Jorginho Played With Kalidou Koulibaly At Napoli And Believes The Chelsea Defender Will Finally Win The Trophies He Deserves

KALIDOU KOULIBALY has yet to show the silverware for his impressive career.

And Chelsea midfielder Jorginho believes the club’s new man is finally in the right place to add some glamor to the meager of trophy cabinets.

The Blues signed Senegalese defender Koulibaly from Napoli for £35million last week and he was due to make his debut against Arsenal in Orlando on Sunday.

A former team-mate of Jorginho at Napoli, the 31-year-old has earned nicknames like ‘The Wall’ for his reputation on defence.

However, club trophies have been few and far between.

The only ones he has won are the Belgian Cup with Genk in 2013 and a Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana with Napoli in 2020 and 2014 respectively.

Jorginho has meanwhile – since arriving in west London in 2018 – won the Champions League, Europa League, Super Cup and Club World Cup.

And after reuniting with his old pal, Jorginho says Koulibaly deserved to enjoy the same winning rush at Chelsea.

Asked if he deserves to win trophies at the club to make up for lost time, Jorginho said: “Oh definitely, because of his personality he deserves the best of everything.

“When I saw him winning trophies I was so, so happy for him. He’s such a nice guy and brings a lot to this club.

“He’s an experienced player, not just on the pitch. You’ll see he’s a brilliant defender, strong, fast, he plays with the ball.

“But as a guy, as a person in the dressing room, he’s just amazing.”

Koulibaly had been linked with a move to Chelsea for years before finally signing a four-year deal with them last week.

Boss Thomas Tuchel and compatriot Edouard Mendy played an active role in selling the idea of the blues.

Jorginho admitted trying to get the move over the line too and when asked when he started selling the racquet to his pal he added: ‘Last year! It was a lot.

“We used to say, just for fun, ‘Let’s play together again, let’s play together again.’ But it never happened, and when we saw that it might not be a joke anymore, we started to take it more seriously.

“I pushed! I said, ‘Come on, come to Chelsea’. And he said, ‘Oh yeah, I’d like that’. I said, ‘Just come’ because we haven’t shared a dressing room for a long time. “

Koulibaly is expected to wear number 26, the shirt number previously worn by legendary captain John Terry.

Jorginho added: “He will learn more about this number over time. He’s respectful but I hope the number brings him luck.”

Cause Of Anne Heche'S Death Revealed By Los Angeles County Coroner

LOS ANGELES– Anne Heche’s death has been ruled an accident, caused primarily by smoke inhalation and fire after she was involved in a fiery car accident on August 5, the Los Angeles County coroner has determined. .

The county released Heche’s official cause of death on Wednesday, classifying it as “inhalation and thermal injuries,” while noting that she suffered a fractured sternum from blunt force trauma.

Heche’s date of death was August 11, when she was considered brain dead. His body was kept on life support until August 14, after a recipient for organ donation was found.

Heche’s Mini Cooper was traveling at high speed in the Mar Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles on August 5 when it apparently lost control, crashing into a house. The car slammed into the walls of the house, narrowly missing a resident inside and her pets, then burst into flames.

She was initially hospitalized in critical condition with a severe brain injury and fell into a coma after the accident.

The Los Angeles Police Department later said Heche had narcotics in his system at the time of the crash.

The woman living in Mar Vista’s house was not injured, but neighbors say she lost everything to the fire and accident. A GoFundMe page has been created to help.

Caretaker Of At-Risk Adult In Denver Faces Grievous Bodily Negligence Charge

A Denver man is facing a criminal charge of negligence causing grievous bodily harm for allegedly failing to provide for an intellectually and developmentally disabled man who was in his host’s home care.

Michael Hill, 40, faces the felony charge in an investigation that began in December 2019, according to a press release from the district attorney’s office.

The criminal investigation unfolded when Colorado Adult Protective Services contacted Denver police about the victim’s concerns, the statement said. A detective came to the house for a ‘wellness check’ and ‘found the victim naked and covered in feces’.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where staff found him severely malnourished and dehydrated, the statement said. Investigators suspect he did not receive prescribed medication properly while in Hill’s custody.

MLB Umpires Association, adamant that crews are just following the rule, addresses home plate collision rule in statement

Mlb Umpires Association, Adamant That Crews Are Just Following The Rule, Addresses Home Plate Collision Rule In Statement

CHICAGO — The Major League Baseball Umpires Association released a concise statement on Wednesday regarding the criticism umpires are receiving as a result of the home plate collision rule.

The rule has been a topic around the game after several video reviews recently resulted in overturned calls to home plate, including during Tuesday’s game between the Cleveland Guardians and the Detroit Tigers.

The statement, obtained by ESPN on Wednesday, reads, “It is the catcher’s responsibility not to position themselves in such a way as to block home plate without the ball.

“This rule change was enacted after Buster Posey was involved in a collision at home plate and suffered a serious leg injury. The Players Association and Owners have decided to protect their major assets (players) and have adopted the home plate collision rule that players are now complaining about.”

The umpires argue they’re just following the rule that’s on the books, the one the league sent a memo to teams on earlier this month. The memo was accompanied by illustrations and reminders of how and where a receiver can and cannot set up when receiving the ball from a defender.

“It’s simple: don’t block home plate without possession of the baseball or change the rule,” the umpire’s statement read.

The latest on-court controversy came early in the first inning Tuesday at Cleveland. Guardians receiver Austin Hedges caught a pitch from shortstop Tyler Freeman as Javier Baez slid home. Baez was called but the video review canceled the call, saying “the catcher didn’t give the runner a lane.” The Tigers scored three runs in the inning, beating the first-place Guardians, 4-3.

“First of all it cost the game,” Hedges said after the loss. “It’s a game that’s been called a few times recently and never really been called before. … There are home games that beat the runners and for 150 years you’re out. And now we let’s call a type of rule that’s really tricky to define.”

The video review has overturned eight home calls this season, the most since 2014 freshman teams could contest the call. The most recent have prompted teams to seek clarification from the league, which it has provided.

“Recently, we have seen seekers take advantage of runners they expect to slide while moving down the running lane without possession of the ball, in violation of Rule 6.01(i)(2),” reads the league memo. “Such conduct only invites runners to collide with receivers, causing potential injury to players in a way the rule was designed to prevent. Receivers cannot block runners’ path unless they are in possession of the ball or playing the ball.”

Referees say they feel caught in the middle, saying it’s not their job to call the blocking rule live, but to leave the video review to New York – which is handled by the current referees – s take care of it.

Their statement then extended beyond the home plate collision rule.

“It is also inaccurate to say that umpires in Major League Baseball are not held accountable. It is often said of our profession that ‘umpires are supposed to be perfect from the start and improve from there.’

“Like players, our mistakes are subject to intense public scrutiny and we are also held accountable by our employer in performance reviews. Although we don’t always know in real time if our calls are correct, we scrutinize them closely after the game and try to learn from all the mistakes.”

Andrew Warren, fired by Governor DeSantis for refusing to prosecute abortion-related crimes, pursues reinstatement

Andrew Warren, Fired By Governor Desantis For Refusing To Prosecute Abortion-Related Crimes, Pursues Reinstatement
Placeholder while loading article actions

A Florida prosecutor has sued Governor Ron DeSantis (R) seeking reinstatement after he was removed from office for pledging not to pursue cases stemming from the 15-week abortion ban in Florida and potential bans on gender-affirming care.

Hillsborough County State’s Attorney Andrew Warren (D) argued his Aug. 4 suspension was unlawful on First Amendment grounds and called his removal a “retaliation” by DeSantis against a critic and political rival, according to a federal complaint filed Wednesday in the Northern District of Florida.

DeSantis suspends elected Democratic prosecutor who signed pledge on abortion cases

In a video message, Warren said that in addition to violating his free speech rights, DeSantis broke Florida law.

“He violated the Constitution of Florida by removing me from office without any legal justification, rejecting the results of a fair and free election,” Warren said.

DeSantis’ office dismissed Warren’s federal complaint as “without merit.”

“It’s no surprise that Warren, who was suspended for refusing to follow the law, is filing a lawsuit without legal basis to challenge his suspension. We look forward to responding in court,” a DeSantis spokesperson said in a statement.

Warren has been in office since 2016 and won re-election in 2020 with over 53% of the vote.

DeSantis suspending Warren and replacing him with someone he chooses sets an ominous tone for democracy in Florida, Louis Virelli, a law professor at Stetson University College of Law, told The Washington Post.

“One small step from here is if, as governor, I don’t think a state attorney is tough enough for a particular crime, I’m going to replace you with someone I prefer,” Virelli said. “That takes precedence over voter choice.”

Virelli said the complaint is one of the few options available to Warren if he wants to keep his job.

Part of Warren’s argument in the complaint is that the Florida Constitution limits dismissal to genuine incompetence or inability to do the job and breach of legal duty.

“Warren is being punished for what he said and not for what he did,” Virelli said.

Shortly after Warren was suspended, her office’s communications manager was told she had to resign and be paid throughout the month – or be fired on the spot.

Melanie Snow-Waxler, who began her role with the state’s attorney’s office in May, was fired Aug. 12.

“This unlawful termination is part of a troubling pattern of retaliation,” his attorney, Ryan Barack, said in a statement this week.

DeSantis and Warren are ideological opposites who have publicly argued over topics including abortion, covid restrictions, criminal justice and transgender rights.

In June, the day the Dobbs vs. Jackson decision was made, effectively ending the federal right to abortion access, Warren joined dozens of prosecutors across the country in signing a pledge that they “would refrain from using resources limitations of the criminal justice system to criminalize personal medical decisions”.

In 2021, Warren signed a similar joint statement with other elected prosecutors saying health care decisions should be a matter of “private discretion” and said they would not use their office to “promote the criminalization of gender-affirming or transgender health care”.

The DeSantis administration pursued aggressive policies to increasingly restrict medical treatments like puberty blockers and hormone therapy; just last week, the state banned people from using Medicare coverage to help pay for gender-affirming care.

Florida bans Medicaid coverage for those seeking gender-affirming care

Since Warren’s suspension, he and DeSantis have been at odds over the nature of the suspension. While Warren called his suspension “temporary” in his filing, DeSantis’ office said Warren was no longer the Hillsborough County 13th Judicial Circuit prosecutor after the governor nominated Susan Lopez, a Republican judge who supported Warren’s opponent in 2016.

Argentine ambassador to China rails against ‘demonization of communism’ in Beijing state media

Argentine Ambassador To China Rails Against 'Demonization Of Communism' In Beijing State Media

Argentina’s Ambassador to China Sabino Vaca Narvaja chastised those who ‘demonize communism’ and praised the Chinese Communist Party in a interview given to the Chinese state world times tuesday.

Opposition to communism “revives Cold War misconceptions”, Vaca Narvaja lamented.

The interview is part of what has become a growing emphasis in Argentine foreign policy on obsequious pronouncements about China under socialist President Alberto Fernández, who himself revered the corpse of mass murderer Mao Zedong during a visit to Beijing this year.

“’Without the Communist Party, there would be no new China. These words succinctly encapsulate the basic reason why China has achieved unprecedented progress in human history,” Vaca Narvaja told world timesreferring to the lyrics of one of the oldest musical propaganda pieces used by the Chinese Communist Party.

Vaca Narvaja said he heard the song during the Chinese Communist Party’s centenary anniversary in Tiananmen Square in 2021 – the site where the historic massacre of thousands of students and protesters took place.

The ambassador, who adopted the Chinese name “Niu Wangdao” as his own, was appointed as the head of Argentina’s diplomatic mission to China in 2020. The pro-China ambassador has been instrumental in strengthening China’s influence over the southern nation -American since 2021, starting with the arrangement which allowed China to send 15 million doses of a vaccine against the Chinese coronavirus from the firm Sinopharm to Argentina.

Sabino Vaca Narvaja, who has never been shy with his affinity towards communist China, is the son of Fernando Vaca Narvaja, a former member of the left-wing guerrilla Montoneros who actions a granddaughter of Argentina’s far-left Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner (no relation to Alberto Fernández).

The Argentine Ambassador was strongly critical in the past for his excessively pro-China positions. Vaca Narvaja represented defense of the Chinese genocide of the Uyghur people by claiming that there is “harmony in Xinjiang”.

In reality, China has illegally detained between 1 million and 3 million Uyghurs and other minority groups in occupied East Turkestan since 2017 in concentration camps, forcing detainees into inhumane conditions such as physical and sexual abuse, torture, forced labor and forced sterilization. China has also engaged in mass sterilization campaigns to limit the number of non-Han ethnic people born in the region.

Vaca Narvaja was quick to damn Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for her visit to Taiwan this month.

“We are sure that this visit was a provocation for China, and a problem for the whole international community,” the ambassador said.

The Government of Argentina supported Condemnation by Vaca Narvaja of President Pelosi’s visit shortly thereafter.

President Fernández traveled to Beijing in February to meet dictator Xi Jinping and officially joined China’s predatory Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) at this meeting. President Fernandez took advantage of his official visit to Beijing to lay a wreath honor of Mao, considered responsible for the murder of tens of millions of people, in his mausoleum.

Cases of Argentine ambassadors siding with the countries they were sent to rather than their own are not limited to China alone. On Tuesday, Argentina’s ambassador to Venezuela, Oscar Laborde, tacitly sided with the socialist regime of Nicolás Maduro in indicating that the Venezuelan-Iranian cargo plane suspected of having links with Iranian terrorism that the Argentine government grasped August 11 was instead “kidnapped,” echoing the narrative adopted by Venezuela’s socialist regime over its own.

During her presidency, Fernández de Kirchner was also accused of making deals with the Iranian government to help cover up her role in the deadliest terrorist attack in the country’s history, the bombing of 1994 against the Argentinian-Israeli Mutual Association (AMIA). The prosecutor who built the case against Kirchner, Alberto Nisman, has been found dead a gunshot wound to the head the day before he was due to present his case against Kirchner to the Argentine Congress in 2015.
