The Power of Spaced Repetition to Remember What You Read

Published

on

In order to learn from a book, it is best to read through that book more than once. This is where speed reading will help tremendously. When first starting to read a book, look at the cover. Read what it says on the back of the book. Open up the book and read through the initial pages, then look through the table of contents. Flip through the pages, look at some pictures. Prepare the mind for what you are about to embark on. On your first reading, you can speed read, and don’t worry about understanding or remembering everything. It is like when you build a house. At first you lay the foundation with the cement, but you don’t expect to sleep there the first night.

On your second reading, have a notebook and pen or pencil to take notes. You may even want to highlight or underline if that is possible. You may not want to read as fast as the first time, and of course you want to stop and take notes. Don’t be too concerned with remembering everything right away. Through the power of spaced repetition, you will be able to remember and retain more each time you read through the book or your study notes. Reading a chapter two or three times in a row is a great way to remember much of what is being read. The more you read or hear something, the better chance you have of remembering it. Have you ever seen someone who looks familiar? You may have seen him once before. You may have seen him at the mall, or maybe even on television. This may be the second or third time you are seeing him. If you should see him again, he will definitely be familiar.

It is the same thing with reading. On the second reading, many things will look familiar, and you will remember some things. When you write your notes, it will strengthen the memory even more. Even if you never looked at your notes, just by writing it down on paper, it will make an impression in your mind and will help to remember it. By reviewing your notes between readings, you are strengthening the recollection. By your third reading, you will have a much better understanding of the material than the first time. The more you read and review, the stronger the memory becomes.

Many people wait until the last minute to read and study the night before a test. This is a tough way to learn. Each day, put a certain time aside for your study time. Thirty to forty-five minutes is usually a good time to focus and learn until you may want to take a break. Remember, they don’t build a house in a day, and you don’t become a great sports champion in a day.

Each time that you read or speed read, when you focus, study, and learn, you are developing your skills, as a reader and a speed reader. You are also helping to build a strong memory, as well as learning about the subject you are reading about. Use the power of spaced repetition to learn much more than you ever thought possible.

Low Level Druid Gear – Strength Vs Agility For Feral Builds

Published

on

By

When you start down the path of building out your Feral Druid the question of strength or agility comes up pretty fast. This simple question has sparked huge threads all over the web, hurt feelings, some crying and all in all a ton of discussion. As a relatively young Druid reading some of these threads and forum boards seem to require a Masters Degree in Advanced Mathematics. On top of that very often these are talking about very high level raiding and end game Druid builds which can be confusing as well. Here is a very simple break down of the two stats and how they compare. Consider this like a 101 course. You have more to learn but this will at least get you going.

Attempting to make decisions on stats can be maddening. As soon as you think you’ve got an answer you’ll find someone else saying something totally different. The first step is to simply try and get a feel for the numbers. Remember that you can always get different gear and you can always rebuild your talent trees. Experiment and see what works best for you and your playing style. Let’s take a look at the very basic definitions of these stats and how they affect your Druid.

Strength: The Strength attribute increases your Druids attack power on a scale of 1 strength equal to 2 attack power. For every 14 points of attack power you have your damage per second (DPS) for melee attacks increases by 1. For example if you have an attack power of 140 you’ll have an increase in DPS of 10. It might be easier to think of 1 point of strength being equal to .14 DPS.

Agility: This stat does a great deal for us. First of all when a Druid is in Cat form he gains 1 attack power for each point of Agility. Secondly 1 point of Agility increases your armor by 2 points. This attribute also jacks the critical hit chance with weapons and increases the chance of Dodge. Again, in a different expression, 1 point of agility is equal to .07 DPS.

So what should you gear your Feral Druid with? Looking just at attack power it would seem that loading up on strength is the way to go. The more attack power the more damage you’ll do, right? Well that is true however what do you give up by ignoring agility? You will miss out on the dodge for one. (Your dodge chance is just what it sounds like; it gives you the possibility of dodging a melee attack.)

The basic deal is that at lower levels the best investment you can make as a Feral Druid is in the Strength stat. The harder you hit at low levels, basically, the better off you are. This does not mean to completely ignore agility however. When the decision comes up for gear with strength or agility lean towards the strength boost. At some point, at much higher levels, the favor tips towards agility but don’t get too concerned about that just yet.

Is there more to discuss on this topic? Absolutely. This does not even scratch the surface of the issue but it should get you going in the right direction as a low level Feral Druid.

MapleStory Guide – Anego

Published

on

By

Anego (aka Female Boss) is a popular boss in Showa. It spawns in the third map of the Showa mansion, surrounded by its vastly weaker minions. It is a formidable foe, with very high attack power, defence and speed.

So let’s have a look at what Anego’s capable of. Anego has two main attacks plus a rather high touch damage of about 10,000-11,000, a fairly long range gun attack dealing around 5,200 and lastly, a short range slap dealing roughly 18,000. If you’re melee without a ridiculous amount of hp washing, then I know what you’re thinking. Some other things about Anego, it has very high defence and moves extremely quick.

So with such high damage how does anyone kill it? Luckily Anego suffers a “glitch” so to speak, which will be explained in detail below.

HP: 75,000,000

Minimum HP: 19,000 (Melee) Any (Ranged)

Now to talk about that “glitch”, if you attack Anego and run back to the portal, you’ll notice Anego is unable to follow all the way to the left. This is due to a pathing issue in the maps layout, near the edge of the bar stool is an invisible barrier for Anego, which it is unable to pass. Obviously that makes the entire left side a perfect sniping spot! Basically every single ranged class can make use of this and this is also the basis for party kills of Anego. The spot where you’ll want to stand is directly in front of the couch near the portal, if you edge past this you may be hit by Anego’s gun attack, but the slap will miss you by miles.

For melee it’s not so easy, the only viable way to fight Anego as a melee character is to corner it and tank it, burning potions while pounding away. Obviously you need 19,000hp before even considering this.

As a side note, it is possible to berserk Anego as a Dark Knight, but is difficult to do effectively. Lure Anego to the bar stools, and attack while jumping. If timed right you will not be hit by the slaps while still hitting Anego.

WoW Bot – InnerSpace Guide

Published

on

By

First off, I’d like to explain some terms. Innerspace is an operating system, not a bot. Many people will be peeved if you say that. Openbot is a program/plugin/whatever that runs on innerspace. Openbot is a bot. Get these down and you’ll save the openbot vets some hair.

Innespace is NOT free. And I did’t find a crack yet. Yes you will need to pay for it if you’d like to use it. It will cost you $10 for a 3-month subscription. This is cheaper than glider elite. If you’d like to subscribe to use this bot Lavishsoft.com register an account, and subscribe from there.

Once you have an account subscribed, you can start this guide.

-Setting up Software-

1. Download and install the latest version of Innerspace.

2. Download the latest version of ISXWoW and ISXWarden. Always keep these up to date!

Install ISXWoW by running the installer if you downloaded that, or if you downloaded the zip, extract ISXWoW.dll into the Extentions folder and the other files into your Interface folder.

Install ISXWarden by simply extracting the .dll to the Extensions directory of your Innerspace installation.

3. Launch innerspace, right click on the little crosshairs icon, and click configuration.

4. Click on the “Game Configuration” tab and select World of Warcraft from the dropdown menu. Click Startup.

-Ingame Openbot Setup-

1. Once Innerspace is loaded with WoW and you’ve checked ISXWarden to be okay, log ingame and bring down console again.

2. Type into console:

run openbot/openbot

This should load the ingame interface.

Going into the rest of the steps for Openbot Configuration takes a lot of detailed explanation. By way of a quick search, you would find that the full steps are available at most sites offering WoW Bot and other gaming tools.
