Erling Haaland scored twice as Manchester City defeated Yokohama F. Marinos 5-3 in the opening friendly of their Asia trip under the leadership of Kyle Walker, a transfer target for Bayern Munich.

The J1 League champions defeated the treble-winners 2-0, with goals from Anderson Lopes and Ken Matsubara for the home team. F. Marinos are just over halfway through their league season and are presently ranked second in their table.

John Stones, the captain for the day, scored from right inside the box, but Julian Alvarez afterwards added a quick-fire second by taking advantage of F. Marinos' errant pass out.

At halftime, Pep Guardiola made ten changes to his outfield lineup, and when play restarted, the visitors gained control. Within seven minutes of the restart, Haaland scored, converting a shot on the turn to make it 3-2 before Rodri curled in the game-winning goal in the Champions League final.

Ortega Moreno, Walker, Stones, Akanji, Ake, Phillips, Kovacic, McAtee, Palmer, Grealish, and Alvarez make up Man City's starting lineup.

Cancelo (45), Dias (45), Laporte (45), Lewis (45), Rodri (45), Foden (45), Bernardo (45), Perrone (75), Bobb (45), Gomez (45), and Haaland (45) are Man City's second-half substitutions.

Ederson, Carson, and De Bruyne were not substitutes.

Late in the game, Kenta Inoue gave F. Marinos a goal back, but Haaland still had time to add another goal from Joao Cancelo's pass and give City a two-goal lead.
