Small Business Owners: Low Cost Marketing Strategies to Increase Profits

Avatar Of Rajesh Khanna

Have you ever wondered if you could think of a marketing idea that can propel your business to sky. Like, Wendy’s commercial in the 1980’s ‘Where’s the beef’, Coke ad about it being the ‘The Real Thing’ and Nike selling tennis shoes by spreading the word of ‘Just Do It’. How ingenuous of those companies.

When people think of marketing they tend to think of advertising which can be expensive, ineffective image-based advertising. There are many ways to position yourself as an expert and build a personal connection to attract new clients, customers and patients.

Effective marketing is not cheap; however, there are strategies you can implement for little or no cost.

A basic low-cost way to do market research is to get a poster and put a picture of your ideal customer on, then list your prospective customer fears & frustrations, then list your customer’s wants and aspirations. Then focus on the emotional event that caused it and the irrational dream behind it, this is where the power and leverage is to resolve the customer problem with your product.

Develop a customer persona profile identifying where the customer get there information like magazines, websites and key people they follow blogging. Find out what ‘watering holes/bars’ they frequent, neighborhood live in, university attended, hobbies, favorite tv shows watched, associations, and church they attend. Use websites and question your target audience to gather this information.

Ideally, a small business owner should spend around 35 – 50% of their time marketing their product. To avoid giving marketing of your products the short shrift. Draft a schedule of marketing outreach events for 6 – 12 months. Identify marketing opportunities, what methods you will use and when you will take action. With a schedule drafted in advance, opportunities will not sneak up on you while you’re busy paying attention to other aspects of your business.

If you have a marketing department to support your business make sure it looks like the customers you are serving. The power of hiring people from many different cultures, products and industries to come together and create products for your consumers is powerful. The depth of ideas, understandings, insights, creativity and the blending of cultures can bring out the best solutions for your business to make more money is awesome.

Below is a list of 10 low cost strategies that can help you improve your profits.

1- Join your areas Chamber of Commerce and participate in community service events. Get involved in your community by volunteering, donating to and/or sponsor local events. It gives you the opportunity to network with other business owners and maybe cross promote with other local. These monthly meetings let you know what going on economically in your area.

2- Social Media: the ability to provide information about your products all over the web.

  • Share what you do and what merchants you love. Completed a new project, offering a new product, and have a customer testimonial.

  • Offer tips, advice, and information on your website. Show customers how to repair, modify, or improve your products. Provide product usage tips. The more customers enjoy your products, the more likely they are to buy. If you sell services, a question-answer column is a valuable addition to websites, as are “Frequently Asked Questions” pages addressing simple subjects related to your services. A bit of free advice will encourage clients to come to you with thornier problems

  • Write about it on Twitter, website, Facebook, LinkedIn or on a industry blog. Photos and videos helps others to understand who you are, what you do and how it can help them solve a problem.

  • Include your website link on all company emails and other correspondence. Display your company or business web address prominently in your email signature. Do the same on stationery.

  • a. Develop an elevator pitch story to inform others about your business. Your story should contain the following elements.

  1. Who you are

  2. What you do

  3. Why your different from your competitors

  4. Why should they care about your products or service (what’s in it for them)

  • Does your message create an emotional response from your target audience demographics. Hint, use plain English in creating your message

Example: We help to make your life easier by (explain your product or service).

4- Develop a simple marketing plan for your business

There are (4) secrets to marketing commitment, investment, communicate, consistency. It’s difficult to maintain all (4) four without some basic plan.

  • Make sure your plan describes how well the product or service meet the customers need or problem?

  • Make sure your logo and marketing message use words that paint a picture of an experience using your product that creates an imagination in the customer that generate a profit (that makes them want to buy your product or service).

  • It could consist of ordering business cards, attending networking opportunities, book speaking engagements and submit press releases about your product offerings.

  • Create an email signature, with web links to your business website and Twitter link. Also, include your company name, most current achievement, telephone number and email address and tag line if your company has one.

5- Put together a list of previous customers and send them new information and promotional offers to reactivate some of them.

  • Reward loyal customers with discounts. It will keep them coming back and help generate referrals. Good referrals from satisfied customers is often more effective than expensive advertising.

  • Use social media, to offer SMS marketing (texting) to provide existing customers with new information about ‘must have’ discounted or liquidating items.

Improve Customer Service

Customer Service is a form of advertising. You’re advertising that you care, that gets noticed

Use your vehicle

Vehicle Graphics are seen by thousands of people each day. Turn your vehicle into a mobile billboard.

6- Offer free public seminars or workshops to general public to come and find out how you can solve a problem for them and show them how approachable and helpful you are.

Rule of Thumb:

Your target customers need to hear your marketing messages at least 7 times to influence buying decisions. Example, you can craft your message a public service radio announcement to get it played for free on the radio stations and small internet radio stations

Get a Piggy Back

Hitching a ride on the marketing of another company can save your small business time and money.

Example: Locating near a Wal-Mart to be near price conscious consumers on a low budget.

7- Stimulate Customer Senses

  • Talk to your customers about how they feel about your product and store experience, why they buy from you versus other stores, they will be honest with you.

  • Continually educate your customers about the benefits of buying your products from you.

  • The more comfortable we keep our customers, the longer they’ll stay, the more memorable experience they’ll have and the more they’ll spend or pass on positive word-of-mouth.

Example:

Do you think the smell of fresh baking bread flowing throughout the grocery store or music is playing by choice? (duh)

Retail businesses have been going out of their way for years to stimulate shoppers and keep them browsing scented bathroom spray works better than disinfectant.

8- Make Yourself Newsworthy

Get a mention of your company in the right media

  1. For doing a good deed in the community or a humorous tie-in with a sports event

  2. Develop a relationship with your industry trade publications (magazines) they are always looking for ‘free relevant content’, write and article for them. It can help you to appear as an ‘expert’ to others in your industry.

  3. Make contacts with local media. Newspaper and television reporters need reputable sources for articles; while you may not make “news,” you can provide color to a story. For example, if you are a lawyer, you may be able to explain how new legislation will affect local viewers. Get in as many reporter’s contact lists as possible.

9- Form a joint venture

  • Forging an alliance with a group of small companies or big company, give you ‘biggest bang for the buck’. Lowering your costs to enter new markets and create new distribution opportunities.

  • Make offers to other businesses that serve people in your target markets to pay them for referrals or sharing their list with you

  • Support Fundraisers

  1. Donating your products or services to select charitable events is a great way to get your name out into the community. Be sure your target market will be attending and that your brand will be well represented.

10- Under Your Nose

  • Are your vendors doing business with you? No, call them and everyone you do business with. If your product is not a current match to there needs, he or she probably knows someone who should be doing business with you. At minimum, ask to display your business cards and flyers at their office. Oops, I forgot, take a moment and make sure people in your immediate personal circle understand what you are selling.

Get out and walk

1. Look for underutilized store front windows in high foot traffic areas. Approach the owner and offer to pay a small fee to advertise your business in their window or reverse it, and do the some for a fellow business owner.

2. Scan your friends social media sites Facebook, Pinterest, etc. Ask them to send out a advertisement on the friends page about your business. Ask a friend if you can place an ad on his business website.

3. Put flyers, catalogs, or brochures in every order. Make it easy for customers to buy from you. Don’t assume a particular customer knows all the services you provide.

It can take a lifetime to build a business reputation, but 20 seconds to tear it down with the wrong message in your marketing campaign or an employee doing that reflects badly on your business. You, small business owner are the ‘gatekeeper’ of the image of the company you are trying to build. Monitor all communications that is released to the press about your business, you and someone else review all media coverage and commercials about your business image, to make sure it is consistent with what your business is all about. Most importantly, be honest in all communications, dishonesty can boomerang on you in a nightmarish way.

Finally, marketing is about making the customer aware of your product and building a trusting relationship with the customer, and hopefully grow with the customer needs, as they expand.

Easy profits in your pocket!

We all know about SEO and how important SEO services are for online business as well now for any business. Every organisation is always in need for highly professional SEO service provider. What sort of target should be achieving in time line? They put these all questions in paper and derive the right SEO campaign for customer. Here I am focusing on writing about local SEO and how Google’s new updated search result will affect on SEO companies and business organisation. How it should be perform in this New Year. As of being SEO consultant in England and Scotland, I have seen growth of online business in developing cities like Aberdeen, Sheffield, and Leeds etc. Aberdeen is one of the growing cities in UK and I was fortunate to deal with some of the local SEO service provider company in Aberdeen. Local SEO is become more important because of Google new result sets. Google map listings have taken place of the results. Now in Google only 5-6 organic results are coming in first page. That is why local business is having more focus on Google map listing. I have gathered some of the points from my last visit to one SEO Company of Aberdeen.

  • Get more backlinks from Country level domain (such as Co.uk)
  • Get more backlinks from Domain where city name is in url (city-name-co.uk or xyz.co.uk/city/)
  • Add Address in business information while posting blog or article
  • Try to get more reviews in local websites.
  • Publish press release in Local publishing sites.
  • Use Geo tagging

These all I have found with a fruitful discussion about how local SEO will perform in UK.

Best Time Saving System For Creating Information Products

Avatar Of Rajesh Khanna

I’ve been interviewing experts for five years and have found through my work that doing a simple audio interview is the best way to make an information product.

A good interview is just me talking on the phone with an expert, asking questions.

Many of these questions have already been written out for me so I never have to dream them up. It’s simple. All I am is the guy asking the expert good questions that I want to know the answers to. I am not the one with the expertise, instead, I ask the expert what he knows. These answers are also ones that the public would want to know too.

If you want to create real magic, you’ll want to record the interview and have the interview transcribed. Then you will have a digital audio interview that you can sell and use to promote your information product. This interview can be streamed as audio, and the transcript can be read as well.

Your interview writes itself for you by the natural progression of conversational questions and answers communication.

This simple method is how I’ve been able to create dozens of information products.

I am just the guy asking the questions and compiling these answers into audio interviews into ultimately information products.

You can do this too. Record an interview with you and an expert, having a conversation while asking questions you want to know the answers to. It’s probably the simplest way known to man for creating an information product that can sell for hundreds of dollars.

Good Habits Support Good Results

Avatar Of Rajesh Khanna

Are you perhaps feeling that now’s the time to improve your health and your life? Good habits are often crucial to achieving good results and a positive outcome.

You may be looking to lose weight, become fitter, more successful, are motivated to do well at work or feel it’s time to extend your circle of friends; all require sustained effort to continue beyond the first few enthusiastic days.

Let good habits support good results

– The first thing to appreciate about good habits is that they must have a real resonance for you. If you’re not especially bothered about being slimmer, fitter or more successful, then that lack of enthusiasm won’t sustain you through cold dark evenings or on the tough days when your will power starts to waver. Having friends or family who are pushing you to ‘improve’ only increases your stress levels, resentment and maybe even feelings of low self-esteem. Pick good habits that feel right for you.

– Small steps are a positive way to move towards your bigger goals. Stepping-stones can help to prevent you from feeling overwhelmed at having to tackle everything all at once. Recognise each milestone you achieve; give yourself credit for enrolling in that class, not eating that cake, declining that alcoholic drink. Each decision takes you nearer to those good results.

– Stay focused, but also appreciate that sometimes other options may appear which can add value to your life. Don’t allow yourself to become too distracted from your agreed good habits but equally be ready for great opportunities that may come along. Ring-fence the time, money or mental energy you expend on distractions. Allow yourself to make the most of them and enjoy what they bring to your life, but don’t let them take you away from the big picture and your ultimate goal.

– Being accountable to others can be a great motivator. Having to check in regularly and report on your progress ensures that you keep your eye on each stage of the journey. Knowing that you’ve a regular date in the diary can quickly push temptations out of your mind.

– Joining a group and working together on shared goals can provide a good support network. Exchanging tips, advice and motivational stories can give a real boost on those tired, unenthusiastic days. And if we know our attendance is important to the group’s survival it can inspire us to continue going. Being a group member, even when it’s online, can encourage us to stick with our good habits. The downside though is that if one or two members lose their enthusiasm it can demotivate the rest.

– Sometimes paying upfront to join a club or gym pushes people to go regularly, whilst others lose interest and go only a couple of times even after paying out all that money. For me, I’ve committed to a weekly delivery of locally grown organic vegetables. It’s inspired me to eat at least one item from the box every day and it’s good to cook from scratch, eat fresh organic meals, shop local and sometimes try new things that I’ve never cooked before. Having it arrive every week means there’s no excuse to slack off from eating this healthy veg, and it’s a habit I’m pleased to maintain.

– Be aware of your vulnerable areas and put steps in place to mitigate them. So, for example, if you know that you find reasons to justify stopping at the petrol station, off licence or supermarket every day, where you then ‘accidentally’ buy chocolates, wine, cigarettes or scratch cards, intercept those times and don’t go. Instead, shop online or make a list and shop once a week. Don’t put yourself in temptation’s way.

– Using the services of a professional coach or therapist may be worth considering if you feel there are specific issues which are holding you back and which need to be addressed. Regular sessions could help you move on, introduce a positive mindset, manage stress and determine to treat yourself better.

Be gentle with yourself. It can take 2-6 months for a new habit to become your automatic default. If you experience slip ups, bad days and ‘can’t be bothered’s be kind to yourself and let them go. Remind yourself of all the good reasons you have to persist and start again, knowing that by sticking with your good habits you’ll ultimately support good results and outcomes.

Cranberry Juice With Acid-Reducing Drugs – Reduce Nutrient Depletion From GERD and Heartburn Drugs

Avatar Of Rajesh Khanna

Published

on

Cranberry Juice is commonly known to help with decreasing the frequency and/or severity of Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) and other urinary troubles including kidney stones. One of the chief causes of UTIs is the presence of the bacterium E. coli which adheres to the cell walls of the bladder and urinary tract, thus causing an infection. Cranberry Juice keeps bacteria from sticking to the walls, thus decreasing the likelihood that an infection will result. It also increases the pH of the urine; bacteria that cause UTIs have trouble growing in an acidic environment.

E. coli is often in the news as being the contaminant of recalled food, or being in lakes or other bodies of water where it is suggested people avoid swimming. E. coli is a natural “component” in the feces/stool of mammals-humans too. E. coli helps food break down to release its nutrients for use. It also makes Vitamin K which is essential for blood clotting abilities. Without E. coli in the intestines, a person would bleed to death because Vitamin K is needed to make blood clotting factors.

E. coli bacteria become a problem when there is too much of it, or if it is found in places outside of the intestines and colon. Therefore, food eaten that is contaminated with E. coli causes illness. Often the E. coli that enters the urinary tract comes from the feces of the person who develops the UTI.

Aside from being effective against E. coli, this remarkable Juice has also been found to inhibit the growth of mold and yeast as well, which can also cause bladder infections.

Cranberry Juice has also shown to be a powerful antioxidant as well as anti-inflammatory agent. Due to its high mineral and vitamin content, it has been used repeatedly to assist with asthma and other respiratory ailments, cancer, various inflammatory conditions, and even to protect the skin against the damages from UV (ultraviolet) radiation and the sun (Cohen, 2011).

But recently (Cohen, 2011), it was discovered that Cranberry Juice will reduce the amount of nutrient depletion caused by the acid-reducing drugs H2 Blockers and Proton Pump Inhibitors:

>cimetidine (Tagamet®)

>esomeprazole (Nexium®)

>famotidine (Pepcid®)

>lansoprazole (Prevacid®)

>nizatidine (Axid®)

>omeprazole (Prilosec®)

>pantoprazole (Protonix®)

>rabeprazole (Aciphex®)

>ranitidine (Zantac®)

H2 Blockers and Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs) are often prescribed for the treatment of Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), heartburn, sour stomach and virtually any other symptom that affects the stomach including nausea. It has also been prescribed for heart palpitations when no heart pathology has been found.

In 2010, the drug esomeprazole (Nexium®) was the number 2 prescribed drug in the United States (and number one for income for all drugs prescribed in the same year)-25,872 prescriptions were written for this one GERD drug alone. The cholesterol-lowering drug Lipitor® was #1 with 37,523 prescriptions (Drugs, 2011).

Nutrient Depletion by Medical Drugs

All medical drugs deplete vital nutrients from the body, although no one drug depletes them all. Depletion occurs either because the medical drug binds to the nutrient then they both get flushed together, or through a secondary action-the drug interferes with the absorption of the nutrient, so the body’s stores are not revitalized, thus causing a deficiency as the nutrients are used without being replaced in the diet or through supplementation.

Since H2 Blockers and PPIs work in the stomach to reduce the production of acid, most nutrients in the diet are not processed as they should be, thus they do not get absorbed by the body for use.

H2 Blockers and PPIs interfere with the absorption of most of the water-soluble vitamins (the B-Vitamins, Vitamin C, etc.) as well as minerals that require a high degree of stomach acid to convert them into a usable form (such as potassium, magnesium and calcium).

How Can Cranberry Juice Help Prevent Nutrient Depletion by These Drugs?

Cranberry is an acidic substance. Drinking Cranberry Juice with meals helps the nutrients to be absorbed that would otherwise be blocked by the drugs. Cranberries are also a rich source of many nutrients, especially those that are blocked by the H2 Blockers and PPIs, as well as Quercetin which helps decrease inflammation; a side effect common of acid-blocking drugs is inflammation of the lining of the stomach.

Safety Note

Cranberry is in the Ericaceae botanical family. If you have an allergy or sensitivity to any other member of this family, you might also have a reaction to Cranberry. Other medicinal members are bearberries, blueberries, bilberries, mayflower, uva ursi and wintergreen.

Do not eat or drink Cranberries if you are sensitive to any member of this family.

Sports Betting Tips – Sports Betting Tips to Boost Your Winning Rate Part 3

Avatar Of Rajesh Khanna

Published

on

This may come as a surprise and might seem trivial to you or the most ridiculous sports betting tip ever. I, however, think that this could a decisive aspect of winning or losing sometimes. Never do the betting under influence is the next tip I am going to share with you. How could this be a sports betting tip? You ask.

Let’s journey to Las Vegas or Monaco, perhaps Macao. Do you know why they supply their customers with free drinks, I mean alcoholic drinks? They are not as generous as you think; they are not offering a good customer service as well. They have another purpose namely to cloud you judgment.

When you have too many drinks, it is in your best interest that you better stay away from your computer, in your case it could be a temptation to betting. I believe you do not drink at home while you are going to do online betting. Influence in this case is not limited at that level. Influence means a factor that makes you judge emotionally. A quarrel with your spouse, girl/boyfriend, parents, or anyone can as well be considered as under influence. It depends on how good you take it; retuning to a calm state of mind.

Stay away from betting for your favorite team. As a fanatic fan you are likely to support your team by betting on it. Well, if you could really separate two things, being a fan and being a bettor, then you may allow yourself to bet on the games, in which your favorite team plays.

This seems easy to achieve, but when you are under influence, sometimes you don’t really know what you are actually doing. Now you are wondering how could this be one of sports betting tips after reading it, aren’t you?

I bet you’ll nod your head when you refreshed your past and identified the lost you had because of betting under influence. Anyway, stay tuned for my next part, in which I will cover about research before betting.

Who Needs A Public Relations Specialist?

Avatar Of Rajesh Khanna

Published

on

An organization’s reputation, branding, profitability, growth, and future success depend on how effectively they reach and motivate their targeted audiences. Public relations specialists are communication and media professionals acting as advocates for businesses, hospitals, medical professionals, corporations, universities, nonprofit associations and other organizations. Their specialty is building and promoting positive relationships with targeted audiences for their client’s.

Entrepreneurs, professional service providers, small business owners and business managers are increasingly looking to Public Relations Specialists for assistance with strategic planning.

What does a Public Relations Specialist do?

PR Professionals or firms handling publicity for individuals or small organizations often deal with all aspects of the job. They are in involved in making and maintaining contacts and relationships, strategizing and planning, and preparation of promotional materials. They either manage or are directly involved in advertising or sales promotional work in support of marketing.

Depending on the organization’s needs, PR Specialists are involved with the following:

  • Media relations
  • Press Releases
  • Press Conferences
  • Speaking Engagements
  • Media Tours
  • Marketing
  • Advertising
  • Interview Preparation and Coaching
  • Governmental Relations
  • Employee Relations
  • Investor Relations
  • Reputation Management
  • Crisis Management & Communications

The Public Relations Process

There are a number of widely accepted “Public Relations Process Models”. One of the more popular is the process model by Sheila C. Crifasi (2000) which uses the acronym “ROSIE” to define a five-step process of “Research, Objectives, Strategies, Implementation and Evaluation.”

As with just about any professional service, the project starts with some due-diligence and analysis. Objectives are defined along with the strategies to achieve those goals. Media tools are selected and prepared at this stage. Implementation includes materials preparation and release. Program success or failure is determined in the Evaluation stage.

In recent years the Internet has greatly contributed to the selection and accessibility of media tools with real time feedback. These tools are highly prized by marketing and public relations professionals because they provide immediate information on a program’s effectiveness.

The principal instrument for most publicity campaigns is the “press release”, which provides the mass media with the raw material and background for a news story. There are several on-line Press Release Agencies with targeted syndicated feeds to thousands of journalists world wide, such as PRWeb (www.prweb.com). The better on-line Press Agents provide the original publicist with continual “real time” feedback, including how many journalists have read the News Release.

The client organization’s website statistics is another valuable online analytical tool is. Most website hosting companies provide options for access to a detailed statistical tool such as WebTrends (www.webtrends.com). Statistics are updated on a daily basis allowing trends to be spotted at the beginning of a publicity campaign. This near real time feedback helps provide the necessary information required by professionals to effectively manage a campaign while maximizing impact and ROI (Return on Investment).

Another popular publicity tool is “article submission”. As with the Press Release, there are also good sources for targeted and syndicated Article Submission on the Internet such as GoArticles (www.goarticles.com). These articles are often picked up by other websites generating valuable links and targeted traffic to a client’s website.

Selecting a Public Relations Firm

When choosing a PR Firm an organization is selecting the professionals who will be molding its image for clients and customers, the public and for the media. Image is reality in many societies, this decision can have far-reaching effects.

Here are some suggestions on how to select a PR Firm:

1. Determine your most important PR needs. For Example; Are you launching a new product or service? Are you in a crisis management situation? Do you need to establish a relationship with investors?

2. Determine how long you will need the PR services if possible. Is it a long term or even permanent goal such as establishing and maintaining a relationship with investors, or is it a short term project such as promoting a break-through surgical procedure? Remember most PR Firms will ask for at least a 6 month commitment in order to become established and demonstrate affectivity.

3. Research PR Firms. Ask colleagues and business acquaintances? O’Dwyer’s Directory is a good Internet resource. If you are looking for someone local, specify the geographical region in your Internet search. Many PR Firms and Individuals specialize. When doing Internet research on PR Firms, some may have “Case Studies” which reveal details about strategic successes.

4. Conduct phone interviews with the person who would be handling the account if you were to select that agency. Strongly consider similar experience and personal or corporate compatibility throughout the phone and in face to face interviews.

5. Ask for and check references. Most PR Firms have an on-line presence which usually sports a client list. New or Small Firms will often be less expensive than larger firms have more resources to throw at a large project with time constraints. Smaller firms tend to specialize and may know your business very well.

6. Conduct meetings with the prospective candidates and present your program requirements. Look for genuine interest and healthy idea generation. Larger Firms may send an account representative to a meeting. Ask to meet with the PR specialist who will actually be doing the work, especially if long term compatibility is important.

The Escalating Demand for Corporate Accountability

The need for professional public relations in an increasingly competitive business environment is igniting demand for Public Relations Specialists by businesses, organizations and institutions of all sizes. The value of a company is measured by its balance sheet, but continued success is determined by the quality of its public visibility.

The escalating public, investor and governmental demand for corporate accountability will continue to place emphasis on building public confidence and favorable client image, which are best managed by Public Relations Professionals.
