Former Gophers men’s basketball player Eric Curry has received a one-year fellowship in the office of the Big Ten Conference commissioner, Kevin Warren announced Tuesday at Big Ten football media days in Indianapolis.
“How cool is this!” Gophers head coach Ben Johnson tweeted. “Mark my words, E.C. will be a college commissioner or NBA front office executive sooner than later! Good things happen to good people. #proudcoach.”
Curry was a two-time captain at Minnesota who overcame serious injuries to play a sixth season in 2021-22. The Big Ten named Curry one of two Minnesota Outstanding Sportsmanship Award honorees in July.
These Big Ten internships started one year ago; Curry’s appointment will run the 2022-23 academic year.
