Chris Christie, Geraldo Rivera to sit for interviews with Chris Cuomo on NewsNation

This week, Chris Cuomo's NewsNation program will feature Chris Christie, a Republican candidate for president, and Geraldo Rivera, a former Fox News analyst.

The conversation between Cuomo and Christie, which will be broadcast live on the network on Thursday night, is expected to center on "the status of his campaign, the current Republican presidential field, and why he is jumping into the 2024 race."

After the former governor of New Jersey is interviewed, Cuomo will welcome Rivera for his first prime-time interview since leaving Fox. In this interview, the television personality is expected to talk about "his reason he decided to leave his former post, his future in media," as well as other current events.

The former president "goes to bed every night, thinking about the sound of that jail cell door closing behind [him]," said Christie, who is challenging former President Trump for the 2024 GOP nomination, during an appearance on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Tuesday.

In recent years, Rivera has also been quite critical of Trump, chastising him for the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6 and tweeting last fall that he could never support the former leader.

The veteran news anchor claimed that he made the decision to leave Fox News when the organization booted him from the show's famous daytime table chat segment, "The Five." He recently posted a photo of himself in a pool without a shirt on to social media with the phrase "80 year old contemplating retirement."

On NewsNation, which two weeks ago featured a town hall with Democratic presidential contender Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and has recently hired a growing list of contributors and hosts to fill out its roster, Cuomo conducts a weekday prime-time news and commentary program.

Nexstar Media Group, which also owns and runs The Hill in 2021, owns and operates NewsNation as well as several local news outlets across the nation.
