INVESTIGATORS investigating the helicopter horror death of a British tripper tonight told for the first time how he was killed – and revealed he didn’t take a selfie.
Holidaymaker Jack Fenton, 22, died from horrific head injuries after stepping into a spinning tail rotor of a helicopter that was flying him to Athens, Greece, on Monday.

Greek heli company bosses and police had suggested account executive Jack may have violated safety instructions and died while using his cellphone.
Police also ordered toxicology tests to determine if Jack was intoxicated – when his furious family and friends traveling with him hit back, claiming he had not put himself in danger lightly.
But the head of the Greek capital’s accident investigation, Ioannis Kondylis, described Jack’s final moments tonight in harrowing detail.
And he confirmed the tragic former public schoolboy didn’t take a cellphone snap at his death – amid ongoing concerns he hadn’t received proper safety briefing.
Kondylis said tonight after an interview with the pilot and witnesses: “From the testimonies we have collected, it does not appear anywhere that the young man wanted to take a selfie.
“It is reported that the 22-year-old was holding a mobile phone and had it to his ear, although it is not yet clear whether he was speaking.”
Kondylis revealed that Jack exited the Bell 407 plane at Lolo Airfield near Spata, Athens, through the right-hand door shortly after landing – but returned there and ducked under the tail of the plane.
But as he bent down, he must have seen the invisible – and deadly – rear rotor spinning at up to 500 rpm.
Kondylis continues: “We took statements from both the pilot and the two ground staff. These are witness statements that then have to be compared.
“According to them, all the requirements of the helicopter’s manual were apparently complied with.
“One ground worker went to the left door, one to the right, they got out and escorted them 20 meters to the building.
“Then one stayed with them and the other ground attendant returned to the helicopter.
“The young passenger, for what reason unknown, returned to the helicopter. We don’t know why he came back.
“He didn’t say anything to anyone. According to witnesses, he held a cell phone to his ear without us knowing if he was speaking to anyone.
“When one of the ground crew saw him walking toward the helicopter, he shouted ‘stop, stop, stop’ loudly in English, but he wasn’t listening.
“The ground crew’s voices were also heard by the captain, who was in the helicopter and wearing headphones. So they screamed loudly.
“The young man reportedly got out through the right-hand door and did not return to his seat. It passed under the tail of the helicopter and landed on the left side where it was hit by the rotor, which was not visible at the speed it was spinning.”
Kondylis said CCTV could now play a key role in confirming Jack’s recent moves.
And police now believe he may have gotten lost in the Rotor after picking up his cell phone after leaving it on board.
Kondylis added: “There is a camera outside in front of the hall. We do not know if this camera has a memory card.
“We made an application to the police yesterday afternoon to see if there was any audiovisual material that would best help understand the circumstances of the accident.”
A Greek Police spokesman said this evening: “Our investigation is ongoing but one of the key areas we are investigating is that Jack left his mobile phone on the helicopter and as a result returned there suddenly.
“We are still finalizing our interviews but a number of eyewitnesses saw him holding a mobile phone just before he was killed.
“Once our investigation is complete, we will forward the file to the prosecutor’s office, who will decide whether charges will be filed.”
