A BRITISH hiker fell to her death nearly 100ft off a mountain in Italy while hiking with her husband.
The 56-year-old was hiking in the Catinaccio massif in the Dolomites in northern Italy when she fell 30 meters.
Her body was recovered by a mountain rescue team and flown away, according to local reports.
The couple had been heading towards the Fronza Alle Coronelle refuge on July 24, along route 542, Via Ferrata Santner.
The victim was not named in local reports.
It is said to be the second fatal accident in a few days on the same trail, which is fitted with fixed ropes, steps and rungs to help hikers.
On July 4, a missing British tourist was also found dead at the foot of a cliff in Italy after disappearing from family to take a walk down a “rough path”.
Gerard Christopher Turner, 56, was spotted after going on a solo hike with his family in Lezzono, near the Alps, while on holiday.
