Harley Pasternak talked about ‘five habits’ he gives to celebrity clients to do ‘each day’ to help keep them in shape and more life-changing things, in an EXCLUSIVE interview with HL.
Harley Pasternak has worked as a trainer for all kinds of celebrities, including incredibly fit singer Jessica Simpson, 41, who lost a whopping 100 lbs., and actress Halle Berry, 55, and he’s revealing some of the workout and diet details he’s used to keep their bodies, including their long lean legs, strong and in shape. The fitness professional spoke to us from his West Hollywood gym while promoting Maple Hills Creamery’s new zero sugar organic milk.
“Number one, pick your parents very carefully! I don’t want to take credit for their genetics, a cheeky Harley EXCLUSIVELY told HollywoodLife when asked how he keeps clients like Jessica and Halle’s legs so toned. “I think that making sure we do more of the back, the inner/outer part of the leg than the front. You don’t want to be too quad dominant. You want to be walking, moving your body and constantly evolving the program. I think those are all pretty important. I’m a big fan of iso lateral leg movements, not bilateral. Everyone has a dominant side so I don’t do squats with clients. We’ll do stuff like lunges or reverse lunges or lateral lunges or walk lunges or step ups and we’ll train that body part no more than once a week.”
Harley also revealed that there are “five habits” he suggests to help keep his clients fit and at a healthy weight. “I can’t talk specifically about what any one client does, but the principles that I say in general to anybody who has seen what I do with clients is they have five habits that I give them to do each day,” he said. “The first is trying to get at least 12,000 steps a day. I think that is really, really important. You don’t have to sweat. You don’t have to huff and puff. You don’t have to go to a gym to do it or put on a special outfit, but it’s the aggregate to do your movement every single day.”
“It can be jumping, skipping, running or it can just be from walking,” he continued while revealing he gets in “about 14-15,000 steps” a day.
“The second is sleep. We’re supposed to be sleeping one third of our life and we’re sleeping less and worse than we ever have,” he added. “All the screen time that we’re getting and the caffeine and the alcohol and all these things affect our quality of sleep, more-so the technology, and so I try and tell my clients they need to sleep at least seven hours a night. They need at least an hour of deep sleep and an hour of rapid eye movement. That’s important because the impact of not getting enough sleep can actually make people gain weight. It effects a lot of hormones.”
“The third is unplugging from technology at least an hour a day, ideally the hour before bed. The blue light from our phones, the alerts we keep getting, they’re so heavily tied to our energy levels, carbohydrate craving, fat metabolism, so less screen time is good,” Harley further explained before talking about the final two habits. “The fourth is food. Three meals and two snacks a day and every meal is made up of protein, fiber and healthy fat. People get those from smoothies, salads, sandwiches, soups, sushis — all different kinds of things. That’s what the body reset diet is and that’s why I’ve been a big advocate for dairy for so many years because in one drink you’re able to get two proteins – casein and whey. You’re able to get calcium, vitamin D, potassium, and now you can do it without sugar.”
When it comes to females being either “petite” or “medium” or “non petite,” Harley never tries to “bulk” any of them up because most of the time, they don’t want to do that. “I never bulk people up. With my clients it’s four, five or six sets [of exercises] per body part, so we make sure the volume is never too high on any one body part that would create that,” he said. “I don’t let any of my female clients do chest flies or push ups or bench press or ever any of those because those can create the illusion of a thicker, stockier body. We hardly ever do biceps. We try not to do too much quads. We try to do a focus on the hamstrings, the glutes, the abductors, so all of the things that actually will pull the body back and give it the illusion of being a longer, leaner body. That’s what we focus on.”
Harley also pointed out that there is no “standard” amount of reps he does with his clients and it can change each day. “The rep and set range changes for everyone, but they may start out with 20 reps each and drop a rep a set each subsequent set and maybe go down to 14 reps and then that’s it,” he shared. “The workouts are 20, 25 minutes. The focus from fat burning comes from steps, so I give someone a step goal to do every single day, whether it be from walking, jogging, skipping, dancing, stairs. You don’t have to sweat. You don’t have to huff and puff at all, but just trying to hit 12,000 steps a day. Some of my clients 14.”
He then went into details about how important it is to eat right while doing these steps to make sure his clients are getting the best opportunity to change their bodies for the better. “If you do my five daily habits, you don’t have to do too much of any one of them,” he assured. “There’s a synergy that happens. If you’re not eating right, there’s no amount of exercise that can make up for that. If you’re not weight training, none of the other things are going to sculp, tone and tighten. And if you’re not doing the steps, then nothing’s not going to burn the body fat. It’s moderate and it’s sustainable. Half of my clients don’t live in the same city that I live in and I’m able to keep them in shape.”

Tristan Thompson is being sued for child support according to a new report from the DailyMail.
The UK publication obtained court documents filed by a 31-year-old woman named Maralee Nichols asking for child support for her baby boy, whose due date is December 3rd and could likely arrive any day now. According to her filing, the child was conceived in Houston this March while Thompson was in town celebrating his 30th birthday. While we could not find any social media birthday posts on Tristan’s Instagram page.
There was this sweet message Khloe posted along with a photo of herself with Tristan and their daughter True:
Pretty sure these are not the kind of memories Khloé was talking about.
Thompson is not denying he had sex with Nichols. The filing includes a declaration from the Sacramento Kings baller admitting he had sex with Nichols multiple times at a hotel following a party the two attended together. Thompson describes how Nichols drove them to the event in her Maserati, then afterwards returned to his hotel where she told him she had ‘a special birthday surprise’ for him. Thompson says he knew she was referring to sex.
“When we got to my hotel room, we immediately had sexual intercourse,” Thompson says in his declaration. “Petitioner [Nichols] initiated our sexual contact and never objected to our having sexual intercourse. She was very awake and conscious and did not exhibit any signs that she was other than a willing participant in our sexual activities.”
“We did not drink at my hotel room and Petitioner was not drunk. After we had sexual intercourse, Petitioner specifically asked me if she could spend the night because it was my ‘special birthday’ as she called it.”
“I told her I had to get up early in the morning but she said it would not be an issue for her. After we had sexual intercourse, we went to bed. We were both naked sleeping with one another. Before I left the hotel, we had sexual intercourse again in the morning.”
While Thompson claims that night was the only time he had sex with Nichols, her lawyers say the affair began at least five months before his birthday celebrations and that Nichols traveled to California multiple times to see Thompson, including after she got pregnant.
Nichols filed her paternity suit on June 30 in Los Angeles, after relocating there from Texas. She is asking for child support, reimbursement of medical expenses and pregnancy-related costs such as Lamaze classes, a doula, and prenatal vitamins as well as newborn clothing, formula, and diapers.
Thompson is asking that the case be moved to Texas, since Nichols was a resident of Texas at the time of conception. Thompson also accuses Nichols of ‘venue shopping’ and claims he never had sex with Nichols in California and wasn’t even aware she had moved there. He also says he’s never been a California resident and that his residence is in Massachusetts and his only license is a Massachusetts ID. Interestingly enough, Thompson mentions both of his other children and their mothers, noting that he maintains a residence in California because he’s only allowed to see his children there. He also makes a few mentions of ‘being hounded by the paparazzi’ and complains about how he was served with Nichols’ lawsuit claiming her legal team had been ‘lying in wait’ and ‘slipped through the gates’ of his Encino home in front of his children to hand over the documents. While he hasn’t denied he could have fathered Nichols’ son he is asking for a paternity test once the baby is born.
SMH. There is a whole lot of stretching being done to avoid paying the cost of California child support. Do you think Nichols is wrong to file in California? Is Tristan wrong for asking for a change in jurisdiction?
While Khloé hasn’t commented directly about the case, she did post a message to her story about not having energy for negativity.
Yikes… Listen, babies are a blessing, but this sounds really messy.
A pregnant personal trainer from Texas claims that Tristan Thompson is the father of her expected child, and in court docs, he admitted to sleeping with the 31-year-old.
Tristan Thompson, 30, is allegedly expanding his family. The NBA superstar is alleged to be expecting his third child with Maralee Nichols, a 31-year-old personal trainer from Texas, according to the Daily Mail. Maralee is currently pregnant with a baby boy, due Dec. 3, and she claims that Tristan is the father. In court documents, obtained by Daily Mail and filed in the Superior State of California, County of Los Angeles, Tristan admitted to sleeping with Maralee in March.
However, Tristan did not confirm whether he’s her baby’s father. “Petitioner does not know when conception took place and concedes that conception may have took place in March or April 2021,” Tristan claims. “I do not know if the claims that I am the father of her child are supported by facts.” Tristan also stated in the docs that he wants to take a paternity test in Houston, Texas, as well, as he insists that that is the only place he slept with Maralee. HollywoodLife has reached out to Tristan’s rep and lawyer for comment.
Photos of Maralee fully pregnant have been published by Daily Mail. Court documents, which were published by DM, also confirm that Marilyn and Tristan hooked up during his 30th birthday celebrations in Houston in March, at which point he was still dating Khloe Kardashian. Tristan admitted in the court docs to having sex with Maralee several times at a hotel following the party. However, he says this night was the only time he had relations with Maralee, despite her claims that they had a “five month affair,” which she claims took place in California, as well.
“When we got to my hotel room, we immediately had sexual intercourse,” Tristan said in the court filing, according to the docs obtained by DM. “Petitioner [Maralee] initiated our sexual contact and never objected to our having sexual intercourse. She was very awake and conscious and did not exhibit any signs that she was other than a willing participant in our sexual activities.”
In her court documents, Maralee is reportedly asking for child support, as well as reimbursement for expenses like a doula, birthing classes and more, from Tristan in the state of California, according to Daily Mail. However, in Tristan’s response, he is asking for the case to be moved from California to Texas. He insists that he does not have a permanent residence in California and that his “domicile residence” is in Massachusetts. He explains that his residence in California is strictly for the purpose of spending time with his two children, who live in the state. Tristan is already a father to son Prince, 4, whom he shares with ex Jordan Craig, 30, and daughter True, 3, whom he shares with on-again, off-again girlfriend Khloe.
The NBA star’s latest split from True’s mom Khloe came in June. Tristan and the Keeping Up with the Kardashians alum were actively co-parenting during the COVID-19 pandemic and had even made plans to have a second child via surrogacy. The final season of KUWTK documented the pair’s process of freezing embryos to prepare to expand their family.
During the KUWTK reunion in June, Khloe confirmed that she and Tristan were back together following his Jan. 2019 cheating scandal. “We just really became genuine, great friends with one another and great co-parents,” Khloe explained. “He’s a great dad. It was just this natural progression. I’m not saying it’s what I would encourage other people to do, it’s just what naturally happened for him and I.”
Just a day later, news broke that it was over between the pair following a new batch of cheating allegations, which were never confirmed by Khloe or Tristan themselves. However, when the reunion was taped, Khloe was unaware of the rumors. “Khloe was being honest about the status of their relationship at the time of the reunion taping,” a source told HollywoodLife exclusively. Khloe has yet to comment on the latest reported baby news, but HollywoodLife has reached out to her rep for comment.

“Davion is a timeless artist,” said Lena Waithe. “He isn’t afraid to be vulnerable in his music. And that’s why he stood out to myself, Albert, and Tebs as an artist we wanted to sign. He’s been a fantastic collaborator and we can’t for everyone to hear what we’ve been cooking up.”
“Sometimes is for those of us who give our best and still get knocked down. It’s a reminder that we’re not alone,” said Davion Farris. “This song is about strength in vulnerability. It’s OK to acknowledge that in certain moments, you’re not OK.”
However, fans say “Sometimes” is an ode to the new Black male who is in touch with his feelings and finds strength through weakness.
Here is what the press is saying about “Sometimes”:
