Novak Djokovic sensationally reveals 'secret' to staging incredible comeback from two-sets down in US Open 3rd round

US Open 2023: In his five-set third-round encounter against fellow countryman Laslo Djere, Novak Djokovic completed an incredible comeback.
At the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York on Saturday, Novak Djokovic had to rely on his vast experience to defeat fellow countryman Laslo Djere in the third round of the ongoing US Open 2023. The world no. 2 won the final three sets to secure a 4-6 4-6 6-1 6-1 6-3 triumph after recovering from a two-set deficit. In order to avoid what would have been his earliest exit from the US Open since 2006, Djokovic displayed tremendous fortitude.

Djere, who was seeded 32nd and is 28 years old, might have achieved his greatest triumph to date. He has never advanced past the third round of a Grand Slam competition. Djokovic said that he went to the locker room after falling behind by two sets in order to pick himself up. "I gave myself a quick pep talk in the mirror. Given how furious I was, I almost laughed at myself. I compelled myself to cheer everyone up," he remarked.

Djokovic didn't allow Djere to take a foothold once he had established his dominance in the game. Djokovic scored 12 of the first 14 points in the fifth set, which essentially foretold the result of the match. At Flushing Meadows, the Serbian star won three of his men's record 23 Grand Slams and finished in second place six times, including in 2021. Since a foreigner who has not received the Covid-19 vaccination is not allowed to enter the United States, he was unable to compete the previous year. This year in May, the restriction was abolished.

Djokovic had a message for Borna Gojo, whom he will face in the following round. The other players are informed that I am still capable of playing five sets well into the night. Coming back from two sets down usually leaves a lasting impression on potential rivals, he added.

To be honest though, I don't really want to be in this situation. I like winning in straight sets. So perhaps in the following game I can get back on track," he continued.
