On Saturday in Dallas, Texas, Kristin Chenoweth wed her musician husband Josh Bryant in a small ceremony while wearing a Pamella Roland gown.

According to Chenoweth to PEOPLE, "I didn't want to wear white." "I chose a sheer overlay in Chanel pink and nude with a large bow in the back. Very organized. The bodice is covered in small pearl flowers that ombré out to the floor.

"Elegant and simple," says Chenoweth. I chose a pretty unconventional wedding gown since I never thought I would get married. I adore it.

The 55-year-old actress, singer, and recipient of an Emmy Award continues, "I wanted my wedding day style to feel authentic." She told PEOPLE in advance of the event, "I want to look like Kristin, I want to feel like Kristin, and I want Josh to see the girl that he has been with for five years."

For the reception, Chenoweth traded in her floor-length gown for a short, shimmering pink dress, also by Pamella Roland, that had an oversized bow embellishment at the neckline similar to the one she wore for the wedding. She added some pink Nike sneakers as an accessory, making them ideal for dancing the night away.

A gentle romantic palette of white, ivory, creme, soft peach, blush to medium pink, and champagne tones was used for the couple's wedding decorations. The wedding venue was beautifully decorated with calla lilies, garden roses, majolica, spray roses, hydrangea, ranunculus, veronica, mums, and various dark seasonal vegetation.

Bryant's band, Backroad Anthem, played at the Schmigadoon! star's niece's wedding in 2016, when the couple first met. When Chenoweth's nephew was married two years later, Bryant's band once more supplied the musical entertainment.

The couple is eager for their upcoming chapter as they are already settling into married life. Josh has an own career, but Chenoweth claims to have "stolen" him because he performs with her band frequently.

"I'm eager to continue our musical collaboration. We have a home in New York, but we're also establishing a life there, too," she continues. I feel so fortunate to have this man. He is my pillar.
