An essay, which is based on the creative approach of a person to the disclosure of the problem posed in the original text, must be supported by arguments and facts.

Today, essay writing has become a very common way of presenting the author’s point of view due to the miniature content with the possibility of maximum self-expression. Essays are written by school graduates, applicants for creative exams, applicants for a position when applying for a job, and participants in various competitions.

For many students, writing assignments becomes a real challenge. That’s why they are looking for all kinds of help. They install on their phones different applications that help edit the text. I know firsthand the question of every student who can write my research paper for me for a low fee. I recommend seeking help from writing experts.

Conventionally, all essay types can be divided into two large groups:

1. Personal essays, wherein the foreground is the disclosure of some aspect of the personality of the author (such essays are often written for entrance exams or employment);

2. Objective or “serious” essays where the personal element is subordinated to the subject of description (serious authors discuss serious philosophical problems).

The task of an essay, unlike a story, is to convey ideas, to explain, to convince, rather than to depict or retell some life situation. An essay differs from a traditional essay in that a literary essay should be dominated by a rational combination of analysis of a work of fiction with your reasoning, while an essay clearly expresses the author’s position.

Essays are also designed to test your writing skills and ability to put ideas on paper.

Essay classification

Before we tell you how to write an essay, let’s look at the main types of essays and their features.

In terms of content, essays are:

  • philosophical,
  • literary-critical,
  • historical,
  • fiction,
  • fiction-publicistic,
  • spiritual and religious, etc.

According to the literary form, a distinction is made between essays:

  • letters, etc.

It is also customary to distinguish between essays:

  • descriptive,
  • narrative,
  • reflective,
  • critical,
  • analytical essays, etc.

Since essay writing is a common and even fashionable trend today, it is necessary to learn how to write them.

How to write an essay

1. “Swarm” your thoughts (select information on a given topic). Read the topic and think about it. Think about what is catching you in the topic, try to dwell on what is interesting to you, use your life experience, and try to bring your vision of the problem. Having highlighted the problem, begin writing the essay.

2. The essay by its structure should consist of three parts: the introduction and the main part (provide arguments that confirm or refute the vision of the problem). The conclusion (conclude) In the introduction you should state the essence of the problem, and present one or two theses that require proof.

In student essays, of course, it is preferable to stop at one thesis that requires confirmation or refutation. The main part is the most important part of the essay. Here you should either agree or disagree with the author’s opinion. In this part, use as many words as possible, for example: in my opinion; I believe that; I agree, disagree with the author that…

Use other literary sources or TV shows you’ve bothered to watch on TV to do this. Perhaps you will draw on your own experience. The most important thing here is to defend your point of view. Using colloquial speech is possible, but parasitic words and slang are unacceptable.

Since an essay is an artistic essay expression, it will be a plus if you ask rhetorical questions. The conclusion is no less important part of the essay. In the conclusion, you need to come to certain conclusions that will follow the main part. The main requirement for the conclusion: it must not be purely formal. The teacher (examiner) reading the essay should not doubt its necessity. The conclusion should be organically connected with the previous statement.

Do not forget to check the essay. When checking the essay, ask yourself the questions: Did I answer the question posed? How clearly and accurately did I express my thoughts? Is my essay easy to read? Check for mistakes.

Peculiarities of the essay genre

It is possible to identify some general features (peculiarities) of the essay genre, which are usually listed in encyclopedias and dictionaries:

1. A small volume. There are, of course, no hard limits, but it is usually stipulated from 2 to 5 pages of printed text.

2. Specific topic. The topic of an essay is always specific. An essay cannot contain many topics or ideas (thoughts). It reflects only one option, one thought. And develops it. It is an answer to one question.

3. Free composition is an important feature of an essay. Researchers note that the essay by its nature is arranged in such a way that it does not tolerate any formal frameworks. It is often guided by the principle of “Everything in reverse.”

4. Informality of narration The author of the essay needs to establish a trusting style of communication with the reader; in order to be understood, he avoids deliberately complex, unclear, overly strict constructions.

5. Tendency to paradoxes The essay is designed to surprise the reader (listener) this, according to many researchers, is its mandatory quality. The starting point for the reflections embodied in the essay often becomes an aphoristic, vivid statement or paradoxical definition, colliding, seemingly indisputable, but mutually exclusive statements, characteristics, theses.

6. At the same time, it is necessary to avoid using slang, formulaic phrases, abbreviated words, and an overly frivolous tone in an essay. The language used when writing an essay should be taken seriously.

So, when writing an essay, it is important to define (grasp) its topic and determine the desired length and purpose of each paragraph. Start with the main idea or a vivid phrase. The goal is to grab the reader’s (listener’s) attention immediately. Comparative allegory is often used here, when an unexpected fact or event is linked to the main topic of the essay.

Essay writing mistakes

Unlike tests, essay writing is not limited in time, you can rewrite it many times and ask your friends to read your essay.

Take every opportunity and try to avoid common mistakes:

1. Bad checking. Reread your essay and make sure there are no mistakes. Ambiguous expressions, unfortunate turns, etc.

2. Tiresome prefaces. Lack of detail Too often an interesting essay loses out in being a listing of statements without illustrating them with examples. If you are afraid of making a lot of mistakes in your essay, you can find cheap services on Reddit that will help you edit your assignment.

3. Versatility. You have covered the topic well while keeping it to a small number of words. You need to manage the length of your essay well. You should be able to drop some ideas or details, especially if they have already been mentioned somewhere or are not directly relevant.

4. Long phrases. It is best when long phrases alternate with short ones in an essay. Try reading the essay out loud. If you feel that you are taking your breath away, break up the paragraph into smaller paragraphs.
