist Juju Chang. “It’s assumed that they cannot work or they can’t work at their full capacity, and that is not true. That is something that I would really like for people to stop assuming and give us a chance to prove them wrong.”

As Shannen’s health battle continues on, she’s received incredible support from her fans, family, and famous friends. Brian Austin Green described Shannen as “a fighter” to HollywoodLife last year, while Ian Ziering told us his former co-star is “resilient” and “as feisty as ever.”

RHOBH Season 12 to Begin Filming Next Week as Producers Hone in on Erika Jayne’s Legal Drama

REPORT: RHOBH Season 12 to Begin Filming Next Week as Producers Hope to Avoid Missing Key Happenings in Erika Jayne

Credit: Bravo

Erika Jayne‘s legal drama will reportedly continue when cameras start rolling on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 12 (if they haven’t already).

After an 11th season jam-packed with allegations and questions about what Erika knew of her now-estranged husband Thomas Girardi‘s many alleged crimes against clients, including orphans and widows of plane crash victims, a report claims producers are planning to take advantage of the juicy storyline by starting production on the new episodes sooner than usual.

On October 8, production sources spoke to TMZ, saying that they simply can’t get enough of the ongoing drama surrounding Erika’s legal drama and feel that they need to begin production sooner, rather than later to avoid missing any key happenings in the many cases against her. In fact, they’re getting cameras ready several months earlier than normal.

While cameras were recently spotted at the birthday party of Kyle Richards‘ daughter, Portia Umansky, where several RHOBH cast members were seen as guests, TMZ’s insiders said filming will begin rolling next week with certain ladies of the show.

Over the past several months, Erika has been fighting back against a $25 million lawsuit filed against her by the trustee presiding over Thomas’ bankruptcy, who claims she fraudulently received transfers from Thomas’ now-defunct law firm. According to reports, the money allegedly given to Erika was believed to be settlement funds meant for clients.

While a cast announcement regarding RHOBH season 12 likely won’t be made for several months, Erika, Kyle, Lisa Rinna, Dorit Kemsley, Garcelle Beauvais, Sutton Stracke, and Crystal Kung-Minkoff are all expected to return, as is series “friend” Kathy Hilton, who recently confirmed interest on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

“Well we first have to see if I’m invited back,” she explained. “About two weeks after the reunion, we find out if we’re invited back. I mean, I would love to. I had really a lot of fun.”

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 11 reunion begins airing on Bravo next Wednesday, October 13, at 8/7c.

Donna D’Errico, 53, Looks Just Like She Did In Her ‘Baywatch’ Days While Out In Plunging White Top

‘Baywatch’ alum Donna D’Errico has stunned in a white crop top and knee-high black boots while stepping out for dinner with pals.

Donna D’Errico has barely aged a day since she burst onto the scene in the 1990s! The 53-year-old Baywatch alum became a household name when she slipped on the iconic red swimsuit, and is looking just as incredible as ever in 2021. She was most recently snapped heading out for a night on the town in Santa Monica on October 7. The blonde beauty was all smiles as she donned a low cut white crop top with long sleeves, a pair of light wash denim jeans, and knee high black boots.

She accessorized the ensemble with a small black handbag and a pair of delicate gold hoop earrings as she styled her platinum tresses in loose curls. It’s hard to believe Donna first shot to fame almost 30 years ago as a Playboy Playmate. She was a single mom to son Rhyan when she appeared in the magazine’s 1995 centerfold, and landed the role of Donna Marco on Baywatch the following year.

In 1996, she wed Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx and the couple welcomed a daughter named Frankie-Jean. As fans would recall, they met through her Baywatch co-star Pamela Anderson who was famously married to his bandmate, Tommy Lee at the time. Nikki and Donna later called it quits in 2006.

Earlier this year, Donna was seen rocking a white bikini, and served major Baywatch vibes. She opted for a white triangle style top and matching string bottoms, as she posed outdoors with a floral umbrella. Donna paired the barely-there swimsuit with a pair of towering nude pumps, and completed the look with a white kimono as she posed in her gorgeous Los Angeles backyard.

“I never knew umbrellas could be masterpieces! Look at this one I’m holding,” she captioned her April 22 post. Donna went on to shoutout the umbrella’s designer Mario Talarico, demonstrating how it opens in a later video. “The photos just don’t do it justice. It is exquisite. Handcrafted in Italy by master craftsman @mario_talarico_since_1860 I’m almost afraid to use it! Swipe for more pics,” she added.

Alleged Texas School Shooter Released On Bail, Family Claims It Was Self Defense

Alleged Texas School Shooter Released On Bail, Family Claims It Was Self Defense

The alleged Texas school shooter has been released on $75,000 bail as the family claims he was bullied, beaten, and stripped naked leading up to the incident.

Earlier this week, news broke that a school shooting occurred at Timberview high school in Arlington, Texas. Many thought the worst and assumed with the pandemic restrictions in Texas being non-existent, that we were back to tragedy striking our schools.

When the picture of the suspected shooter surfaced, many started to doubt the story that this was a standard-issue school shooter. The shooter left the school and while the building was evacuated, a manhunt ensued. The hunt ended when Timothy George Simpkins turned himself in alongside his lawyer.

Yesterday, he was released on a $75k bond and ordered to home confinement. His family and lawyer also shed light on how the situation occurred, with civil rights attorney Kim T. Cole speaking at length to the press.

“There are numerous school shootings that have occurred across this country which are tragic. All school shootings are tragic,” Cole said. “However, in this situation, this was not someone who was just out to go and shoot a school and had made up their mind [and said,] ‘You know hey I’m upset and I’m just going to shoot anyone I see.’”

“That was not the situation here. So I request the media correct their narrative with regard to what happened, and that you all respect the family’s privacy,” she continued.

Timothy was reportedly beaten, taunted, and harassed on a daily basis by bullies at school with no help from teachers. His father was recently killed after being beaten to death and he feared for his life that it would happen to him, too, according to the family in social media posts.

“Recently he was ambushed by a group of young males outside of school, stripped of his clothing in front of a crowd of onlookers, and robbed of his money and possessions. He has been humiliated and stripped of his dignity on more than one occasion which led to him being fearful to go to school or even leave our home without an adult.”

This is a sad situation that’s all too common in schools, but violence is never the answer as four people were hurt in the incident and a teacher who broke up the fight was shot in the back. The main student in the situation was shot four times and will need more surgeries in the future. The family of the victim has started a GoFundMe to help with the cost of upcoming surgeries.

“My aunt died from breast cancer and my grandmother died from cervical cancer and one of my aunts just died from lung cancer,” Blige said, according to The Source. “What happens is they end up in the hospital and there’s no one in our families speaking about it when we’re younger.

“I didn’t know about breast cancer or mammograms until I was 40 and I was in the music business and I was trying to take care of myself. My body started talking so I started listening. I found out about it at the GYN (gynecologist). They don’t discuss this when we’re children. They don’t say, ‘Go get a mammogram’. You learn about this as you get older.”

Mary said it’s “extremely important” to let women know, “that no matter how scary it is or who’s telling you it’s scary, take care of you. Take care of your health… I want to help women heal from breast cancer. I want to help us feel beautiful all the way around.”

Screening tests include clinical and self breast exams, mammograms, genetic testing, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Screenings help to detect breast cancer early in asymptomatic women to improve outcomes.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, regardless of race or ethnicity.

According to Breastcancer.org, about one in eight women in the U.S. (about 12.4 percent) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her life.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’: Addison’s Callback To Her Iconic Season 1 Moment Is Epic — Watch Promo

Published

on

Kate Walsh

Addison Montgomery is coming back to Grey-Sloan! In the preview of the Oct. 14 episode of ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ Addison makes a reference to the exact moment she made her grand entrance in Seattle.

Grey’s Anatomy is mixing things up and bringing back one of the show’s most beloved characters: Addison Montgomery. Kate Walsh makes her return in the October 14 episode, and she makes quite a statement when she meets the residents.

“I’m Dr. Addison Montgomery. And you must be the group that’s screwing up the program,” Addison says to the residents after Richard introduces her.

This is a direct callback to the very moment Addison showed up at Seattle Grace in the season 1 finale. In one of the most iconic scenes in TV history, Addison pops Derek and Meredith’s perfect little bubble of love.

When Addison introduces herself to Meredith as “Addison Shepherd,” Meredith is confused. “And you must be the woman who’s been screwing my husband,” Addison tells Meredith. Talk about a cliffhanger.

After that game-changing moment, Addison became a core part of Grey’s Anatomy. Derek and Addison tried to save their marriage, but it didn’t work. Addison eventually left Seattle to work at a private practice in Los Angeles. Addison’s spinoff, Private Practice, ran for 6 seasons on ABC.

In the promo, Addison gets right to work at Grey Sloan. During surgery, the AC goes out and Addison needs an extra set of experienced hands. “Get me Meredith Grey,” she tells Richard. Now this is going to be one epic reunion.

Addison’s return was first announced in September 2021. “Well, well, well — would you look who it is. That’s right my loves — Dr. Addison Montgomery is coming back to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, and I’m so excited to be home again,” Kate said in a video on Twitter.

Addison is not the only familiar face popping up in season 18. Kate Burton reprised her role as the late Ellis Grey in the premiere. Owen’s sister Megan Hunt, played by Abigail Spencer, is back for a recurring arc. Grey’s Anatomy season 18 airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
