Escondido police arrested a 35-year-old man after a woman was shot in the abdomen at an apartment complex on Sunday night, a police sergeant said.

Just after 10:20 p.m., someone called police to report hearing gunshots during an argument at the resort on West Lincoln Avenue near North Escondido Boulevard, Sgt. said Mike Graesser.

Authorities found the victim and took him to the hospital. The injury does not appear to be life-threatening, Graesser said.

The suspect was later arrested at his apartment in another complex a few blocks north on North Escondido Boulevard.

According to prison records, he was taken into custody on suspicion of assault with a firearm and was being held in lieu of $50,000 bond.
