Randy Travis, a country music artist, expressed his sorrow over the death of stagehand Thom Roberts on Monday, the day after Roberts was allegedly shot dead on the porch of his Nashville home by his envious wife.
At before 8 o'clock Monday night, police were called to the Howard Avenue residence of Roberts, 68, and Christine Roberts, 72.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by Fox News Digital, Christine Roberts allegedly told Metropolitan Nashville police officers that she shot her husband because he had cheated on her.
Thom Roberts was shot once in the chest, and he died as a result. According to court records, his wife was charged with criminal homicide and had a $100,000 bond placed on her.

The affidavit states that a neighbor who heard the shooting dialed 911.
Travis posted a message on his Facebook page mourning the loss of his old buddy, who he referred to as a "gentle giant" and "one of the very best stage lighting technicians in the business."
Travis penned, "With Thom Roberts' passing, the stage has grown darker." Thom had a calm, magnetic presence that lit up your soul in addition to having a unique knack for lighting a stage.
The stagehand was a long-time collaborator for Travis and his band, he claimed.

"He was a gentle giant of a man that wore a constant smile on his face and carried a song in his heart," the singer of "Storms of Life" gushed. "One would look for a nicer, gentler soul for a lifetime. Thom was my friend, and I cherished our relationship.

Next Monday, Travis will resume his More Life tour without his dependable mechanic.
The light that he actually created in our hearts will never be extinguished or forgotten, Travis said. "It certainly won't be the same; and, I know I speak for the entire band and crew when I say the light that he truly created, in our hearts."
