Novak Djokovic plays at Wimbledon with the number ’23' printed on his white tennis shoes

England's WIMBLEDON (AP) — The green "23" inscribed on the heel of Novak Djokovic's white tennis shoes may need to be changed soon.

The 23 Grand Slam singles championships held by the seven-time Wimbledon winner might increase on Sunday if he wins three more matches at the All England Club.

Djokovic defeated Hubert Hurkacz 7-6 (6), 7-6 (6), 5-7, 6-4 on Monday to go to the quarterfinals at Wimbledon for the fourteenth time. The match began on Centre Court on Sunday. He will next compete against Andrey Rublev to get to the semifinals.

Only a few months after winning the Australian Open, Djokovic set a new record for men by winning his 23rd major championship in the French Open.

He remarked, "I think it's cool. "It's nice to mark the accomplishment, the historic achievement, in this way."

With 23 major championships, Djokovic has surpassed Serena Williams and Roger Federer and is equal with Rafael Nadal. If he prevails on Sunday, he will match Margaret Court's overall record.

Djokovic said, "I'm already thinking about this event and trying to get the most out of it. I'm certainly really happy of the success.
