Ravens running back Gus Edwards, who is recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in training camp last year, is questionable for the regular-season opener against the New York Jets, a team official said Tuesday.
Edwards and running back J.K. Dobbins both missed the entire 2021 campaign with ACL injuries suffered during the preseason. Justice Hill also missed the season with a torn Achilles tendon but was healthy enough to participate in offseason workouts.
Dobbins and Edwards, as well as outside linebacker Tyus Bowser (Achilles tendon), left tackle Ronnie Stanley (ankle), cornerback Marcus Peters (knee) and safety Ar’Darius Washington (foot), will start camp on the physically-unable-to-perform list. They can participate in team meetings and use the team’s training and medical facilities but cannot practice.
With the arrival of Corey Clement, who agreed to terms on a deal with the Ravens Monday night, and the departure of Ricky Person Jr., who left camp last week after reporting with his fellow rookies, the Ravens should have five healthy options for Wednesday’s first full-team practice: Clement, Hill, Mike Davis, rookie Tyler Badie and Nate McCrary.
A team official also said tight end Charlie Kolar, a fourth-round pick in April’s NFL draft, has not practiced since rookies reported to Owings Mills last week as he’s dealing with a possible sports hernia and might require surgery.
Kolar had a sports hernia that required surgery in 2020 when he was at Iowa State.
