02/09/2018 (THEWILL) - Despite playing with 10 men after Fikayo Tomori's red card on Friday, AC Milan retained their perfect record in Serie A with a 2-1 victory over AS Roma.
Rui Patricio, Milan's goalkeeper, fouled Ruben Loftus-Cheek in the box, resulting in an Olivier Giroud penalty that gave Milan the lead. Then, after Rafael Leao's incredible acrobatic volley increased Milan's advantage right after halftime, Patricio made a wonderful stop to deny Christian Pulisic.
When Tomori drew a second caution, the Rossoneri quickly dropped to 10 men and he was forced to sit out the Derby della Madonnina versus Inter. Roma substituted in new acquisition Romelu Lukaku but failed to find clear opportunities until a deflected goal gave them late hope in stoppage time.

Nicola Zalewski came close to salvaging a tie in the closing seconds, but Milan held on to earn a crucial three points to go to the top of the table after three straight victories.
