Twitterverse divided over Trump return in poll released by Musk

Elon Musk sought the wisdom of the Twitter community to let former President Donald Trump join the conversation.
He posted the question as a Twitter poll.

The initial tweet simply asks: “Reinstate former President Trump.” More than 11 million people voted on Saturday, with a split of 52.3% for and 47.7% against.

Mr. Musk noted early Saturday morning that the poll received about 1 million votes per hour. The 24-hour poll will end Saturday around 7:47 p.m. EST.

In the following tweet, Mr. Musk wrote: “Vox Populi, Vox Dei”, which roughly means “the voice of the people is the voice of God” in Latin.

Mr Musk has already reinstated other previously banned accounts, including comedian Kathy Griffin, academic Jordan Peterson and satirical site The Babylon Bee.

When asked if ‘Infowars’ host Alex Jones would be released, however, Mr Musk said adamantly ‘No’.

Mr. Musk previously pledged to let Mr. Trump back on the platform, telling the Financial Times in May that the decision to remove Trump from Twitter was “a morally wrong and foolish decision in the extreme”.
